The powerful tycoon Nick Cavendish and his employer, the beautiful Hebe (goddes of youth according to Nick) have a passionate one-night stand neither of them have ever forgotten and their relationship gets more complicated and tense after Hebe gets pregnant...

Gosh how arrogant and cynical Nick are from the beginning, and i love how Hebe stood up for herself against him.He both threatens and blackmails her for marriage, but the tables turns against him after he falls deeply and madly in love with Hebe...I love how he fights for her in the end,i am so weak for men who fight for their woman`s love. The mysterious love-triangle between Hebe`s biological mother Claudia,Andrew and Jacob was really sad and tragic.
Enjoyed this CM magic so much!Charming and sexy at its best..

This book was one of those that I enjoyed because I was in the mood to enjoy it. There was a whole lot of 'real people wouldn't be this dumbness'. I mean how did this guy get to be a millionaire and still be so blind and oblivious? The love was too quick and the emotions overwrought. Still the OTT drama factor was high and I wasn't in the mood to be too nitpicky.

After a night of passion between basically two strangers (even though employer and employee) which was supposed to remain a one night stand, Nick returns from his business trip 6 weeks later to find Hebe pregnant. He immediately threatens her to take the baby away if she doesn't marry him. She loves him (really?, after only one night and they hadn't even exchanged two words prior to that) but is reluctant to enter matrimony without love on both sides. There is also a misunderstanding related to a painting and Hebe's paternity.
The writing was very poor and the characters unlikeable. The story was linear, common, with no surprises. Even for a HP book i expect more than this.

This book was frustrating and heartbreaking to read at the same time. So many foolish choices were made and at the same time it all leads up to the ideal partnership, marriage and most of all love of their lives.

"Pregnant by the Millionaire" is the story of Hebe and Nick.

Basically 2 pages into the book, I realized I had already read it before..but since it had been a while I decided to read it again.

The plot is
-The H is a brooding ahole who is looking for a one night stand to drown the sorrows of his son's death anniversary
-He decides to seduce a employee who works in his art gallery
-Morning after post coitus, he's all like "bye biatch"
-*sobbing noises from the naive h's heart*
Few weeks laterrrrr
-h be having nauseaaaa.. which in HQN language means BOOM preggo
-H at the same time finds a "sensual" painting resembling the h, and immediately labels her a hoe who slept with the artist
Then follows
-revelations, forced wedding, slut shaming, misunderstandings, truths about past and paternity, eventual repentance and HEA
Tbh the hero was a big dum dum, until about 99% when he regains his senses. That being said, Im glad he accepted the baby (even though he totally thought of the mother as a hooker and gold digger), and felt a semblance of guilt when he realized his error which was at the end.
The heroine a welcome mat with "seduce me im all for it" written on her.

I for one really enjoy the theme of a night of passion and then later the hero finds out that he is either a father or an expecting father. I really liked Hebe. She was emotionally solid character. I could find nothing about her that was wrong. On the other side of that equation the hero was so far full of himself and just down right arrogant at times I just wanted to slap him (Diedre Hall style). In the end he ended up fixing his bad attitude but I was almost at the point to little to late. I mean I get feeling like you were tricked into that position because of your money but to accuse her of other things repeatedly when there was no proof is just down right annoying. That is the only reason I didn't give the book 4 stars. I did really enjoy reading the book and I would recommend it but if you can't tolerate really harsh behavior of your hero's keep that in mind! I look forward to reading more of her work!!!

For the first time, thirty-eight-year-old Nick Cavendish broke his own rules and took a woman home with him. To spend one night in her arms, a woman who happened to be his employee, and forget about the past which was haunting him.

Twenty-six-year-old Hebe Johnson couldn't believe she was with Nick Cavendish, her American boss, who owned the London gallery where she worked. But the casual dismissal in the morning after the one-night-stand put an end to her fantasies of Nick.

This is the fifth book I'm reading by Carole Mortimer and it reminded me of The Bellini Bride by Michelle Reid. An uncannily similar storyline of an 'art collector/connoisseur' hero mistaking heroine's mother's portrait for her's.

Hebe is as stubborn as they come but she's willing to bend to Nick's wishes for the baby. More like he threatened her with the classic 'I will take custody of the babe on their birth and you will not see them again'.

There were too many exclamation marks for my liking or for reading comfort, what with every third line seeming to jump out with an exclamation mark! And Hebe and Nick never met up with his family, something which was promised but never fulfilled in the text. If the woman in the portrait had not had a tragic life, it would have been another Mills and Boon story. The ending proclaimed the true love of two generations but some of the scenes were just cringing. And the hurried ending didn't help.

The story line was good. Hebe liked her boss Nick. They spent one steamy night together. Hebe had stars in her eyes thinking it was love. Nick acted like a jerk the next day, and Hebe walked away. I did like that Nick figured out Hebe was pregnant 6 weeks later, and it was Hebe who was shocked. Nick was a jerk at the beginning of the story but he came around. This ended up to be a very sweet book, with some twist and turns along the way. I wasn’t drawn to the characters the way I had hoped I would be. The story itself didn’t feel real. If you like a good romantic fantasy, then I’m sure you will enjoy this one.

I have no idea why I read and finished the book.Hebe is not the kind of girl I like in a heroine and Nick is one of the worst kinds of men I have seen in a book.2 stars instand of one cause somehow I got a little emotional with the characters.

Kinda boring. But i like it how Mortimer had relate Hebe's love affair just like her mother's. Although it wasn't something new, it was refreshing for the story.

I liked it but on the other hand I didn't. I liked the slight mystery and happy ending but too many misunderstandings and disbelief.
Better read the 2nd time around. 4 stars.

Well, these stories of love at first sight are not really for me, specially when the man is a bastard and his only redeem quality in the heroine's eyes are his looks and his sexual prowess. Also, Carole, please get over the "..." you constantly use. And let your heroine talk without the need to add an exclamation point at the end of every sentence.

Well, the story was interesting, I did finish it after all. However, as I said before, I need more deep interactions between the characters for me to buy the "falling in love" part.

Nick Cavendish is determined not to love again and takes care not to have a relationship with the women he beds. After a one night stand with Hebe Johnson he flys to New York, leaving Hebe feeling used and discarded. He finds it impossible to stop thinking about her while away but the sight of a painting which he believes is of Hebe fills him with such jealousy, that on discovering she is pregnant he proceeds to accuse her of gold-digging. When the truth comes to light can he make amends?

This was not good! Set in London, art gallery employee gets knocked up by the galley owner, who she loved before she even met! Because he was rich and a widower with a tragic back story. He decides she’s a gold digger due to a mysterious painting of her he found. That was different. But almost every other sentence ends like this!

Awww. This was mostly so so. I certainly did not feel enough chemistry between H and h. Definitely not one of CM's best books and I've enjoyed a good number of them.
