It definitely made me more thoughtful, mindful, and empathetic in regards to previous partners and the breakups themselves. It helped normalize the pain, confusion, and insecurity one feels during a breakup. It made me aware of the danger of solely externalizing or internalizing the blame for a relationship ending. A little bit too “liberal mom” for my tastes, but it was still very helpful. I appreciated how the authors constructed the book as actionable advice.
