Mrs. Entwhistle meets a discontented Amish girl, Anna May, who is looking to make some changes in her life. When she comes for a visit, Mrs. Entwhistle has a front-row seat to witness what happens when worlds collide. Anna May wrestles with the choices that will shape the rest of her life, and Mrs. Entwhistle treads a fine line between minding her own business and her natural inclination to solve other people’s problems. Maxine, Mrs. Entwhistle’s best friend, decides to turn her home into a bed and breakfast, the Amish Inn, and hires Anna May as hostess. A diverse group of people gather there on Christmas Eve, only to be trapped by an ice storm. Personalities are peeled back and characters are revealed in the sudden emergency.
The delightful Mrs. E is always up to something. Doris Reidy writes with humor and warmth, and I feel like I'm right there in the story. Love these stories!
This book is wonderful! I hated to see it and because I love all of the characters, setting, story lines it's just a wonderful book. I love the whole series but I really feel this is the best written and I will definitely go back and read all the books over thank you Doris Reidy!!!!!
Although I enjoy the Mrs Entwhistle's adventures, this book had several problems in logic that were disturbing enough to affect the reading pleasure. First the Amish connection...Mrs. Ent whistle's grandfather was supposed to have been Anna May's mother's great grandfather. But he had left the Amish while a young lad and gone English. He could not have fathered children that grew up in the Amish community as he had left that lifestyle. Totally illogical. Why didn't the author make him like a great uncle or cousin, which would have worked? Another logic glitch occurred during the ice storm. After a power outage, Mrs E turns on the ceiling fan to air out a smoke filled room. Really? They are using candles and building fires to keep warm, but miraculously the electric ceiling fan works? I am disappointed that the author and editors were not more careful.
i will say i don't usually pick up Amish reads ...but i found this one in KU. i love a good B & B. we have been to several in the past. they are perfect for those moments you need to be close to a location and or whatnot. but sometimes they are tough to get into. you gotta really search. will hope to read more from Dora soon.
Mrs. E and her friend Maxine work to convert Maxine’s house into a bed and breakfast. Their Amish friend, Annamay will run the bed and breakfast. Many decisions need to be made by the characters and we as spectators get to follow them as they let circumstances guide them. Some surprises will keep the story fresh.
It is so nice to read a book that isn't gory or gross or have profanity in it. I love how she takes the story along at a good pace. I could barely put the book down.
This was my first Mrs Entwhistle adventure. I thought it was a good story, it was fun, adventurous and kept me interested throughout following the characters lives. I love the B&B aspect of the story.
As much as I enjoyed this story, I was sad to see it end. I'm hoping that it's not the end of Mrs. Entwhistle and that we will be blessed with another book this year. I loved Anna May and the Amish Inn but was happy to see all the old friends (Dex/Lara/baby, Delilah/Sanjay, and Mr./Mrs. Patel) gathered at the Inn to celebrate Maxine's new venture. It was nice that Anna May had a support system to help her with whatever her decision in life would be.
