I love this series, because I always learn something new and the information is presented with fun font and wildly colorful illustrations. Did you know seals have no visible ear flaps and sand is parrotfish poop? There are many more fun facts about the ocean in this board book!

I liked how the descriptions hint at the danger of some ocean cretures for humans without blaming the creatures, and how the text also hints at the environmental crisis our earth's oceans suffer from without being overly preachy or dark and doomsday. Just enough to encourage the reader to ask, "Why?" Would be more effective as an Early Reader, especially with the altrernating font style placing emphais on individual words in each text blurb. Good for a reader who is comfortable with sounding out new vocabulary to string together a sentence.

I really enjoyed Mrs. Peanuckle's Flower Alphabet, and now I've learned a lot from Mrs. Peanuckle's Ocean, too. The illustrations and background page colors are pleasant to look at, though text dominates, so this is most appropriate for a small child with a long attention span. Otherwise, the book can be read in stages. I noticed that some of the pages have commentary or adjectives that try to use the featured letters, but it's not consistent across all letters.

Short, engaging, and interesting tidbits about various ocean animals and oceany facts, from A to Z, fill the pages of this Mrs. Peanuckle board book. It will make a great addition to your ocean life story time. Highly recommended.
