Sterling

It’s always been her, and I just never realized. Now that I’m looking at her that way, I can’t unsee it… and I don’t want to. Alyssa has been my best friend since kindergarten, and these intense new feelings could cost me our friendship.

She’s the one I share everything with, good or bad. It makes sense to share my life with her. But I can’t risk losing the only woman I’ve ever loved, which will happen if she doesn’t feel the same.

Alyssa is loyal and kind and takes my breath away. I just wish it hadn’t taken me so long to figure out what’s been right in front of me.

Alyssa

Falling for my best friend is easy, but keeping it to myself while figuring out what to do about it is the hard part. Because in a small town, everyone knows everyone… and their business.

Sterling is the perfect guy—handsome, with a heart of gold and a protective streak. I know he’ll do anything for me… except maybe admit he feels the same way I do.

So, I’m stuck in limbo and am in love with my best friend. Just when I work up the nerve to finally tell him how I feel, everything changes with a confession and two words: stay tonight.

OMG what a slow burn this was. The build up from friends to lovers is filled with well meaning family and friends, who just want them to admit they were perfect for each other.

Sterling and Alyssa have been best friends since they were babies. But now the time has come for them to finally open their eyes and see what was in front of them the whole time - their match made in heaven. I actually liked the fact that they got together at almost the end of the book. I want to say it bothered me how long it took for them to confess their feelings out loud but the truth is the way Kaylee Ryan build up the time line all I could think is PERFECT!

I'm so in love with Kincaid brother's it crazy. If someone asked me to pick one it would be impossible task.

Stay Tonight- Sterling and Alyssa

Sterling and Alyssa have been best friends since Kindergarten. And everyone that comes across them inquires, are you a couple? To their, No, best friends. But they have been through everything together, and the one they measure others to. Everyone knows they are meant to be together, everyone but them.

Another good read. Love the world that is created with the Kincaid brothers and everyone attached to them. I have to admit, as much as I wanted to love this, it was just ok. The whole story was will they won’t they so any real plot took a backseat. Also, to be best friends and to tell each other everything and then this one thing they had no communication so that was annoying also. This is still a sweet read and now ready to move to the next.

I love this series - I absolutely love the Kincaid family (I mean where do I find myself a Kincaid brother?)

I'm still a bigger fan of the 4th book, but this one still hits. Still is very cute.

And the award for swooniest Kincaid brother goes to...... Sterling!!

OMG! I’m telling you all, these Kincaid Brothers may be the death to me! I can’t stop swooning! Each book is greater than the one before!! Kaylee Ryan, what are you doing to me!?

Stay Tonight by Kaylee Ryan is the third full length novel in the Kincaid Brothers series. If you’re new to this series, here’s some sound advice… run to your nearest computer/kindle/eReader and download the prequel Stay Always followed by the full length novels Stay Over, Stay Forever, and Stay Tonight!! Trust me, if you’re in the mood for a swoony read with all the feels, DON’T HESITATE!!! Pick up this series! You won’t regret it!!

Stay Tonight is Sterling Kincaid’s story and how he found his happily ever after with the most unexpected person, in his mind. His best friend, Alyssa.

Alyssa is caught between a rock and a hard place. She loves her job, but hates the fact that the manager is a royal pain in her ass. A vacation with her best friend, his clan of brothers, and their wives is exactly what she needs. Alyssa’s life is about to change in a drastic way. When her friends decide to question her about her and Sterling’s relationship the feelings she buried beneath the surface decide to resurface. Life as she knows it has changed. For better or for worse, that has yet to be determined.

Sterling Kincaid has everything he could possibly want out of life. He has a career as a welder, a clan of brothers he can depend on whenever he’s in a jam, and a best friend who would do anything for him and vice versa. But all that is about to change, when he’s suddenly woken up to his feelings for Alyssa. He’s about to come to the realization that Alyssa may just be more than his best friend, she may be his soul mate. Only time will tell.

My Thoughts:

My heart loved every moment of Sterling and Alyssa’s storybook romance! I literally can’t stop smiling. I finished this book a few days ago and I’m still sitting here feeling a heart full of love with a wide smile on my face. Kaylee Ryan has a way of leaving her readers with that fulfilled feeling. I start her novels with this high level of expectations and she always seems to bump that benchmark position up a couple more pegs. And that’s why she will forever be one of my favorite authors!

Alyssa and Sterling are two peas in a pod. I knew the moment I opened this novel, these characters would quickly consume my every thought. Alyssa and Sterling have been best friends since grade school. They lived their lives doing everything together and to this day they follow that very same routine. I loved their thick-as-thieves vibe. When there was one, you wouldn’t have to look too far to find the other.

Now let’s talk about these characters. First up is Sterling. This man, like all the other Kincaid brothers, is a man who lives by the code of honor, kindness, and respect. There is not one single mean bone in the man’s body. He’s the epitome of the boy next door. I loved the fact that Sterling’s characteristics leaned heavily toward the sweetheart scale. This is a man you can depend on, but don’t let that fool you, he does have a tiny spicy side. Especially after he came to terms with his feelings for Alyssa. I loved Sterling! My heart is still giddy for this Kincaid brother!!

And then we have Alyssa. Alyssa is one of a kind, but given the fact that she grew up and gained respect from the Kincaid Brothers, that was to be expected. The thing I loved most about Alyssa was the fact that she was independent, but didn’t shy away from receiving help from Sterling. I also loved the fact that she mentally worked through her feelings toward Sterling before diving head first. Her friendship with Sterling was the most important relationship she knew in her life, and she was going to do everything in her power to keep it from being tarnished. These two were honest to god, Couple Goals throughout this whole novel, even when they weren’t a couple. I loved how everything flowed easily between the two of them. I knew there was more to Sterling and Alyssa than they thought and I remember numerous times I begged and pleaded for them to FINALLY confess their feelings for one another. There is no denying, Kaylee Ryan brought the slow-burn game to this one.

Overall, I have a new favorite Kincaid Brother!! You know, they say the hardest reviews to write are from your favorite novels. That rings true with Stay Tonight by Kaylee Ryan. It’s only the fifth day of 2023 and I already added a book to my 2023 favorites list! I’m not kidding when I say this series gets better with each book written! Kaylee Ryan is a rockstar at her craft and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us with the Kincaid Brothers series! I need more Kincaids in my life!

No one gives me the swoony butterflies like Kaylee Ryan! Stay Tonight is such a tender, heartfelt, and deliciously sweet friends to lovers love story. This feel good story is such a breath of fresh air, a blissful and light real world escape. A dreamy book boyfriend, a sweet and lovable heroine, and a slow burning romantic chemistry- what more could you want!?

Our latest Kincaid is the dreamboat Sterling, who has ever emerging secret romantic feelings for his best friend Alyssa. But they’ve been best friend since they were kinder babies, and he’s not sure if her feelings are evolving too. LIttle does he know, the sweet and kind Alyssa wants more with him too. And it’s hard not to fall in love with both of them as they embrace what is bubbling up between them.

I love the friends to lover approach to this story- Kaylee builds such a vivid and believable camaraderie between them. We spend much of the book in the friendship zone with them, so we really get to see how authentic and connected these two are. Their chemistry sparkles- they KNOW each other, they are intimately connected to one another’s lives and practically members of each other’s families. The romantic pace is leisurely- definitely a slower burn. I do wish we got to see them together sooner, or had a bit more time exploring their dynamic once they go all in, but I just adored both characters and loved watching them figure out their feelings and falling into them.

As always, we have some great family Kincaid fun as part of this story- all the richer since Alyssa knows the family so well. Loving this Kincaid crew!

This was a really cute and warm childhood best friends to lovers! I enjoyed it! Alyssa and Sterling were so sweet. This was a very lighthearted and had little to no drama. They had a misunderstanding but it was resolved quickly.

So the thing is that it was kinda frustrating, not in a bad way, that they did all these couple stuff and be like 'oh no we are just besties'. Like they were so touchy with all the hugs and the kisses on the temple, he mowing her lawn and her doing his laundry and helping him pack, having dinner in each other houses and sooo much more stuff. They were literally like an old couple blind to see what was there because they didn't want to ruin a 20-year-old friendship, which I kinda understand but still. In the whole book they were single but they mention they've had exes and let me tell you, I don't know who they are but I would feel bad for them if they acted like that even if they were in a relationship with another person. The friendship between the sisters-in-law was so cute and shout out to them for stating the obvious to Alyssa and Sterling so they could finally get their act together😂 Also is kinda slow-burn. I wanted to see more of their dynamic as a couple!

I was really looking forward to Sterling and Alyssa’s story but it felt like a lot of avoidance. They were best friends, realized they were in love with each other, yet they didn’t get together until practically the end.

It just was a lot of, we need to talk and stuff kept coming up. I just thought that a friends to lovers story would have progressed a little quicker, especially since they were already intimately touching and doing things couples do. I was just ready for it to be over. I only finished it because I want to read all the books in this series.

This one was OK. I felt like it dragged on a little too long. I also didn't really feel the chemistry between the couple who supposedly had been best friends since kindergarten. It felt like the "in love" feelings were forced.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

So I really struggled to finish this one, not because it wasn’t good but because friends to lovers isn’t my favorite trope.
What I liked was the two main characters and I really enjoyed the interaction between the brothers and the sister-in-law‘s. Sterling and Alyssa have been friends since elementary school. Everyone in both families can see how they feel about each other. But both are afraid that if they say anything they could lose each other as friends. The brothers and sister-in-law‘s start planting the seeds in to their minds that they are more than just best friends, but the two fight it a lot, especially Alyssa. That’s the part that was hardest for me. They were each always doing sweet and special things for one another, dinners together every night, movies, family dinners, family trips, and special outings with just the two of them. It’s like come on guys you already act like a couple, just figure it out and move forward. I didn’t get how Alyssa couldn’t figure out how Sterling felt, he really ramped up the heat, ramped up the touching, the kisses, and the slightly suggestive banter, yet this girl constantly either didn’t accept it or fought it. It finally takes a mean girl who has been trying to get her claws into Sterling for Alyssa to really lose it. She thinks she’s lost him, but thankfully Sterling’s sister-in-law Kennedy is there to tell him what the mean girl did to Alyssa to make it seem like they were going to be dating. He rushes to her house and at about 85% into the book they finally confessed their feelings to one another and have their first time together. He’s been celibate for two years she just says she’s clean but I assumed roughly same time frame since previous books don’t have them being with anyone else. Bedroom banter was ok, they allude to their past lovers. After that, it’s more feel good times with the family, telling her parents who knew this was inevitable one day, telling his family, they also all knew it was inevitable. They move in together and Sterling proposes in a cute way with pics of all their milestone moments, and of course, she says yes.
I understand the whole doubting and being scared is supposed to build sexual tension in the story but it just felt like it wasn’t necessary. Especially since Alyssa ignores the building tension. I would’ve liked to have seen them confess their feelings at the 50% mark and then them building on that relationship as a romantically together couple. I loved seeing all the other family members and look forward to the other single brother’s books.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

*4 stars*

Alyssa and Sterling, or as they often call themselves "Tink and Tank", have been best friends from a very young age and are very protective of one another (especially Sterling). Since I started reading them I could see the dynamic that existed between them, they were practically like a married couple, but they were too blinded to see it.

They were the only people who didn't realize how much in love they were with each other. Everyone could see it, except them. And I loved the way the author developed how they became aware of their feelings. Nothing was rushed or without foundation, not did it happen overnight. They weren't the best friends in love with each other and hiding their feelings, they really believed that they would be friends forever. It was a process, a very good one.

They had so much trust in each other, I loved how Sterling would always insisted to her that she was part of the family when she didn't believe it or how worried he was always about her best friend. Their friendship was too tender and beautiful, they both complemented each other so well.

My favorite parts are always the jealousy scenes and here they were not lacking. When Sterling's brothers calling Alyssa "my girl" was so funny. And the group chats? They got me so many laughs, especially when the brothers teased Sterling.

The level of drama and angst was perfect, not too much or too little, what happened barely lasted because Sterling took it upon himself to fix it. I only got angry when one of them was determined to confess and suddenly something happened that prevented them. And when it's finally about to happen, this character appears that I won't mention but with her mere presence I hated.

I have to mention how much I loved Rushton, I'm really looking forward to reading his story now that I know he's next. I need more of him. And Ryder, I also want to know what will happen to their relationship.

“I want to make sure me and my girl have some privacy.” He winks at me as Sterling growls.
“Fuck off, Rush.” Sterling slaps his arm away and pulls me to stand closer to his side.
“You couldn’t handle me,” I tease Rushton.
“Tink.” Sterling’s tone is clearly a warning. One that Both Rushton and I ignore.
“I’ll take that wager, ” he replies confidently.
(Rushton I need your book soon)

I am absolutely loving the romances of the Kincaid brother series. Full of all kinds of feels, these stories are have been wonderfully sexy, swoony, romantic escapism reads that I cannot get enough of. I enjoyed Sterling and Alyssa very much and have been curious about them since they were introduced. Their banter was sexy, their history was amazing and their connection could be felt right off the pages.

Friends to lovers stories is one of my favorite trope elements, and Stay Tonight was a heart-tugging one dating back to the hero and heroine’s childhood. They were the kind of couple you just couldn’t help but root for, and I was cheering them on every second of the way. There’s definitely underlying and undeniable feelings between Sterling and Alyssa and it’s obvious to everyone but them. Everything about their chemistry and connection was magnetic and I’m so glad they crossed the friendship line.

Stay Tonight was such a heartwarming and sexy love story. Sterling and Alyssa have been friends fighting their pull for years, and this created the kind of longing that really tugs at the heartstrings. Add in all of that explosive chemistry, the deep emotion and the fact that they were close to what they both wanted, and this was a deliciously addictive, tender and romantic love story.

Ryan really hit it out of the park with Stay Tonight!

Friends to lovers is one of my favourite tropes and it's not always done in a believable way but Ryan did a fantastic job. The friendship between the main characters has lasted their entire lives (since kindergarten) and they have always been each other's person. Their friendship actually reminded me of the friendship in the movie Made of Honor. The relationship is a super slow burn. The slow burn made the romance more realistic to me since they have been lifelong friends and moving from the friend zone is difficult/scary. The romance was super swoony too! The hero is definitely going to be on readers' book boyfriend lists.

My one complaint would be that I would have liked for them to get together a bit sooner since the slow burn was for most of the book. I just wanted to see them happy sooner haha.

These two had really great chemistry. The build-up to the romance really aided the steam factor.

I would recommend this for readers who enjoy: friends to lovers, slow burn, one bed, and small town romance.

Stay Tonight gave me this warm feeling that blanketed my entire body. It was like the sun shining after nothing but rain for months. I needed this desperately because I have forgotten why I love to read as much as I do, and this author just brought it all back to me. This is why I am a fan favorite of this author. She pulls me where I need to be pulled. She touches me in ways that very few could but most importantly, she always leaves me heart happy.

Sterling and Alyssa are the epitome of true best friends. I could feel their comfortability for one another pouring off the pages which made this friends to lovers development even more impactful. The fact that they both was comfortable with each others family, made it their friendship even more authentic. It made for truly one of a kind dialogue that you only get from people that are comfortable and compatible around one another.

There was no rush from the friends to the lovers aspect, but with every page turned you could feel the tension grow. Once the tension reached its peak? Boom. Like lightening. Stay Tonight held every dang amazing quality known to man. It was Amazing. I can’t wait for the rest of this series.

This book reminded me while I fell in love with Kaylee Ryan's writing. This book is perfect!!! The characters, the progression of the romance, all the swoon worthy moments, the love, everything was perfect. Seriously, I cannot say one bad thing about this book. This might be Kaylee Ryan's best book to date!!

Sterling and Alyssa have been best friends since kindergarten. They have had crushes on each other, but never acted on it because they didn't want to ruin their friendship, but now things are starting to change. Slowly they are starting to see each other differently. Was Alyssa always that beautiful? Did Sterling always have those amazing abs?? And when they share a kiss and bed together all bets are off.

This book was perfect. The way they went from friends to lovers, all the worries. And the one little baby hiccup was solved so fast and Sterling was absolutely perfect! You will not be able to put this book down because all you want is to see these two together. Their friendship was beautiful, but their relationship was perfection!

5 She’s What He Needs Stars!

I loved Sterling and Alyssa’s story so much. Kaylee Ryan did a wonderful job with the slow burn building up to them admitting their love for each other. This story moves a great pace given the small town they live in and all the time these two spend together. There was a little bit of angst but nothing over the top, it was in fact the right amount for this story.

The more Kincaid books I read the more in love I fall with the family dynamics and how they're so involved in each other's lives. This family is all about togetherness and being in and out of each other’s business. There were some laugh out loud moments that I wasn’t expecting either!

With each book, we’re seeing different sides of each of the brothers along with their better halves, if they’re married. There really doesn’t seem to be any topic that’s off limits to these Kincaid’s LOL!

There’s a few surprises in this book that I’m sure will lead to future stories for the remaining unattached brothers and I’m here for each and every story!

The friendship that Alyssa shares with Sterling started when they were children and has only grown stronger through the years. She knows him just as well as she knows herself and she can’t imagine life without him in it so despite her attraction to him she isn’t about to jeopardize one of the most important relationships in her life.

Sterling has always known how important that Alyssa is in his life as they have been there for each other whether is a success to be celebrated or a difficult time to overcome. He has been denying his true feelings for her however all it will take is his family and one night to realize that some rewards are worth the risk.

The friends to lovers’ story of Alyssa and Sterling is one you don’t want to miss. I enjoyed seeing them push the parameters of their relationship and see what they truly are to each other and catching up with the rest of the family is always fun.

★ Arc Review ★

Genre: Contemporary romance
Tropes: Best friends to lovers
Standalone: Yes
Series: Kincaid Brothers #3
Cliffhanger: No
Rating: 3 ⭐

I received this ARC month ago and finally today I felt like reading this. It was a good read. But I didn't like that they were in a denial for a long time. I mean the whole book is about them avoiding to confess to each other.

His family was so amazing and support. And I loved how they involved her in every single gathering. But his brothers and sister in laws really pushed them too much. It's hard to believed that their family pushed them and that is why they suddenly realised that they are in love. It kinda felt unrealistic.

Overall I enjoyed it. The family really played important role to make this book enjoyable.

I adored Sterling and Alyssa. These two were so amazing. I loved the beautiful friendship that they had. I loved how they were both so oblivious to the committed relationship that they were in until his family pointed it out to them. I loved how committed they were to each other once they went all in. It was such a beautiful story . . . that was tainted by how repetitive it was. Both of them kept saying over and over and over again that they were going to confess their feelings but never did. It really took away from their story by dragging that on and on. Then it once the conflict was resolved it was over in a flash; all kinds of stuff was then rushed to finish out their story. Kind of a bummer. Still really loved the book and was glad to get Sterling and Alyssa's story, still loving the Kincaid Brothers. 3.75 Stars for me.

This friends-to-lovers was a beautiful slow burn and I loved it.

Sterling and Alyssa are best friends. Their relationship is closer than any married couple. They share meals and take care of things the other one needs to be done. She shops for him and he mows her yard. They have each other in the friend zone and don’t see each other as anything but a friend. They even talk about how lucky the other’s future significant other will be to have them (don’t worry there aren’t others). Everyone sees what they don’t.

I’m not always a fan of slow burn romance. It has to be done well for me to enjoy it and not get bored. Let me just say, this one was done well!!! I never once got bored. The build-up of the two recognizing their own feelings towards the other and finally sharing those feelings with the other was perfect. There was no rush to their romantic relationship.

Sterling is from the huge Kincaid family. His family is close and Alyssa is treated as part of the family. I loved the banter and humor from the entire Kincaid family.

This book was sweet, had no drama, and left me feeling warm. It pulled me in and I couldn’t put it down. Sterling is kind, caring, and so protective….a trait I love.

So this can be read as a standalone, but trust me you will love the Kincaid family and want to get to know them all. I highly recommend the entire series, reading them in order.

slow burn swoon 💕🥰

As someone who doesn’t tend to enjoy friends to lovers (I’m more of an E2L girlie) this is one of my new favorite CR🥹 The Kincaid family is just full of top tier book husbands and Sterling might be my number one out of the nine brothers right now. These two have been best friends for decades and finally it clicks into place that they can’t imagine their futures settled down with anyone besides each other. Kaylee Ryan has created a small town romance world with a beautiful family dynamic and I can’t get enough of the Kincaid Brothers!

🔥

“You are a part of me. These pictures are just a snapshot of the life we’ve lived together. And they’re barely a chapter in the book we’re about to write.”

This is my first time reading this author and it won’t be my last. This book had me at friends to lovers. Sterling is definitely a new book boyfriend.

Alyssa and Sterling have been friends since kindergarten and now years later they are nothing short of a married couple especially since they do everything together from cooking to shopping to going on family vacations. Everyone else around them see just how great of a couple they would be but they don’t see it because they spent so much time defending their friendship to everyone. But once Sterling’s family starts talking about how Alyssa & him should get together, that’s all he can think about but he also can’t stop think about losing her as his best friend if she doesn’t feel the same way. Alyssa has also always had a crush on Sterling but she tucked her feelings always because she not willing to risk her friendship but with everyone questioning if there something more to their relationship, she starts to think maybe it could become more. Will they finally get their HEA or will they be to afraid to risk it?

Their chemistry was amazing from start to finish because they had such a strong foundation as friends. This book was such a good slow burn and watching them finally see one another in a new light was so amazing. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I loved all their moments together from them cooking for each other to their jealous moments to them finally admitting their feelings.

“Life is about chances, Sterling. Don’t lose her. Just love her a little harder.”

Book three in the Kincaid brothers series brings us Sterling’s story. While my heart falls for another Kincaid brother, his best friend might have his. Sterling and Alyssa have been friends since kindergarten. They behave like a couple yet are the best of friends; maybe they should take the leap and try to be more. A deliciously slow burn of a story, and we also catch up with the others in the family.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

I loved Sterling and Alyssa's story. It's so sweet, so romantic. I loved their friendship and the shift in their relationship didn't feel like it was not worth it and it's not about the physical for them. It's genuine love for each other. I think their friendship has cemented a very strong foundation for their relationship that it didn't feel rushed at all. In contrast, it felt a little slow burn. There were a lot of missed opportunities that I wished they just take the plunge as soon as they realise it. But this works for them and I loved their family or should I say their cheerleaders. They're the biggest reason why they finally realised they're more than best friends to each other. I can't wait for more of the Kincaids.

This was another cute on to the series. I liked how everyone but Sterling and Alyssa realized that these 2 should be a couple and how everyone kept doing things so that they would finally see. But even when that happened it took months before any real move was made and even then Sterling did something because he learned Alyssa thought she lost him. When they finally went public with their relationship, everyone's words were, "Finally!"

Stay Tonight is book three and another great read in the series. Sterling Kincaid and Alyssa have only been best friends since kindergarten and never acted on the secret feelings they both had for each other. I loved the chemistry and connection they had. Sterling was so swoony, sexy and protective of Alyssa. Alyssa was sweet woman. The friends to lovers aspect was a slow burn and I did wish that there was more of Sterling and Alyssa's relationship but it was still so good. I love this family and can't wait for more!
