Ginger and Ty don't work. They tried it before, and they crashed and burned. But now they're dealing with powers far stronger than either of them: How can you fight the chemistry?
Ginger Rogers (yes, she knows) has spent the last five years bricking up her wounded heart. She's found her place teaching chemistry at Chamberlain Academy, nurturing her plants, and writing online book reviews. Even opening up to let in a new friend has taken her way beyond her comfort zone, and she's living with a pretty constant vulnerability hangover. And just when she's feeling comfortable letting people back into her life, in walks Tyson Perry Miller. And, well, you know who he is.
Ty, one of TV's hottest actors under thirty, award-winning heartthrob, and brainy PhD in chemistry, also happens to be Ginger's ex. And for reasons of accidental embezzlement (please don't ask, because he can't talk about it without his lawyer present), he's been sent to do a stint as a celebrity sub. Is that even a thing? Well, apparently it is at Chamberlain. He knew it would be a tough gig. But he didn't count on coming face to face with Ginger. Or the way seeing her would make him feel.
They can't just fall back into the same relationship they used to have. It didn't take. They both got hurt. Badly. They would do better to simply walk away. But nobody managed to tell that to their hearts. Primal forces are at work here. It's not just attraction. It's Chemical.
Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes so I couldn't wait to read the second book in the Chamberlain Academy rom-com series. It's been 5 years since Ginger and Ty broke up and Ginger is just beginning to let people past the wall she put up to protect herself. In addition to teaching chemistry at Chamberlain Academy, which she loves, she has her plants, her book blog, and dinners at Lola's to fill her life. But is she really living or just going through the motions?
Enter Ginger's ex, Tyson Perry Miller, who broke her heart and is the reason for the walls around her heart. He's a big time actor in Hollywood now so what's he doing at Chamberlain Academy teaching science? And why is he here for the entire semester? This is the most anti-miracle in the history of the world.
It's not important why Ty is teaching for the entire semester. What's important is that he and Ginger still have awesome chemistry. I loved that the administration put Ty in an RA room in the boy's dorm because the scenes of him interacting with teenage boys were the best!! That poor cat (IYKYK). I love the dual POV--we get to hear Ty's thoughts and not just what Ginger thinks he might be thinking.
I loved watching Ginger and Ty learning to be friends again and was so upset when their blossoming second chance romance was derailed for even a little while! I might've actually cried out Noooo!!! I liked catching up with Joey, Dex, and Hank and having everyone eat dinner at Lola's again. I think Becca Wilhite did a great job with Ginger and Ty's second try at love and I LOVED the epilogue.
This is part of a series but can easily be read as a standalone. I received a complimentary copy to review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This was a new author to me. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised! This is a very sweet story of broken hearts, mistakes, love and forgiveness.
Ginger has just been going through the motions of life since her breakup with her college boyfriend, Ty. After five years she’s teaching high school chemistry at a private boarding school in the mountains of Vermont.
Her ex boyfriend has gone on to be a major movie star and heartthrob in California. Imagine her surprise when he’s introduced as a new teacher at her school. What can go wrong?
I enjoyed this book, it could have been very predictable, but it had a few interesting twists and turns, so it wasn’t boring. It was nice to read both points of view and understand what was going on in their heads. The author has a great writing style helping you to feel for the main characters and want cheer them on.
I absolutely love the way Becca Wilhite writes!!! The humor is perfect and effortless, infused throughout the whole story. The characters were genuine, and it was like Becca Wilhite had written them into real life the second I started reading! The friend group in this book was one I’d gladly be a part of!! I adored the setting of the frigid Vermont mountains, and Chamberlain Academy seemed like the perfect place for romance!
The chemistry between Ginger and Ty was obvious from the start, and they seemed to bring out the best in each other which I loved!!
Becca Wilhite does a wonderful job of creating a world that readers love to live in while reading! From Gingers “garden” of a living room to the observatory at the tip of the science building and the cold snowy sidewalks between, the world is beautiful and real and amazing! Thank you to Becca Wilhite for creating another wonderful story!
This book was a really cute second chance romance with a fun setting and great supporting cast of characters. I liked that the Ty and Ginger had such great chemistry, literally. The way they fall back in love was sweet and I found myself entertained from start to finish. There were a few unexpected moments and twists at the end, but I like that Ginger did the mature thing and the two communicated. This is a clean romance and an enjoyable read. I received an advance reader copy of this novel, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a fun book to read. I really love the setting at an East Coast prep school. The only reason I dropped a star was because I could see the end from the beginning. The plot points that should have been a big surprise weren't all that surprising. I liked the adult-student interactions, and the romance was sweet.
Return to Chamberlain Academy for a funny, sweet/clean second chance romance.
* Second chance romance
* Part of a series, but can be read as a stand alone
* Sweet/clean
* Great chemistry
Ginger Rogers (love it) hasn't been the same since she and Ty ended 5 years ago. She's only recently started to trust enough to let people in. Teaching at a private school in Vermont, she lives a pretty secluded life until Ty shows up as the newest teacher. Tyson Perry Miller (Ty) has to get out of the spotlight quickly. Leaving his thriving TV career behind to teach at a remote private school for a semester seems to be the answer. Unbeknownst to him, he is on a collision course with his ex.
Some of my favorites:
* Lola's
* Building a snowman
* Pretzel goldfish
* Creeping Death
* Great group of supporting characters
Becca Wilhite's humor shines through in this book. Her descriptions of the school and the cold are fantastic. I felt as though I'd been there and endured that biting cold. The chemistry between the MC's is palpable.
I received an ARC of this book, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Very cute! I loved that Ginger was a reviewer and totally got her fangirl excitement in meeting and interviewing the author of a book she adored. Second chance love stories are always so satisfying. I can't wait for the next book!
This book was super cute! I loved the “chemistry” (hehehe, YES) between Ty and Ginger. The history between them and the new story they created when they found each other again. I super enjoyed the boarding school setting as well. The kids and fellow teachers are so fun! (Creeping Death 🤣. I laughed so much lol.) And the epilogue is the best! Everything about it. This book just makes you smile.
If you’re looking for a sweet, cute romance that’s quick, easy to read, and doesn’t have over the top conflict and drama I’d definitely recommend this series!
This is a very sweet story with a few swear words, which was strange coming from a squeaky clean book. I love their story, even though I totally called the Portia thing.
Such an adorable second chance romance! I loved getting to know Ty and Ginger and seeing how their relationship evolved. I also loved the humor sprinkled throughout and the friendships they had to help them along the way! Definitely recommended this sweet story!
Oh my heck! I love this book SO much! I was so excited to read another book at Chamberlain Academy and this one did NOT disappoint!
It was so fun to see their second-chance romance and it was so well done! I loved the literal “chemistry” between Ty and Ginger. The moves toward that first kiss (in the present time) were so electric!
I enjoyed seeing both characters growth from their relationship before to their chance at love again. I also loved the school/science teacher setting and how they made it work for this story.
I love it when a second book comes out as quickly as this one did. It wasn’t that long ago that I read Look Again and hoped for another book in that world soon. You are definitely going to want to read Ginger’s story. It really has it all.
Ginger is minding her own business at Chamberlain Academy when all of a sudden her ex shows up. And he’s there to teach. For. The. Whole. Semester. It takes a bit for the reader to find out exactly what happened between Ty and Ginger before. And at that point, I wasn’t sure I wanted these two to get back together.
But there really is just something about Ty. I loved the way he was with the boys in his dorm. He got put in charge of them and he really just ran with it. Ty was able to put up with their practical jokes, redirect their attention from hacking things, and then there’s the cat! You’re going to have to read that part. That part may be my favorite part of the whole book. The author did such a great job with it!
I really loved everything about this one. There are so many funny moments. And there are moments that will surprise you. It really just has it all!
Another episode in the saga of various teachers at through exclusive ptep school Chamberlain Academy. This one takes place in the winter and "stars" Ginger a chemistry teacher and Ty an actor who has done a very bad thing and is being punished teaching for five months at Chamberlain. Even though Ty is a well-known TV actor he has a PH.D. in chemistry. Ty and Ginger knew each other from college and had had a romantic relationship until Ty betrayed Ginger with her roommate. It had been 5 years since they last saw each other so neither of them realized that the other one was teaching at Chamberlain until the first faculty meeting in January. Although it took a while they did get their happily ever after (of course that is required in rom com's!). I am so loving this series. I'm glad I'm reading them somewhat in order because there are a lot of the same characters in all of the books. However, each book can be read as a standalone.
The entire premise of why they "broke up" is because he cheated on her emotionally, then physically and she walked on in on him. He then married the OW to make it "worth it", but then got divorced and now many years later tries to justify the cheating as being no big deal.
I don't always hate cheating in novels, but I unequivocally despise cheating novels where the cheater tries to make the cheating the other person's fault or rug sweep it. The trauma and betrayal Ty put Ginger through was atrocious.
Even at the end the author has them joking about how the cheating needed to happen so they could have their "love story".
Like... WHAT??!?!?!?
NO. I was meh on the first one, but after this one, I'm done with this series and this author.
I really like this author, and I loved Ginger as a character, but I was so disappointed in the way she went back to Ty without him redeeming himself even a little. His “explanation” for why he cheated on her was weak and unforgivable (got caught up in the chemistry of rehearsing a scene? Really? He’s an actor - who’s to say he won’t do exactly the same thing again in another role?). Then he puts her in an awful situation KNOWINGLY, and she shuts down his apology and steps up their relationship instead?? No. And Joey encouraged it - a friend should’ve pointed out how awful what he did was, not encouraged her to ignore it.
I enjoy this author and this series. I really like Ginger Rogers as a character and as a friend with Joey and the rest of the faculty. I'm not sure I could be as forgiving as her, but Ty certainly makes her happy. I love the high school boys and their dorm drama! Sweet ending.
I thought I would love this story based on the synopsis. I didn’t love it. I could not stand the MMC. He was weak. A cheater. And tried to justify his reasons. Not cool. Then, he continued to be weak and didn’t tell her the truth, essentially setting her up for a whole of hurt. Again. Nope. Did not like him at all. I’ve read 2 books from this series. Won’t be reading any more.
This was such a disappointing read for me. The characters and their relationship just were not believable and the conflict/concerns were never actually addressed throughout the story.

"Ginger, I love you like the sunrise." This, such a simple way to put it yet so meaningful. I loved it.
I loved everything about Ginger from her name to her nerdiness about house plants and her blog about book reviews. Ty was sweet from the onset. His past actions were questionable but he cleared the air and worked to earn her trust again. Their first kiss was filled with so much emotion that I felt it to my core.
I loved Lola's restaurant. That you weren't supposed to order anything but to only wait to be served some random deliciousness that she cooked that day was intriguing.
This wasn't the typical celebrity romance. The Vermont winter setting was wonderful as well. I'm looking forward to reading the first book in this series 😄 I loved this.
Thank you so much to the author for sending me this ARC.
I.never felt.like there was good explanation for th behavior with Janie. It was glossed over as well as the embezzlement. Police would have been involved. Ginger seemed really to welling to forgive and forget.
