Betrayed by her only remaining family, Eileen Rendall is forced to leave her precious Appalachian Mountain home, all she has ever held dear, and board a train bound westward. With a loveless marriage looming at the end of her journey, she has only herself left. So, when the very fabric of who she is comes under threat, she runs... straight from one marriage of convenience into another. But how could she possibly say no to Davis Anderson's Scottish lilt that reminds her so much of her own, or the innocent pair of big, brown eyes that peer up at her from behind his legs?
After a failed marriage, Davis Anderson had been content to live his solitary existence deep in the heart of the Ozark Mountains where there were no women to disappoint. But his world is turned upside down when he unexpectedly becomes the guardian of his young niece. Knowing he can never be the parent the girl deserves, he must take a wife. A wife whom he can never let get too close.
As a Christian wife and mom located in rural Kentucky, Andrea Byrd has a deep affinity for an old-fashioned, natural lifestyle. Often described as having been born outside her time, she loves to spend time with her family in the great outdoors, one with nature.
With a degree in Equine Health & Rehabilitation gathering dust and a full-time job tethering her to a desk eight hours a day, Andrea decided it was high time to invoke change in her life. To show her children it is truly possible to make your dreams come true, she dove into the role of Christian Romance author with her debut series, Smoky Mountain Romance.
Eileen is running from those who hurt her most but also from the fear of an unknown future. She is scared of giving her heart again, but Bonnie and Davis gradually work their way past her defenses and burrow in deep. Is she brave enough to embrace this love? Davis lost his heart once, it was ripped from his chest and left him bitter and alone...until Bonnie and Eileen show him that love should be unconditional and that opening his heart doesn't have to be painful. A sweet addition to the series, I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
This is a sweet love story of love and tragedy. Eileen is a beautiful young woman from the Appalachian mountain with a family. Her father and mother have passed and her brother now was head of the family. This year the drought caused their crops to fail and now with not enough food they could not make it through the harsh winter. Her sister was marring a neighbor and a young sister was going to go with them and the eldest boy was leaving to find work. Eileen’s brother has promised to a distant relation for an arranged marriage and certainly not to her liking. She takes the train to go to the cousin only takes a detour to find her own happiness. She meets Davis and his young niece and the marry for a marriage of connivence. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
This is a sweet and heart warming story yet one full of human frailties, which include betrayal, fear, hurt, and grief. It also includes faith, hope and romance. This is Eileen Rendell and Davis Anderson's story, as well as Davis' niece Bonnie. Eileen was forced from her home and heads west to become a MOB but ponders whether or not she is jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Davis has been hurt terribly in the past by a woman and although he knows he needs a wife to help him raise his niece he vows to never love her. Will his resolve hold out? As they work together, will feelings grow and become a HEA? Be sure and read this great story to find out; I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
I really liked this book. Eileen feels stuck when her brother is forcing her to leave home. Thankfully, she meets a fellow Scot who has a solution to her problems. Davis is raising his newly orphaned niece and knows he'll need a woman's help. Will Eileen and Davis be able to make a marriage of convenience work? This was a clean, sweet read. Marriage of convenience is one of my favourite plots so I was very happy with this book.
This is a sweet, happy book that left me smiling. I liked the author's description of the setting. It made me feel as if I were there in person. Such a touching love story.
I liked the book Eileen because it is a short 126 page novella--perfect for a one sitting read. It is a historical marriage of convenience story that takes place in 1886. Eileen Rendall and Davis Anderson meet and become a family to his little orphaned niece. It is a clean Christian read.
