Encontrei este livro na biblioteca do meu pai, e devo dizer que é um dos livros mais completos que li sobre o período histórico da arqueologia do século VI e V japonês. À partida poder-se-ia dizer que o historiador iria cometer alguns erros de cariz histórico na obra, devido ao pouco tempo que passou no Japão, contudo as suas explicações, e a forma como conseguiu integrar na pesquisa de objectos do dia-a-dia, ou de divindades, fez dele uma referência para os interessados do Japão e do Budismo; n

J. Edward Kidder Jr. was born and grew up in China. He was educated at Maryville College, Tennessee and New York University, where he took his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees. He taught at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, from 1950 to 1956 and was then appointed to the International Christian University in Tokyo, he became Professor of Art and Archaeology.
