The Game #10

The Secret Plan

Rate this book
It's the sequel readers have been waiting for. Colt, Kit, and Lucas are back from Their Boy and ready to spread their—holiday cheer.
-

The Game Series is a BDSM series where romance meets the reality of kink. Sometimes we fall for someone we don’t match with, sometimes vanilla business gets in the way of kinky pleasure, and sometimes we have to compromise and push ourselves to overcome trauma and insecurities. No matter what, one thing is certain. This is not a perfect world—and maybe that’s why the happily ever after feels so good.

I'm often stoically silent or, if the topic interests me, a chronic rambler. In other words, I can discuss writing forever and ever. Fiction, in particular. The love story—while a huge draw and constantly present—is secondary for me, because there's so much more to writing romance fiction than just making two (or more) people fall in love and have hot sex. There's a world to build, characters to develop, interests to create, and a topic or two to research thoroughly. Every book is a challenge for me, an opportunity to learn something new, and a puzzle to piece together. I want my characters to come to life, and the only way I know to do that is to give them substance—passions, history, goals, quirks, and strong opinions—and to let them evolve. Additionally, I want my men and women to be relatable. That means allowing room for everyday problems and, for lack of a better word, flaws. My characters will never be perfect.

Wait…this was supposed to be about me, not my writing.

I'm a writey person who loves to write. Always wanderlusting, twitterpating, kinking, and geeking. There's time for hockey and cupcakes, too. But mostly, I just love to write.

ANOTHER DELICIOUS ADDITION TO CARA’S THE GAME SERIES

Well that was just a whole ball of deliciousness wrapped up in a steamy and sensual package.

Colt, Lucas and Kit are definitely right up at the top of my list as a favourite bunch of characters in Cara’s world and here they’re front and centre as Kit begins to grow in his confidence, secure within his relationship with his Daddies.

We’re in Colt’s head for this and let me say, the Air Force pilot just ticks all my boxes with his streak of sadistic possessiveness, coupled with deep caring and a desire to be the best he can for both his men.

His insecurities about whether Kit, who is so much younger than both him and Luke, would want to play with new Tops or Daddies is explored and handled so well by Cara, who really does know how to write kink with such a gentle, skillful hand.

Her books are always smoking hot, but they never titillate simply for the sake of it, there’s always a deeply rooted need behind all her men’s kinks and expressions of emotion.

This is a festive release, so there’s a wonderful Secret Santa which actually turns out to be one of the sweetest things this series has seen, as the Brats surprise their Tops with some truly thoughtful and unexpected gifts. The Tops, of course, go all out kinktastic with their presents and there’s some wonderfully squirmy moments throughout this part of the book.

Before we got to that bit though, Cara throws out the emotions as Colt has a heart to heart with Greer about his fears that the closed throuple dynamic is changing, he doesn’t want to clip his Little’s wings, but he knows he wants to give Kit the freedom to soar.

And ooooh boy does he do just that, although within very specific parameters because Kit also doesn’t want to risk the happiness he’s found with his two Daddies.

I very much loved how Cara let the situation unfold, it felt completely natural and organic, a heady mix of exploration within controlled rules, giving Kit the chance to take kinky baby steps with people who he knows, trusts and, in a different way to his Daddies, already loves and feels safe with.

It’s one of my favourites in the series and the big jaw dropper at the end just has me dying for the next book!

This is the 10th book in this series, but not the first to circle back and revisit a relationship that had been previously developed. I really like that Cara Dee does this as it gave the readers that love this series and look forward to each new installment, the opportunity to know that just because there is a "happy ever after" doesn’t mean that that story is over, or that we'll never see the "star" of that story again. In this one she's thrown in an "age gap" also letting one of the partners be still at the beginning of their journey, and we know that that often means that changes are sure to ensue. We get to meet Kit again...the young man that we first visited with back in book #1 Top Priority when his "Daddies", Lucus and Colt, were first realizing that even though they loved one another...they needed more...they needed a "boy" and Kit was it for them. The first couple of chapters gives us a quick glimpse at what to expect from the rest of the story. Cara Dee allows us to see Kit growing and thriving within both his relationship and as a part of the larger Lifestyle community. This is a holiday story, so it's not too heavy on the angst and it’s Colt’s turn as the dominate character. Colt has Lucas and Kit to show him that his concerns can be a source of potential enjoyment, not fear. I liked that we also saw almost all of the familiar faces from the past 9 books, at the holiday party that really is the heart of this story. The 'vanilla' aspects of the party, including the sweetness of the gift exchange, is nicely balanced with the inevitable shenanigans that occur when you mix almost 20 loving "kinksters" with enough seasonal liquid cheer. Though this book primarily follows up with Colt, Lucas, and Kit, we get teased with her next story star...Macklin, who is slowly becoming a real character rather than just a background presence that happens to own a restaurant. Oh...and there is a final tease that Cara Dee leaves us with at the end of this story. I bet die-hard fans will figure it out. This series is not for everyone...not even those that loves M/M Romances. It's entirely based on the inside happenings in a BDSM club, and the Tensley twins that own it. The characters are not just "once in while" visitors but are heavily invested into the Lifestyle.

It was fine. But like Senseless and Prepared, this felt like filler. Cara Dee is one of my favorite authors but I really crave something new . I love the kink, but 'd love to see her go back to Camassia Cove for a while (with or without kink, I don't even care). I just want something fresh.

I'm leaving this unrated since I DNFed way early and skimmed for some spoilers.

I hadn't realized that this book would have group play and sharing, which are two of my triggers.

The throuple from book 1 and 2 were supposed to be in a closed triad which is why I wanted to read it. However in this book they open their relationship to alot of people.

So that is on me.

I love Cara Dee and I adore her writing. But I'm giving up on anything related to this series because it's simply too triggering for me.

I may make an exception for the Tenley Twins's book... we shall see.

It needs to be said that it was nice to be on Colt's head. And I appreciated the fact that he was insecure about them sharing.

It’s funny how my main complaint when reading a lot of romance is that I always wish we’d been able to spend more time with the couple. Living their lives. Doing couple-y things. Interacting with family/friends etc… I hate when books just end at HFN.

And that’s what is so damn special about this series, and this author. We’re constantly drawn back into this world and these characters in a very organic way. And I’m so here for it.

This continuation of the series mainly follows Colt, Lucas and Kit and the goings on of their Xmas party. There’s heaps of cameos and lots of on-page time with a handful of our favourite kinky men from the series. There’s heat for days and enough sexy shenanigans going on to sink a battleship.

But at the heart of it is a love story with 3 men who are navigating their relationship through new territory and coming out stronger.

Such a good lead in to the next book, Apex Predator. Which I’m very much looking forward to.

Sharing is caring

This installment was so hot like the others in the series you learn something new. Like Macklin and Walker really have SO much to work out. Kit wants to experiment more. Colt learns a new level of trust. Greer makes a fab Santa…. And more…

It’s Christmas time and Kit, Luke and Colt throw a party. Hotness ensues.

Communication and trust is key in relationships like this. Open play is discussed and acted on in the most hottest of ways.
I know some critics of this type of sharing do not want this BUT it’s part of the series. It’s NOT cheating. This is all talked out before hand and it’s not a spur of the moment type play. I thought all the trust and honesty shown in this installment was quite beautiful.

I’ll never tire of this series. Cara writes kink like no other. It’s brilliant! The next book is going to blow me away. I can already tell!

One big horny and communicative family. I’m so here for it. I love this series to the moon and back and I absolutely adore Cara’s honest understanding of kink dynamics, boundaries, and consent. No one writes a realistic depiction of the kink/bdsm lifestyle like Cara. I love how I just read a book with dozens of characters on every page and each one is so unique my brain didn’t get scrambled. This was SO GOOD and SO HOT. And everyone loves each other so much and it just makes my kinky queer heart happy.

Well, this was a delightful little morsel!

After zooming through book 1 – in Lucas’s POV – and book 2 – in Kit’s – I just had to dive straight into this lovely triad’s sequel, even though it meant skipping a whopping 7 books (featuring different relationships) in between. Some of us are not as patient as Lucas! (Kit and I will just sit in the naughty corner together.) And this time we got Colt’s POV. Colt, you cocky bastard! Nice to finally be in your head.

Also, this book centers on a Mclean-gang Christmas party at the triad’s house, making it seasonally appropriate. Happy holidays, fellow horndogs!

We open on Colt, Lucas, and Kit’s first Christmas as a triad, a couple of months after book 2 ended. Their triad is still fairly new, but it’s solid: these guys have been all-in with each other pretty much from the start and are now living permanently at the Georgetown house. All the same, Colt – cocky bastard or no – is feeling a bit disquieted. Part of it is insecurity about Kit’s youth and inexperience: not in terms of disliking either (although he does get the occasional gut-punch when he thinks of how old he’ll be when Kit’s his age), but because he suspects/ expects that Kit will have crushes and want to experiment with others. Colt isn’t against experimentation per se, but he struggles with the dual fears that Kit will want to open their relationship (enter into a physical and emotional relationship with someone else that extends beyond playdates – something Colt has no desire for) and, especially, that he will want to play with another Top or Daddy. Colt and Lucas have played with others, both other doms and subs, during their relationship, but the Daddy-Little dynamic changes the emotional balance. Colt is okay with the idea of their boy experimenting with another sub or even a switch during playdates, but he is jealous and worried at the notion that he’d want to try things with another Daddy. He wants to give Kit the freedom to explore and grow and feel satisfied in the relationship, but he can’t help feeling possessive.

The other part of Colt’s itchiness relates to Lucas and their relationship within the newfound triad. This was by far my favorite part (well, other than the horndog stuff; basic’s gonna basic). Colt and Lucas have been so focused on building their new relationship with Kit – both as a triad and individually, finding their own separate ways to bond with him and love him – that they’ve somewhat neglected their own bond, despite Kit’s nagging that Colt and Lucas should do more things together just the two of them. Colt also realizes that, now that they’re settled with Kit, he wishes he and Lucas could get married. They’ve been engaged forever but never took the final step of marrying, always holding out hope that they would find their Little and not wanting to exclude him in advance. Finding Kit has changed and deepened his bond with, and love for, Lucas and he aches for some kind of recognition of that, but the fear of excluding Kit is even more acute.

And this is the good part: because when he and Lucas tell Kit they’re thinking of having a symbolic ceremony, Kit – far from expressing jealousy or feeling left out – tells them to do it, and not just symbolically. Kit explains that he doesn’t need or want equality in their relationship; so long as they are equally committed to their relationship – which they are – that is enough. Kit wants his Daddies happy and secure together, because that’s the only way he can be happy and secure; and he doesn’t want to pretend like Colt and Lucas don’t have a long, loving history together, because that history and togetherness and experience is a big part of what attracted him in the first place, and provides the stability and framework he needs to be free in the relationship. The whole point of the Daddy-Little dynamic is that he lets his Daddies take care of him, not that they all take on the same roles; as Kit says, he is their responsibility within the relationship. Whereas Colt was worried that Kit would see him and Lucas getting married as exclusion, Kit sees it as affirmation and celebration and security. It’s really wonderfully done, pointing to the idea that relationships don’t always have to be 100% equal so long as all the partners want it that way. It’s only when the relationship dynamics and the partners’ own desires and expectations don’t match up that it’s a problem.

This points to one of the things I admire about this series so far, which is the way that communication is prioritized and demystified, for lack of a better word. We don’t spend chapters on miscommunications or secrets or “I really should tell them, but I CAN’T!!” nonsense. These three are communicating constantly, both on sex stuff – there is open and frank negotiation about boundaries and what is comfortable and allowed in relation to the Christmas party-turned-playdate-orgy – but also on relationship stuff. Colt frets, but he talks about it – getting advice from Greer, a fellow Top and friend, but also taking things up directly with Lucas and Kit. And Lucas and Kit are also good about vocalizing and clarifying their questions and expectations and needs. I love when characters model good communication! Because I am old and don’t need the aggro!!

This book is also hot AF. And even hotter because all the various configurations have been consensually negotiated in advance, so no one is doing dumb stuff or anything with anyone they will regret. Just sit back and enjoy the orgy, friends!

The Secret Santa exchange is adorbs. Sniff. Right in the feels!

This is obviously not a standalone: you MUST read at least books 1 and 2 first. I’m sure I would have gotten more out of it if I had read the 7 books in between because all those characters pop up here, but it wasn’t exactly necessary. I’m looking forward to working my way through this series, and I’ll definitely re-read this again once I’ve got a handle on all the dynamics. In the meantime, I’m not at all sad that I skipped ahead to follow the next chapter in Colt, Lucas, and Kit’s story. They’re the little triad that could!

(Though if we don’t get puppy cameos in the ensuing books, I will be VERY disappointed!)

Time for a Christmas party at Colt/Lucas/Kit’s for the Mclean House kinksters, but this was also the perfect chance to get a sequel about the above-mentioned triad after their first six months together. Told entirely in Colt’s POV, on top of showing the group celebrating the holidays, this story focuses on the relationship evolving when Kit . I wasn’t really expecting this development for these three characters, since they’ve been the only ones in the closest thing to a in this series so far, but I guess it was always a matter of time. I liked seeing

reread (4.25/5).

Again, this book does not require a full on review.

But it was really nice to have Kit’s and his Daddies point of views again.

Anyway. This was fun. Lots of fun. If you like orgies. Otherwise stay clear.

This was also incredibly sweet in its own way.

I liked it.

Cara Dee just keeps delivering- The Secret Plan was a delicious story full of love, kink, friendship and steam!

I’ve always liked Colt and I was thrilled about him being the main narrator for this story. His love for Kit and Lucas was everything, and I loved his thoughts on how far Kit has come and his ability to read him. It was really nice to get more insight into their relationships and how they’d developed since Their Boy.

Things got steamy in this one and I absolutely loved the group play here! Cara writes kink so well and the dynamics were all amazing. The Secret Santa event was everything I could have wished for and the brats really surprised me. Also, I fully agree with Kit that seeing two tops together is hot as hell…

The ending left me gasping and I can’t wait for Apex Predator! I love this bunch of kinksters so much, and it was such a treat to read more about their close-knit community.

I expected more than just a slice of life,. Lacking of plot, mainly just sex now,. BECAUSE IT FEATURES MA BOIIII KIT!!! the reason i liked Kit in the first place is because in his book (that being book #2: Their Boy) he has a CHARACTER—ARC,. a journey to be told, a story to unfold, which is exactly thk thing hat i liked in the first books in this book series with many books being good and also many being soo badddddd, i feel like the author of these latest releases are not written by Cara Dee since it lacks the very core if why I uiked this series in the first place.

I had started to tire of The Game series, so I haven't read the last couple of books. However, when I found out my favorite couple (Colt and Luke) and their boy (Kit) were starring in this book, I had to read it.

It was great catching up with my favorite threesome again. This was just a quick holiday get-together with most of the guys from The Game series, with special emphasis on Colt, Luke and Kit. Lots of group sex and sharing of partners, so if that's not your thing you might want to skip it.

Holy. Moly. For fans of Top Priority and Their Boy specifically, this book is a must read. Centered around a holiday party Kit wants to throw, we get some new group dynamics and some smoking hot scenes.

Cara Dee knows kink. And boy does she write it well. I am a huge fan of Colt. He has long been one of my favorites. When I discovered that this book is told almost entirely from his POV, I was delighted. I love how he is with Lucas and Kit. He’s such a loving partner and this book highlights that so wonderfully. His anxiety about changing dynamics, his care with Kit’s wants and needs, his adoration of Lucas, I absolutely loved it all. Plus his scenes with other members of the community? Ugh. So hot.

The secret Santa reveal was everything I hoped for. The brats really outdid themselves. The Tops were also pretty on point as well. We get a ton of cameos from previous books, but this definitely focuses on the evolution of Colt, Lucas and Kit’s triad. I love the new direction and I loved the set up for the next book, Apex Predator. So many good things appear to be coming to The Game series and I am all in for every single one.

This was super cute and fun to read for the most part. I definitely didn’t like it as much in the 2nd half when all the other characters came in for the party, which is odd because I normally love the crossover in these books. But I think it really went back to that antagonistic relationship between the doms and the subs that I don’t enjoy. I get that anyone can safe word at any time, but when the subs are complaining constantly about the physical sadism, it’s hard to feel like they’re actually enjoying themselves, and then I’m just feeling bad and uncomfortable. I think that’s what I’ve loved about some of the other books in the series - when the couples are so explicit about only giving the sub the pain they want and aren’t doing it to make them feel bad or uncomfortable without the sub being enthusiastically into it. I’m not doubting there was consent here, it just felt like the subs were going along begrudgingly instead of having fun. Still, I do love this series and definitely needed to revisit these couples after so many DNFs in the past week.

In The Secret Plan, we revisit Kit, Lucas, and Colt as they navigate the evolution of their relationship. Now that Kit feels safe and settled with his daddies, he’s ready to push some boundaries and explore the idea of group play. I love that the issue gets talked out with his friends and daddies so they all feel confident and safe in their relationship before they make any decisions together. Luckily the central Mclean House friend group is super supportive and open. The story is told mostly from Colt’s perspective and he’s so fun!

The plot also revolves around the Christmas party Kit wants to throw. The brats have a plan to surprise the tops during the secret Santa gift exchange. Of course, you can’t get these guys together for a party without things getting wild, and HOOOOO-BOY! That was sooooome Christmas party! I loved this and can’t wait for the next one!

Oh, my freaking god, so damn good!!!
This latest instalment gave me all the TOP PRIORITY reminiscing vibes. It was lovely and sweet, and it reaffirmed so many feels between Kit, Lucas, and Colt. This gorgeous family makes me fall in love with them every single time they are featured in a story. Their sweet dynamic and genuine affection gave me all the sweet fuzzy feels, until of course the sadists had to step in and give me a good spanking with some of the hottest scenes featured thus far in the series. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Oh my god, yes Sadists do it best!!! Sorry Kit, love ya, babe, but imma be taking a solid bite of Colt, followed by a big serve of Greer😈💜
I had a list of quotes, but hell, all spoilers and i can't include them without ruining the book, so let me tell you that this book is full of zingers. There are so many memorable cameos, hilarious banter on point, fantastic chemistry blosoming between characters, and beautiful emotional moments.💜😈
I feel like this is the first book, for me personally, when I get a bit of a sweeter side of Mac. I very much enjoyed seeing him in this not only submissive state but seeking affection and validation, as well as connecting with Kit on another level. It was super cute.💜 I am very excited to see where that storyline will go.💜
This was a fantastic fast-paced, beautiful read, I couldn't put it down❤️
I can't wait for the next instalment APEX PREDATOR. 🤩

This is a check in to all our favorite characters and relationships. I enjoyed seeing how Colt-Luke-Kit relationship is evolving.

My biggest issue with this series is that there is a Cameron and a Camden And a Lucian and a Lucas. Then to add to it there is. KC and. Corey and a Kit and I start getting muddled becjase I don’t hold on to names well and I don’t form character pictures in my mind (I can’t see the people unless constantly reminded what they look like). Anyway… a lot of my reading time is spent scratching my head trying to decide who is doing what to whom.

This series has some sort of chokehold over me because some of them have been less than good but I can’t stop.

I skipped Franklin and Jack’s book because Franklin gives me the ick.

I read this one in spite of the fact I’m not convinced that Kit/Lucas/Colt remotely needed another book and I was right. It felt like a book where there was no story to be told.

I’m looking forward to the next one though because I’ve been wanting to find out more about Mack and Walker for well… 7 books…

This might be my least favorite book in this series. I really enjoy that we get to read about all the couples from previous books and honestly it's the characters that keep me reading this series. But at times I really just wanted more from the characters than sex or kink and found myself annoyed while reading. Colt, Lucas and kit opening up their relationship just felt wrong to me.

Ho, ho , ho !

An awesome read full of love, found family and holiday cheers! Including some really hot times.

I love reading more about the characters we met at the start of this series: Colt, Lucas and Kit. They have finally found each other and are happily living together.

In this book, the triad starts to explore their relationship dynamics. Open communication is the key, so expect thoughts about feelings, talks and discussions about boundaries. That said, there is also a Christmas party to prepare for, so of course there's plenty of fun to be had. And when the party finally starts? Expect shenanigans, plenty of BDSM elements, jokes, good food, gifts and a whole lot more. As the party continues, things start heating up and when Santa finally arrives, playtime has really begun.

Cara Dee is great in giving her characters their own voice, which reflects in her writing style. This book is told through Colt's POV, except for the prologue, which is told though Kit's POV. The whole book was funny, sweet, thoughtful, hot and great to read.
Even though this is clearly Colt's book, since there are 19 guests and we are treated to a lot of scenes of everyone together, it's also the continuation of the story lines of the other main characters we met in earlier books in this series. It's also the prelude to Macklin's story.

This might be obvious, but since this is the tenth book in the series, I highly recommend you read the previous books. Otherwise, you will miss out on a lot. And really, the other books are also awesome, so why not read the whole series ;).

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
