Superb National Museum of Wales book about a derelict and vandalised church at Llandeilo Tal-y-bont taken down, re-erected and restored at St. Fagans Museum of Welsh Life just outside Cardiff. The amount of detail given of the methods used, to save the medieval wall paintings for instance, made it almost feel as if I was stood by watching the work. The restoration involved a huge amount of research which enabled the internal decoration, furnishings etc to return the church to how it probably appeared in the early 1500s.
As soon as lock down is over,I must get over to St Fagans to see the results, though the book is full of stunning photos.

I purchased this book after seeing St. Teilo's, as I was curious to know more about it.
The writing in this is uninspired and a bit hard to get into, but the information conveyed is interesting. There are loads of color pictures and plates, which is the main thing I'll probably return to if I pick this up again.
