Read this on a whim to see what you need to know - loads of history it seems, in a nice potted version. Plus a bit of nationalistic claptrap, obviously!

...I would fail. Please deport me!

I'm sure that if you had to take the test this book would be as good as any, so I can't really fault the book.

The concept of a Citizenship test was too intriguing for me to pass up on a visit to the library. How after all, do you test a citizen?
What I was hoping for was the sort of information that natives never actually know - things about the minutiae of the workings of Parliament or local government for example; or maybe a potted history of England. No. Well how about something on Democracy, free speech, that sort of thing? Nah. Ah well how about something a bit softer - things about drinking tea, not complaining and moaning about the weather? Not a word.

It's a dull book about an incredibly dull test...and I starting to worry that I live in a country dull enough to do this sort of nonsense.
