Bigger and fluffier, Lovable Lucy is back in the second book of the Lovable Lucy Series. Lucy is ready to play and explore her neighborhood. What happens when Lucy faces challenges and apprehension when learning new skills? How do her family and neighbors help Lucy build her confidence?
Little Lovable Lucy You’re So Big is a patient, caring story helping children understand the challenges and rewards of learning new skills and the importance of never giving up. This inclusive, read-aloud children’s book is great for beginning readers.
“Gentle in spirit and smartly crafted, the second entry in Roth and Penn’s picture-book series about puppy Lucy brings fresh challenges for its canine heroine.” Kirkus – Recommended Review
True, stories about dogs have been a staple in children's literature for many years. Also true that there are many picture books written from a dog's viewpoint. Norma Roth's book is a simple but charming animal point-of-view story showing that growing up with a pet is a wonderful experience for little kids. While learning, little Lucy offers a model of behavior children can copy and also learn. The moral lesson of the closely-observed details of little loveable Lucy's life is not big but good enough - children are encouraged to have empathy for animals and be kind to each other. The illustrations are admirable and numerous - I am sure the little reader will be thrilled to follow looking for details. I received a free copy of LITTLE LOVEABLE LUCY, YOU'RE SO BIG! from the author.
This is the second book about Lucy the dog that I have read. Both books resemble each other, describing the everyday life of a family who adopted a puppy.
Lucy is a grown dog now; she needs some training and more care. But as the story goes young readers will understand that she plays an important role in bringing the family together. The book is well illustrated, the diversity is well represented, and the importance of being responsible is well developed.
Overall, it is a lovely story about patience and the importance of never giving up because each challenge is rewarding and helps us to learn something new. It is a good book that shows children what to expect when a pet joins the family.
This book is engaging as it tells the story of a family who adopts a new puppy and the challenges they face along the way. It shows how much fun it is to teach a puppy new behavior while being patient and kind as she learns.
The family helps Lucy, the puppy, feel brave about unfamiliar sounds and experiences. In the end, the message is amazing: By working as a team, the whole family can help Lucy hit her milestones.
This is a wonderful book that teaches young children responsibility. It shows how the puppy becomes part of the family through the loving care of the kids and adults looking after her. It is the perfect book for youngsters who have a new pet and are wondering how training a pet and living with the pet will evolve.
Little Lovable Lucy is back only this time this adorable dog is getting bigger and is struggling with learning commands like sit, stay, lie down and roll over. She also gets tangled up in her leash and is timid when it comes to climbing up and down stairs. Another delightful book in the Little Lovable Lucy series that tugs at readers’ heart strings and shows empathy and understanding between a family and a dog. The bright, bold, cartoon-like illustrations and simple vocabulary will engage young readers 3 to 7 years. Great gift or addition to home and school libraries.
The story beautifully imparts lessons of perseverance, patience, and the importance of never giving up, making it an excellent choice for young readers. The vibrant and engaging illustrations bring Lucy and her adventures to life, making it an enjoyable read for both children and their parents. This book not only highlights the joys of having a pet but also teaches valuable life lessons through Lucy's experiences.
What a sweet little story about getting to know your new puppy, and puppy getting to know it's humans. The illustrations are quite lovely, and the book takes the reader through some of the basics of puppyhood: leash walking, playing outdoors, learning commands; all with the family. The text is little repetitive, so perhaps the adult reader can add a few more details about the joys and challenges of raising a new dog.
My daughter and I loved reading about Lucy, a sweet pup with fun and sweet stories about life with her humans. The story teaches children about perseverance and how learning new skills can be hard, but in the end it's worth it! The illustrations are beautiful! We enjoyed how adorable Lucy is. It's a captivating series that kids and their parents will enjoy reading together every night.
So happy my friend gave me a copy of this book! This is the second book in the series and is really adorable. Lucy learns patience and the importance of never giving up. It helps children learn about the challenges and rewards of learning new skills! Most importantly, that although sometimes things will be tough, you need to face it and never give up!
We were excited to discover the second book in this series because we fell in love with Lucy in the first book. It is neat to see her growing and learning new tricks. I love the underlying message of being persistent and never giving up. This would also be a great tool for children participating in training puppies.
Illustrations are wonderful and Lucy is so happy to learn new tasks with her family. She doesn't give up, and keeps trying even if she's scared. This would also be a great story for children who are considering getting a pet, because it demonstrates some of the responsibilities that come with that.
A fun little series that will have your children begging for more.
Lucy's first book made us fall in love, so we were thrilled to find the second in this series. It's interesting to watch her develop and pick up new skills. I love the underlying lesson of never giving up and remaining persistent. This would be an excellent resource for kids who are training puppies as well.
MESSAGE OF PATIENCE, RESILIENCY, & SUPPORT! A good story about patience and the importance of never giving up. Little Lovable Lucy You're So Big is a caring story helping children understand the challenges and rewards of learning new skills! We enjoyed the illustrations and energy behind this book’s message about a pet & its family!
Puppy Little Lucy is super cute as she learns new skills at home and in the neighborhood. I love the layout of this book and story - it's like playing candy land or chutes and ladders. Super fun for little readers.
A delightful story to teach children confidence through a dog as a mentor. Beautiful illustrations. I love that a multi-racial family was used as a backdrop for this story line. Something you don't get to see very often in children's books.
This is such a sweet book. What I liked most about it was the voice of the author. It brings it to the child’s voice and they can hear the words with their own space and not something coming from above.
I love dogs ( my family and I have 4), so this made this book very enjoyable for me. It is a wonderful children's book that shows what it means to grow up with a pet as a part of the family. The illustrations are lovely! I received a copy of the book from the author for free.
Lovable Lucy is bigger and learns more lessons and gets encouragement along the way. Would be a good book for young children, especially if they have a dog or are about to. Very cute story and illustrations. I received a copy of the book from the author for free.
My kids loved it! Very cute story about a doggie and her adventures. Illustrations are very captivating. My oldest daughter read the story aloud as if she were the pup and she loved every moment of it. Definitely worth having in the home collection!
This is a sweet story about a loving family training a puppy. This will be a fun read for any family with a new puppy. Training takes patience and love; and when a family works together the results are joyful. Definitely recommend!
