Rising moon Shining moon, Magic as a June moon.
A story of seasides and summertimes, in June Moon , the rising and setting of the moon mirrors a child’s imaginative play and bedtime routine, all bathed in the natural magic of an evening in June.
With gorgeous illustrations and seamless transitions between reality and the fantasy of a child’s view of the night sky, readers of all ages will reach for this lilting bedtime poem again and again.
Thank you NetGalley and Lynn Becker for an early copy of this book. This is such a cute book! I cannot wait to get a physical copy of this book to read to my daughter! The pictures are bright and so cute! The story is quick, full of rhymes, and a great bedtime story! I would definitely recommend for babies and toddlers as a perfect before bed book!
"June Moon" by Lynn Becker is a charming bedtime tale that beautifully illustrates the connection between a little boy's changing moods and the different phases of the moon. With delightful rhymes and a rhythmic flow, this book is perfect for early readers. Accompanied by captivating illustrations by Nate Carvalho, the vibrant visuals will enchant even the youngest readers, creating a truly delightful reading experience. However, it would be even more engaging with a longer storyline and a named central character.
I just reviewed June Moon by Lynn Becker. #FamiliusBooks #NetGalley
Have you ever stared at the moon with wonder about what an amazing sight? Author Lynn Becker joins forces with beautiful illustrations from Nate Carvalho for JUNE MOON. The rhyming lyrical words are moving and well-chosen with colorful illustrations.
For example:
“Beach moon, Bucket moon, Twirling on a dune moon.”
I love JUNE MOON and it’s an easy book to read over and over as you cuddle your little one. I highly recommend it.
If you are looking for a quick bedtime story with rhyming words and beautiful illustration for you little, then pick up June Moon by Lynn Becker. I enjoyed the silly rhymes, all with the word Moon. This book is more for the pictures than it is the content, but it is still cute. I'd recommend this book for littles 6 months-2 years.
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC! ••• 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a gorgeously illustrated bedtime board book. Simple rhymes with few words nicely flow on each page. The illustrations truly tell the story, following the main character from the start of their day until it ends, as they say goodnight to the June Moon. Definitely recommended for a cozy and light bedtime read!
The illustrations are so soft and happy, the simplicity and coziness are appealing to the eyes. The rhyme is catchy and sweet, I would say a nursery should definitely pick this book up during nap time, a definite sleeper.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.
I think this book might be a modern day classic children's book. This story was so moving and beautiful. The illustrations were also really fun. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I can see it being very popular!! –

(This account is used as a backup Instagram because my original bookstagram account which I created in 2022 has been getting action blocked quite frequently (I was hacked in February 2024 and lost access to my account for about 5 days, and I think that has something do with why I have been having issues with my account. I have reported the issue to Instagram several times). I try to post on Instagram at least 3x a week. I post many NetGalley ARC books on Instagram, but I also enjoy talking about previously released books that I love. With the exception of NetGalley books, I enjoy both listening to and reading all the books I read.
Lyrical and sweetly dreamy, this one takes us through a child's day in a fun way. There are lots of little touches throughout within the pictures that add to the atmosphere without being disruptive. Let's face it, the goal is to lull a child into dreamland. My favorite was the parrot on the Pirate Moon pages. The moon has a cloud teddy, too, at one point so look for it. Grin.
While I'd wish for more of a story, this one was cute and has the nice lyrical repetition that helps lull children to sleep. There's an emphasis on routine, too, as we see the child initially at play, then things slow as the day wanes and bedtime approaches. The colors are largely pastels and at one point the sky seems to even be swirling in the distance, a nice touch. The word choice is simple with repetition, ie nothing jarring to jolt one out of a sleepy mode. There's some whimsy to the story which, again, I wish had been a bit more substantial. The ending seemed abrupt, too, though maybe that was just me. Don't get me wrong, it's a cute book, just not quite what I expected. Much of the humor, which is always a bit plus to me, was conveyed in the illustrations, I'll note. Still, for younger children, this book should be a nice touch, with soft colors and lyrical repetition to help them drift off to sleep after their bedtime routine. Thanks #NetGalley and #Familius for sharing this sneak peek with me. Made me feel like summer was here.
This is a lovely board book. Parents will enjoy reading June Moon to their children before kissing them goodnight. Besides the fact that children love rhyme Lynn Becker wrote. The text along with Nate Carvalho sweet colorful illustrations will grab the attention of the the most active child.
Toddlers will love going on the journey with the little boy who loves the June Moon and uses his imagination to create his own adventures with the June Moon with pirates, mermaids, hunting for treasures, sailing the ocean, splashing in his bathtub, brushing his teeth, getting tired, eyes drifting shut, and cuddling with the Kiss-Me Moon.
In addition to June Moon helping them to fall asleep, the book uses simple words and objects in the illustrations that will provide parents with items to point out and discuss. Young children are sure to pick up on which words go with the text and pictures to help them slowly learn to read.
Thank you so much to Familius and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
This is such a beautiful rhyming book for bed, the words are really soothing and you can visualise the moon in all its forms as the child in the story gets ready for bed. This would be wonderful to read as you are tucking your little one to bed, they’ll be thinking of the wonderful moon and all that it’s doing.
I really enjoyed the rhyming of this book, it was different but it worked and it took you through a child’s imagination as they played, as they got ready for bed and as they started to drift off to sleep.
We also got illustrations that shared the story alongside it, seeing the pirate moon, the teddy moon etc, it was really cute looking at the child’s imagination coming to life, and a child being read this would love to look at them, it’s a very creative lovely book.
June Moon is a vibrant, imaginative, lively, whimsical, creative, exciting, and beautiful story! This stunning story is an ode to the moon, imagination, and bedtime. It combines these three things to weave a simple yet heartfelt story. I can't put my finger on what, but something about this story is written lyrically. It feels like a warm hug and sprinkling of magic which everything childhood should be. I also adore the apparent appreciation for nature throughout this story. I adore this board book!
A few things I loved: the thick board book pages, the vibrant yet soft illustrations, the flow of the writing style, the adorable expressions on the moon, illustrations showcasing the magic of childhood, the gradual transition to bedtime, and the sweet little boy!
This is a bedtime rhyme which was for a young boy in this book. He enjoys his night time pre-sleep with such an adventure ride with his summer moon. However, this summer moon is only effectively lovely in Europe and American continent, in Asia you can't even enjoy nights due to excessive heat.
Though the rhyming was bit average for me, Nate Carvalho’s illustrations were soothing to eyes, which I believe, eventually, make the children happier. Despite the context is very good as Lynn prepared here, words were literally just okay.
I have found a beautiful and adorable bedtime story for your little ones. I love it and more importantly my children love it!!Told in a fun lyrical way we follow along as the little boy follows the moon as it rises and sets. The “magic as a June moon” shows through as the child uses his imagination and dreams to tell the story. We love this calming story as the perfect bedtime routine book. The beautiful illustrations are colorful and captivating, they create a feeling of warmth and comfort that helps little ones relax. We received this as an ebook ARC and couldn’t wait to add it to our home collection and to share it with friends.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with access to read this book!
This summertime board book goes through a child's evening and bedtime routine, with short little rhymes that end in "moon." The repetition will be soothing for young children, even though it may get tiresome for parents, and the illustrations are cute. Overall, this is nice, but I don't feel that there is anything exceptional or memorable about it.
I received a temporary digital copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
A cute, bedtime rhyming story perfect for babies & toddlers! This board book features a playful child getting ready for bed with lyrical text rhyming with moon. Beautiful illustrations engage young readers with seamless transitions between fantasy and reality as the rhythm & cadence provide a fun read-aloud story.
Thank you to NetGalley & Familius for an advanced early digital copy in exchange for our honest review.
In this whimsical, lyrical story, the moon and main character close out the day and prepare for bedtime. Kids will love the playful illustrations, soft colors, and rhythmic text. Parents will appreciate help getting their little ones settled and tucked in at night. This poetic book would make a wonderful baby gift and bedtime ritual. Highly recommend!
I really enjoyed this book, it was cute and I loved the art style and the rhyming of it, however I wish there was a little bit more of a story but that was likely personal preference and I still enjoyed it regardless of that.
I was sent this e-Arc on Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this arc in exchange for my honest review.
This was a simple, warm and cute little book. Starting of with some fun random things and then incorporating a bedtime routine. It made me smile and I think little kids will like to have this read to them while looking at it before bed. It ends in a very calm and beautiful way.
A perfect bedtime board book for your little one. Especially good for summer reading! The author, Lynn Becker, rhymes and repeats her way from an evening on the beach as the sun sets, to the daily activities at home all the way to bedtime. All the rhymes have the moon as the anchor, and the illustrations by Nate Carvalho are adorable. Short, sweet, and good for sleepy time.
I grabbed this book from Net Galley because I thought it looked cute for my daughter. It may have been a bit young for her, she is 6. She did point out that it was a rhyming book hahah. We enjoyed the illustrations a lot. We would recommend this book for the younger readers.
Thank you to Netgalley and Familius for letting us read a copy.
JUNE MOON is such an adorable book! I can imagine parents and little ones reading this book again and again as part of a bedtime routine. The rhyming and illustrations are so calming, sweet, and comforting. A lovely book gift!
I may have found my new go-to book for gifts for new moms and dads. This is the cutest little story. The pictures are beautiful, and the colors are vibrant, sure to appeal to any reader. I love the whimsical rhymes and themed pages. this is a must for little kids’ libraries.
A fun, lyrical and beautifully illustrated book about bedtime routines. Perfect for reading with little ones before their slumber!
P.S. I thought the cover was gorgeous and hence was disappointed by the low quality of the images inside. Hopefully this is just an e-ARC issue. Does not affect my rating.
This book is so sweet, lyrical, and fun to share with others! I read it with my son and thoroughly enjoyed the lyrical writing, colorful illustrations and fun engaging scenes of how the child enjoys each June moon. Highly recommend!!
