Aladdin homes are definitely among of my favorites. They make such wonderful use of small spaces. Of course some of the houses , such as the "New Eden", are just absurdly small.Still, they are fabulous and solid homes.I wonder if any building company today would offer a "dollar a knot" guarantee for their lumber!Hah!
I've collected several of Dover's reproduction of house plans--Victorian and early twentieth century styles. But this is a charming one, aimed at people who didn't have a lot of money, and the plans do make good use of space. (I suspect that a number of homes in my neighborhood were based on these; they're built in about the right time period.)
Not all "built in a day" homes came from Sears. This Dover book is full of plans and images and great fun to go back and imagine what was possible back when housing prices were made attainable by compact designs before "pre-fab" was a thing.
