This is a great book for readers who like suspense, action, adventure, and romance. I was hooked as soon as I read the word "aardvark." After reading about the African mammal, I was pulled into thrilling journey with the most fantastic vocabulary! You could even say that the author used every word in the English language! I couldn't put the book down, which was easy because of its small size! If you want a short, exciting book, The New Webster Encyclopedic Dictionary Of The English Language is the book for you!

This was a very nice volume for students back in the days of books. It has a dictionary covering most the words one would want to know, plus material front and back about etymology, synonyms, popular quotations, business law (really business math), personal names, American history, and so on. None of the extra material is deep or comprehensive, but it will provide some basic information that would orient a student for what to look for in further researches. The Avenil edition is nicely bound, with a gold-embossed, fake-leather cover.

It was much too short for my taste. But I loved it!
