Rate this book
Drew Westfall wants nothing more than to forget what he had to do in the name of "smart" business. Cutting off all ties with his parents—including handing over the entire contents of his trust fund to a charity—he takes off for Bridger, Colorado where his best friend has an extra room for him. It doesn't take long for him to realize that his business degree won’t do him much good in a town as small as Bridger, but he's broke and has nowhere else to go. Eden Torresi has every reason to wallow. Not only did she have to sell her house to pay for her mother’s medical expenses, but she had to drop out of school and is in a relationship with a guy unwilling to commit. But Eden isn't the wallowing type. Instead, she spends most of her time taking care of the seniors at Silver Linings Assisted Living. When she learns that her boyfriend's new roommate is down on his luck, she reaches out to offer what help she can. But the more time they spend together, the more complicated things get, especially when the seniors of Silver Linings decide to play matchmaker.

Each book in this series has a character or two who show up from a previous book. I kept looking for someone from Home Matters, aside from Drew, but didn't find them until towards the end, but it was perfect how they fit into the story.

Eden is such a nurturing, selfless person and most of her decisions are based on how it will affect those around her. She works at Silver Linings, a retirement home, and cares for a very sick mother. She's in a convenient relationship and although she wants more, she doesn't want to make waves to get it...until Drew slides into her life.

Drew is fantastic as well. He comments that he's from riches to rags, willing to give up all of his money in order to help those around him. He cares more for people than money. He's got a lot of self-control and restraint. He's definitely a man of his word.

As much as I loved Eden, Drew, and even Jace, I loved the people at Silver Linings, and especially loved the bathroom scene. The scheming and planning was hilarious and perfect for the story.

I really wanted to like this one, but I had some issues with the plot that made it hard for me to connect with the love story. Drew is introduced in the last book Home Matters when his character decides to give up all his wealth and start out on his own. His story picks up in this one when he arrives in Bridger, CO to stay with his best friend Jace. On his way there is gets in an accident and meets Eden (Jace's girlfriend) and they have...chemistry.

Okay, so for the majority of the book Eden and Jace are still together (although their relationship is a bit...sketchy) so while I wanted to root for Drew and Eden, I just couldn't get Jace out of my head. Even knowing his story and what will happen in Righting a Wrong, I still just felt bad for him. And while Drew and Eden didn't technically do any cheating (nothing more than holding hands), it still felt wrong. I think I would have loved the story if Jace and Eden had already broken up before the book starts.

Take out that aspect and it was a cute story. I liked both Drew and Eden and I enjoyed their story (I just had to pretend Jace wasn't in the picture). Probably wouldn't bother others as much as it bugged me. Drew and Eden have better chemistry and the author tries to show that her relationship with Jace wasn't really working, but it just didn't work for me. Maybe I just like Jace too much.

Overall, a good addition to the series.

I was lucky enough to read an earlier draft of this book--even before I'd finished writing Righting a Wrong. The story sucked me in from the get-go, and I couldn't put it down until I'd finished. The characters, the fun plot, the message--it was all so beautifully written. I laughed, I cried, and I sighed. But mostly, I smiled. I loved this book, and I couldn't have asked for a better prequel to Jace's story. Thank you, Kaylee!!!

I absolutely loved this book!! We briefly met Drew in Home Matters and we learn his story in Silver Linings. When he first arrives in Bridger, Colorado, he has a string of bad luck so when he first meets Eden at the Silver Linings Assisted Living facility, he appears to be homeless. Drew has given away his trust fund and is here to spend some time with his friend, Jace, who happens to be Eden's boyfriend.

There was a lot of humor in this book, which I enjoyed. Drew and Eden had some funny encounters. Then, when the residents of Silver Linings decided they were right for each other, it got even funnier. They kept trapping them places where they would be in close contact and hinting that they were meant to be together. Eden was torn. She loved Jace but they didn't have a lot of passion and would go weeks without really seeing each other and seemed to be fine with that, so how much of a relationship did they really have?

There's an element of this story that was near and dear to me and brought tears to my eyes a few times. Eden's mother, Mary Toressi, is dying and doesn't have much time left. I had a similar situation with my own mother just over seven years ago. I understood Eden's desire to spend as much time as she could with her mother before that was no longer an option. I also fell in love with Drew more because he was willing to take care of Mary and spend time with her. I enjoyed his relationship with her. This brought back a lot of memories for me. There are valuable lessons to learn by spending time with someone at the end of their life. I will always be grateful for the time I got to spend with my mother at the end of her life and wish everyone had that opportunity.

I love this story and I love Drew and Eden! While it was a little sad for Eden and Jace to break up, Mrs. Toressi gave a hint that there's someone else that Jace is in love with. I'm looking forward to Righting a Wrong, where we will get Jace's story!

What can I say about this story except that I loved every-single-minute of it. Both main characters were kind and caring, and I just wanted them to be together. The secondary characters were equally as endearing. I mean, who doesn't love meddling old people? So much fun. This novella made me laugh and cry, and feel just about every emotion in between. Really great read =D

Drew who we meet briefly in Home Matters gets his story in Silver Lining! We meet him under much different circumstances than we did two weeks ago in Savannah. Drew has cut ties with his wealthy, greedy, controlling and cold family from Denver. Drew is on his own on his way to Jace’s house when he hits black ice and crashes his new to him car. He finds himself walking to the first place that looks like someone is home and that is Silver linings. Eden works at silver linings and has made many friends with all the elderly people. They are worried for Eden and her lack of social life and that Eden’s boyfriend (Jace)has no time for her. Oh and is not doing a proper job of romancing her. Eden walks out to reception to see Drew in a heap on the floor with blood on his face. She offers assistance and all he really wants is a phone but Eden is insistent that he warm up before she helps him find Jace. Eden is a giver and takes excellent care of those she cares about.

Eden gets accepted to the University of Colorado and needs to decide if she is going to go or not. She wants to but is not sure how it will work with her mom and working as well Eden tries to put passion into her relationship with Jace but it is not happening. Drew and Eden fall into a routine of helping each other. Jace is always busy. With Drew helping with Eden’s mom and working at Silver Linings they end up seeing a lot of each other. The residence of Silver Lining have ideas of how to get Drew and Eden together. But will it work? Or will Eden stay will Jace out of connivance? One of my favorite scenes is the bathroom. I was cracking up and yet it was sweet as well.

Eden has all these choices to make? And I think she has given so much that she needs to find herself. I am happy to say Eden has made some good choices one of which is going to college. And I think she has discovered more about who she is and what she wants. I liked seeing Drew make choices and find himself. He learned a lot from leaving his family and giving all he had to charity. Drew thought of himself as selfish but he is not. He care a great deal about Eden and the people of Silver linings. He does some more giving when he contacts Olivia and Pete from Home Matters show up with more surprises! So, will Eden and Drew finally work things out? You must read it to find out! I truly found this heartwarming story irresistible. I could not ask for a more perfect ending to this story. I highly recommend this book!

Just FYI- This has NO swearing or sexual situations.

WHAT IT'S ABOUT

It doesn't take long for him to realize that his business degree won’t do him much good in a town as small as Bridger, but he's broke and has nowhere else to go.

Eden Torresi has every reason to wallow. Not only did she lose her mother, but she had to drop out of nursing school and is in a relationship with a guy unwilling to commit. But Eden isn't the wallowing type. Instead, she chooses to spend most of her time taking care of the seniors at Silver Linings Nursing home. MY TAKE
I'm in love with this series! I'm surrounded in real life with amazing people who inspire me to be better. I like to see characters who have good hearts and struggle with life and inspire me to be better, to evaluate my own behavior as I see them struggle.

While HOME MATTERS dealt with some serious issues, it was a light-hearted tale at its core. SILVER LININGS is more serious because Eden's mother is dying of cancer. I loved her mother's attitude and desire to help Eden prepare for their parting. My own mother died when I was 14, but I think we would have been friends as adults, like Eden and her mother. I liked Drew right away in HOME MATTERS. If you've read the first book, you know going in what he's dealing with--well, running away from. He has what I like in the love interests: nobility. And I don't mean a royal pain. ;)

The secondary characters in this story are so touching and fun. Now that I'm getting older myself (not quite old enough to need my own Silver Linings facility), but I can understand the motivation of the old people who want to "help" these younger people in their struggles. In spite of its more somber tone, there were several laugh-out-loud moments.

And we know that the character Jace will get his happily ever after in the next book. I've already started reading RIGHT A WRONG.

This one is about Drew Westfall, a minor character briefly introduced in the first novella in the series, Home Matters. Drew is traveling to Colorado after he's given up his family fortune. He's looking for a new direction in life and at first, is like a fish out of water. When we meet him in this book, his luck goes from bad to worse when he crashes his car in a snowstorrm, is only wearing an expensive leather coat with dress shoes on while he wades through inches of snow trying to find shelter. To top it off, some teenagers throw soda on him instead of helping him. You can't help but feel sorry for this guy. But that isn't even the worst of it. He finds shelter at an assisted living center and while trying to find someone to help him get to his friend's house, he trips over a walker/wheelchair and whacks his head. Yeah, talk about a bad day.

But the best thing about Drew's character is the way he gets up each time he's knocked down. He's trying to overcome his past and really do something worthwhile with his life. He's got a determination to him that I really liked and an easy manner. He wasn't overbearing and when he meets our heroine, well, things get complicated fast in a good way.

Our heroine, Eden, is so sweet and trying so hard to care for everyone around her. She's in a tight spot with having to put aside her dreams to take care of her sick mother, and yet there's a fire inside of her that wants to reach for it. She has a boyfriend, but when she meets Drew, well, let's just say I was turning pages as fast as possible to see how it would all turn out! I love a really good romance.

The story has a sweet cast of characters in the assisted living center and a really great message underneath the romance. I like the author's writing style and thought the novella had it all---great characters and a solid story. So excited for the third one!

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

Silver Linings is the second novella in the Ripple Effect romance series, and it's every bit as enjoyable as Home Matters. Remember poor, disillusioned Drew from the cafe toward the end of Home Matters? Well, he has a staring role in Silver Linings. It's Drew minus the family wealth, prestige, and trust fund. Some people have to go to great lengths to find happiness, and fortunately for Drew, it's waiting for him in tiny Bridger, CO.

Eden is far and away one of the sweetest characters I've read about. She's given up so much for others, and always puts them ahead of herself. I fell in love with her, desperately wanting her to find happiness. She is one of those people you admire while wondering if you'd step up to the plate like she has. Drew is the same way. I admired the drive he had to find something important and worthwhile in his life. He was raised in the lap of luxury, yet was out in the early winter morning scraping the ice from Eden's doorstep so she wouldn't fall.

Eden's boyfriend, Jace, is another fantastic character. You know it won't work out with them, or there wouldn't be a romance between Drew and Eden. Yet, I really liked him so much. I'm quite excited that the next book tells Jace's story. Hands down, the best parts of this novel revolve around the characters and their interactions. The crew at Silver Linings was always fun even though their appearances were brief. If you like your romance sweet and your endings happy enough to make you cry, then you'll really like Silver Linings.

Silver Linings is the second in this clean romance novella series. Drew showed up briefly at the end of Home Matters. Disillusioned by his parents wealth and power, he has donated his entire trust fund which numbers in the millions to Olivia and Pete's charity. He has left everything behind and traveled to crash with his friend Jace. An accident causes him to stumble into a nursing home where he meets Eden and a whole cast of fun characters who live at Silver Linings. I really felt like the meddling matchmakers at the nursing home were the highlight of the story.

I thought this one was such a sweet romance. I liked it because it was fun to watch Eden and Drew fall in love. Even though they both know it is wrong. The problem is that Eden has a boyfriend. Normally, I wouldn't be into a story where one person in the pair already has a boy/girlfriend but honestly, Jace and Eden really had no relationship. Other than an emotional connection, I was happy to see that Drew and Eden did not cross a line that shouldn't be crossed.

This story has a lot packed into it. I think I ran the gamut of emotions while reading it. Both Eden and Drew are searching for peace and home. I loved the bond that Eden had with her mother. I also really felt for Eden in her struggle to take care of her dying mother. It was sad, yet very touching. The sacrifices that Drew makes because of his love for Eden were amazing. I highly recommend this one! I can't wait to read Jace's story in Righting a Wrong!

I sure am loving these books in the Ripple Effect series. Clean romance is one of my all time, favorite genres and this series is perfect for me. I love all these authors and these books leave me feeling happy.

Silver Linings was so sweet. The main character, Eden, has so, so much on her plate. Emotionally especially. Her mother is struggling with (and dying from) lung cancer. This especially hit close to home as my mother in law recently passed away with the same struggle. I could easily identify with Eden and the tremendous load she carried as she cared for her mother on top of working to make sure they had enough money to survive.

I especially loved the sense of community that is unfolded, bit by bit. The people who surround Eden love her and want to help. Drew becomes a large part of that as well. I just loved him. His heart is full of goodness and generosity. Drew had a brief cameo in the first book in this series, Home Matters. We didn’t really know anything about him and his random decision to donate all his inheritance so I’m glad we got a closer, more personal look into Drew and his motives.

This was just a sweet, feel good book. I loved reading it and I’m so happy to be a part of this continued blog tour. New books in this series come out every few weeks and in the end will make an awesome collection to be read and re-read.

Loved this book! It seems like I have read so many books lately that are supposed to be clean, but really they aren't -- so this series has been a breath of fresh air for me!

I love, love Drew and Eden! Drew has quit his high-paying job (working for his dad) and has given his trust fund (millions of dollars) away to figure out who he really is! He needs to know that people are more important than money -- and he couldn't find anyone better to show him that than Eden!

When he first meets Eden, he is lost and has just crashed his car and is convinced that Bridger, Colorado hates him. He finds a sign for Silver Linings and ends up inside the retirement home where Eden works.

Eden is dating Jace, Drew's best friend, but their relationship is passionless (or so the old ladies at the retirement center tell her) and not really going anywhere. The old folks at Silver Linings fall in love with Drew (they already love Eden like their own) and decide to "help" them get together... funny times!

Eden has no money because all her money goes to taking care of her mother who is dying of cancer. Yet she lives a rich life surrounded by so many people who love her. I cracked up over her duct-taped car -- I drove a Ford Pinto in high school, and if I remember correctly the engine was being held together with duct tape -- that car had loads of personality!

This was one of the MOST TENDER, SWEETEST, BEST contemporary romance books I have ever read.

Eden is giving literally everything she has to her mother and the seniors at Silver Linings Assisted Living.

Drew just ran away from is old life after giving is entire trust fund to charity. He is headed to his best friend's house until he can get back on his feet.

As luck would have it...Drew's car broke down just before he could get all the way to the friends house and he found himself being rescued at Silver Linings.

Having no where else to go and needing a job Drew is hired on at Silver Linings.

And that is where he and Eden start their friendship...

As things get more serious both Eden and Drew they realize that it just won't work because Eden is already in a relationship with Drew's best friend--now roommate.

So instead of having a messy love triangle...

Drew leaves...

But he has already made his way into Eden's, and the resident's hearts, and they are not ready to let him go.

So many tender moments in this book!
Some fun matching moments in this book!

A GREAT READ!

This is the second book in the Ripple Effect Romance series. This book can be read as a stand alone, but for me it was fun to see a character from the fist book have his own happy ending.

Drew is disillusioned. He comes from a family of wealth and privilege. He faces a situation of letting an employee go who desperately needed his job. His heart tells him that it is wrong to put profit before people. Facing this emotional crisis, he decides to leave the family business and find a place and job that work for him.

Driving through a small town in Colorado in the winter, he has an accident and looks for help in the freezing weather. He stumbles upon a retirement home, Silver Linings. It is here that he finds himself and a Eden, a young woman who is also having an emotional battle.

I loved the characters in this book. Drew and Eden are just great people. You can't help but like them. The gem in the book was the residents of the retirement home. They are fabulous. They are loving and conniving. It was perfect!

This is a wonderful book/series to get lost into. I look forward to the rest of the series!

Here's me doing a happy dance for being the first one to receive a signed copy! Yayee!

Kaylee Baldwin is a fantastic writer! I enjoy all of her stories and will pretty much buy anything she's ever written. What's neat about this book is that it is part of a series. Kaylee did a great job of creating a great story and setting up the next story in The Ripple Effect Romance Novella Series (I can only imagine how difficult it would be to do that!).

Silver Linings is about Drew Westfall and Eden Torresi. Drew Westfall stumbles into Silver Linings one night after a series of unfortunate events. Eden discovers him and the romance takes off from there... except, well... there are a few complications!

Such a great story, I can't wait to read Jace's story next!

I love the characters in this book, the whole idea behind this series is that one person has a Ripple Effect when they are kind to others. Drew was a very minor character in Home Matters who did an act of kindness for someone else, and then he gets his own story. I loved the characters of Drew and Eden, they are so well written that I felt as though their problems were my own for a little while. This was such a cute love story, I loved every minute of reading it and was so sad when it ended, luckily there are still 4 more of these Ripple Effect Romances to read.

This was a great clean read. The character interaction was just what I wanted in a good book. Eden has sacrificed so much to take care of her sick mother. Drew is looking for a change of pace after watching his grandfather die. This book builds the relationship from the ground up.

The writing is well done, and the romance is just the right kind of sweet. If you love good clean romances, you should definitely read this book.

It comes out in less than a month! This book was a ton of fun to write. I played the Michael Buble station on Pandora the entire time and every time I hear: Save the Last Dance for Me, I'm going to think of writing this book.

Plus the residents who live in Silver Linings... by far the most fun I've ever had writing characters.

*4.5

I’m rounding this up cause it was so pure and heartwarming and it is nice to read books like that once in a while. Honestly this reminded me of the movie The Ultimate Gift (I think that’s what it is called). While they are very different the overall message they deliver is the same.

This book is about Drew who was born in a wealthy family but leaves the business after his decision to fire someone leads to them suffering. And it is also about Eden a girl who works at a retirement home who has a terminally ill mother and isn’t sure where she wants to go in life.

Besides just how pure this story was the thing I loved the most is that there wasn’t a stupid fight that always seems to occur in romance centered things. I thought for sure he was going to keep his past a secret and then Eden would find out and be like “He betrayed me!” Or some other crap. BUT NOT IN THIS BOOK HALLELUJAH! The challenges they face are legitimate and real and I felt like they furthered the relationship and the growth of the characters.

I can’t wait to read the other books in the series because we see a cameo from the characters in the first book and I want to see them get together! And Jace apparently finds love in the next book so you’d better think I’m going to be here for that!

Small note on Jace though cause every time I read his name all I could think about was Jace Wayland from The Mortal Instruments—one of my favorite literary heroes of all time.

A sweet and simple romance. Honestly more like a 3.5 for me.

Nice characters -- including the side characters, who were just a hoot! The romance seemed to happen pretty fast (probably because this is a novella) but it was a nice romance.

I guess I'm more of a novel person than a novella person, LOL.

There's something so satisfying about a second-chance romance that actually earns the reunion, and Silver Linings does exactly that. Kaylee Baldwin writes with so much heart — the emotional depth here really got me. I was rooting for these two from the very first chapter. A beautiful, feel-good read!

This is the second story in the Ripple Effect Romance Novella Series, and I have to admit that I am very much enjoying with this series so far. They are each written by different authors who bring their own style, grace, and talent to this beautiful collection of sweet romances. What I love the most about this series is that after the first book Home Matters by Julie N. Ford, I saw glimpses of a few of the characters from the first book. The interweaving of these character’s lives is subtle but very profound. This is such a wonderful way to illustrate how, like the title of this series; our actions have ripple effects not only in our life, but in the lives of everyone around us. Keeping that in mind may just be enough to have us second guessing and rethinking how we see and treat each other.

Drew Westfall has seen firsthand how easily numbers can become more important than the people who make up a business. His experience with that was ugly and left him scarred and disheartened. He doesn’t think he can ever look at himself the same way again, so he leaves behind the only world he ever knew and heads to Colorado to see his old college roommate. Eden Torresi has never known a carefree life not burdened with taking care of family. She has had to grow up faster than other girls her age, and as a result has never felt free enough to really enjoy her life. Her big heart and sense of responsibility won’t allow her to pursue her dreams no matter how much she longs to. She pushes it all aside to do what needs to be done. Her stubborn sense of duty combined with Drew’s terribly luck brings about the sweetest and most heart wrenching relationship that I have ever seen. Will Eden ever see her deepest dreams come true, and will Drew be able to see beyond his painful past and see himself as others do?

Drew is very much a lost soul trying to regain his purpose and direction after his world is unexpectedly turned upside down. He sees himself as a part of the heartless machine that perpetrated a cruel injustice on an innocent man and his family. As a result, he sees himself as undeserving of anything good. No matter how much those around him can see the positive changes that are taking place within him, he refuses to acknowledge that he is good and deserves good things in his own life. He doesn’t see himself as worthy of love and trust, but his new friends refuse to take no for an answer. They take matters into their own hands and give fate a gently nudge in the right direction.

Just like Drew, Eden doesn’t believe that she deserves to be able to follow her heart. She fears that she would be a terrible daughter in shirking her responsibilities if she were to give into her desires and chase after her dreams. No matter how much encouragement and coaxing her mother tries to offer, she is unable to convince Eden to live the life she has always wanted. The only person who can break through her defenses is Drew. She finds that his quiet determination and selfless giving is starting to weaken her resolve and little by little she beings to accept help and love from others. In an attempt to get Eden to finally start living her life, Drew makes the ultimate sacrifice in removing all obstacles and excuses and gives Eden one big push in the right direction.

This was a wonderful, heart-wrenching journey of two people who because of the heartache and pain they had to go through deserve to have every good thing in their life. They gave all of themselves to others in an attempt to do what they felt was right even at the expense of their own happiness.
No one should have to sacrifice their own happiness in order to do what they feel is right. We often fail to see the good in ourselves when those around us can see it so easily. We focus on our shortcomings when we should be focusing on helping those around us. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others because there is no one else who is like us. We are each unique in our own way with our own strengths and weaknesses. We are made to compliment and help each other. If we would spend our time reaching out and lending a hand to those in need, we would see less and less of ourselves and instead focus on how we can make our world just a little better.

I absolutely enjoyed every moment of reading this book! I am going to admit something to you though. When I first started to read Silver Linings I didn’t realize this book was about Drew, who was in the first book, Home Matters. He was the that Pete met in a restaurant, and wanted to give his money to a charity. I guess that is why the books ‘should’ be read in order 1-6!

I feel that the author did a wonderful job of giving background information on the 2 main characters, Eden and Drew. Many books today jump right into the story and ‘forget’ to make us care for the characters.

Eden is a loving, giving young woman who doesn’t know what she is going to do after her mother passes away. Her grandmother died and then she found out her mother has lung cancer. If that wasn’t enough she then had to sale her family home to pay for her mothers mounting hospital bills.

Eden is loved by all those around her, especially all the senior citizens in the assisted living community she works at, Silver Linings. She has a tendency to take care of everyone around her, except herself. I really liked Eden, she was selfless and didn’t expect anything in return for anything she did for others.

Drew is a millionaire, turned penniless (by his own choosing) and homeless. How many people do you know that would give away their trust funds, and walk away from their lives? Not many. I am not sure I would’ve done that. He tends to think that people are more important that money, which is the opposite of what his father thinks.

When Drew arrives in Bridger, Colorodo he gets lost trying to find his friend Jace’s house, then his car breaks down. It is dark, snowing and freezing outside. He has no choice but to get out of his car and walk to try to find help. The first place he come upon is Silver Linings. There he meets Eden, and she gives his warm food, blankets and kindness. She then drives him to his destination, his friend Jace’s house. Where Drew finds out that Jace is Eden’s boyfriend.

There was an instant attraction between Eden and Drew. Notice I didn’t say ‘love at first sight’, which I don’t believe in anyway. That is one reason I liked this book so much. It seemed believable and real. To many romance novels have the hero and heroine falling in love instantly, and that is not realistic. Neither Drew nor Eden acted on their attraction because they cared to much for Jace to betray him that way.

I liked how the friendship between Eden and Drew developed over time, and didn’t seem rushed. The author didn’t portray Jace to be the bad guy in the story. She did quit the opposite, which was refreshing. Some of my favorite secondary characters in the book were Maude and Wanda, residents at Silver Linings. They were funny, thoughtful, a little scheming and wanted only happiness for Eden.

I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys clean romances, and very good ones at that. If you haven’t read the first book ‘Trading Spaces’, I recommend that you start with that one first. You will enjoy the books more if you read them in order. I am looking forward to reading the other novellas in this series by different authors, as well as I am Mrs Baldwin’s other books as well.

"She glanced up at him, and Drew's breath caught in his throat. The sunlight kissed her pale hair, skin and eyes, reminding Drew once again of an angel. She was so beautiful. So kind. And so taken."

Eden Toressi is such a wonderful character. Every now and then you come across a heroine in a book that can only be described as perfect. Eden spent her time giving of herself. She was taking care of her dying mom and she went out of her way to help the elderly patients at Silver Lining Assisted Living home where she worked. She had dreams of being a nurse but gave them up when her mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. She was selfless and kind and all she wanted was for her boyfriend, Jace, to propose to her--until Drew Westfall came into her life.

Drew Westfall was in book one, Home Matters. We meet him towards the end of the book and, boy, does he have a story to share. Drew's dad owns a huge hotel chain and when Drew fires an employee to make cuts he is devastated by the story behind the man he fired. Drew leaves everything behind, family, money and prestige among other things because money has become more important to him than people--until he meets Eden Toressi. Drew realized he had never help a single person in his life and when he volunteered to watch Eden's sick mom while she worked I was completely sold on him. It was so great to watch Drew go from self-absorbed to self-sufficient. A man that had always had people waiting on him was suddenly waiting on everyone else... and he loved it.

Silver Linings is a very enjoyable book. I love revisiting a couple of characters from book one, Olivia Pembroke and Pete, and I was thrilled to see Drew get his own story. I wasn't disappointed either. The storyline was so engaging. I was hooked from the first page. It had both intense and lighthearted moments, tears one moment and laughter the next. It really brought out what it means to be a caregiver and, being a caregiver myself, I loved that it was a very big part of the story. I think anyone that has the responsibility of being a caregiver will love this book. It brought out my emotions more than once. I also loved the patients at Silver Linings. They were a real hoot! Especially Wanda and Maud who continuously bickered at each other but always had a scheme cooking up too. It is a sweet and tender contemporary romance that will leave you waiting anxiously for book three. I can't wait for Jace's story now and the rest following. If you like small town contemporary romances I highly recommend this book and the complete series.
