The American Roommate
Rosie Graham has a problem. A few, actually. She just quit her well paid job to focus on her secret career as a romance writer. She hasn’t told her family and now has terrible writer’s block. Then, the ceiling of her New York apartment literally crumbles on her. Luckily she has her best friend Lina’s spare key while she’s out of town. But Rosie doesn’t know that Lina has already lent her apartment to her cousin Lucas, who Rosie has been stalking.

The Spanish Love
Catalina Martín desperately needs a date to her sister’s wedding. Especially since her little white lie about her American boyfriend has spiralled out of control. Now everyone she knows—including her ex and his fiancée—will be there and eager to meet him. She only has four weeks to find someone willing to cross the Atlantic and aid in her deception. New York to Spain is no short flight and her raucous family won’t be easy to fool.

About the author

Elena Armas

Elena is a Spanish writer, a self confessed hopeless romantic and a proud book hoarder. Now, she's also the author of International bestseller and soon to be adapted to film The Spanish Love Deception; and instant New York Times bestsellers The American Roommate Experiment and The Long Game. Her books are being translated to over 30 languages–which is bananas, if you ask her.

She hopes her stories make your heart skip a beat or two, your palms a little sweaty, and your cheeks flush in that rosy pink that makes other people want to peek at the page you are reading.

I love both of these so MUCH- Lucas and Aaron are examples of my ideal book-boyfriends- and their relationships with Lina and Rosie are even better if that's possible- and don't get me started on Lina and Rosie- just yes. Yes. Yes. I love them so much-

The Spanish love deception
The Chaotic storytelling has me ponder over all the times when I wanted to read a heterodox ya love story but couldn't due to insufficiency. It's perfectly apt for your spring bookshelf. The theme of this book is “somewhere in condemnation, love starts to bloom like the season spring and feelings develop over time, shortly monsoon arrives as habit and realization, career, responsibilities dawns on. Their love story gets boring in the middle because the plot becomes all about this wedding they attended, nevertheless I have pretty much been consumed in the beginning and towards the end, I assume, due to the office setting, it reminds me of my days when I took off to work for a 9-5 job.

Theme explained on the web :
The Spanish Love Deception included important topics like trust, family pressure, and sexism in the workplace which made it not only a fun but also an important read.

The American roommate experiment

The second book from the love deception series and the last. Pretty much a standalone read even if you don't know what happened in the first part. The story is based on book 1 MC’s best friend Rosie who is struggling to finish her book before the deadline, Somehow she had met Lucas after shifting temporarily to Lina’s apartment only until her apartment finishes getting repaired. After meeting Lucas an elaborated setting is explained for 200 pages and endless steamy scenes in the end that I mostly skimmed read and I can't say what I don't like about this piece but, that in the between whenever I have considered to finish this book, a passionate amount of bottomless slumber have occupied me regardless I am not a stand out for book series I suggest you experience this book on your own. A good book for spring rec.

Rosie’s likes

- [ ] Stalking Lucas
- [ ] Cake
Rosie’s dislikes
- [ ] None

Lucas’s description
Lucas loved pineapple on pizza. He prefers sunrises over sunsets and he has a good laugh, and a handsome smile

fav lines
- [ ] “I have friends in the NYPD.”
- [ ] “The amount of information one could learn from someone’s socials when one looked long and frequently enough was terrifying.”
- [ ] “I often found myself battling between wanting to laugh hysterically and scream warning after warning at myself.”
- [ ] “You’re a sight, Rosie. A fucking sight. Like a mirage. An illusion. What man in his right mind wouldn’t want to see you”
- [ ] “Remember to pick the boy that will plant a garden for you instead of just getting you the flowers, Bean.”

Audiobook. Dumb and did NOT alike the male narrator’s voice at all-whispery Spanish accent. She is a romance writer and has a flood at apartment so she stays at BFF’s house while she is on honeymoon. BFF’s cousin, ex surfer because he had a terrible accident shows up to stay at studio apartment too. She has writers block so they go on “fake” dates to unblock her and give her idea for her next book.

I saw some reviews of these books and decided to give them a shot. Absolutely loved them! If you're looking for a break from Romantasy (a genre I was getting burned out on), these books I would recommend! They have fun and loveable characters, along with quirky situations.
Sometimes I'm a slow reader but I flew through these books.
Kudos to Ms. Armas!
