Kai

How long do you have to be apart from someone before you can say you don’t know them anymore?

How long does someone have to be out of your life before your every waking thought doesn’t revolve around them?

Olivia Harding bulldozed her way into my life at twelve years old. She broke my heart at nineteen and I haven’t seen her once in the thirteen years since.

She chose her career over me. And now, because life is a cruel and coldhearted bitch, I’m praying that she gives me a chance to help her save it.

The smart thing to do would be to keep my distance, to keep it strictly professional.

But I’ve never been smart when it comes to her.

Olivia

Soccer is all I ever wanted in life.

And then I met Kai Morris.

He turned my life upside down in the best way possible. He was there when those that I needed weren’t and how did I repay him? I broke his heart.

He should hate me after what I did and he definitely shouldn’t be willing to help me get my career back on track.

Now, for the next year I’ll have to feel his touch, smell his intoxicating scent, and look into his devastatingly beautiful eyes. He makes me want things I haven’t thought about in so long.

But I can’t have him.

There’s too much at risk. Too much truth I’ve tried to protect him from all these years.

When the truth comes out, will he be able to forgive me? Because I don’t think I’m strong enough to walk away from him a second time.

4/5 ⭐️

- Natasha Bishop is officially an auto buy author for me because there’s just something so beautiful about her love stories!! If you’re looking. I loveeeed how Kai was literally the most loveable cinnamon roll lover, but also was still giving alpha male vibes. Friends to lovers is my favorite trope ever and it was done so well in this book.
- This book just knows how to do found family! I love how so many of the characters surrounded Olivia with love. I connected so much with all of the characters and I’ll definitely be reading the rest of the series asap!!
- The tension between Olivia and her dad kept the story moving at a good pace! I was so nervous to see how it ended. Natasha Bishop always does such a great job of adding additional sublots to keep the story moving which I love!

Sighhh!!!

Me saying this was good is an understatement. It's putting it lightly. I've said this before, but I'll say it again. Ms. Bishop is a freaking beast. She's like Queen Midas with this series. Every one of these books are pure gold. There was a lot to unpack in this story and the author left nothing unsaid. Everything came to a full circle and you're not left wondering about anything.
Kai freaking Morris. I don't know how to explain this man to you, except that he's perfect. I'm not exaggerating. He's absolutely perfect. In every sense of the way. Physically, mentally, emotionally and socially he's perfect. Olivia was so effing lovable. She's so strong. Again, in every sense of the way. Emotionally, physically (cause she's a damn badass soccer player) and mentally. Cause if you know her back story. You'd see what I mean.
Um, where can I find friends like Ciara, Nina, Sasha and them? Like whose brother do I have to marry to be welcomed into a group like that? Because these group chats are literally the life of the stories. (I kid, my girlfriends are amazing). But Ciara and the girls are amazing and loyal to a fault.
This story was so so good. The author did such an amazing job with the character development and the way these characters expressed love was enough make you melt…. And speaking of love…Olivia and Kai were nasty. Not in a filthy way, but they were nasty. Kai never missed an opportunity to taste her 👀. Doesn't matter if it's a quickie…he'll make time to taste her. Kai loved him some Olivia.
The author loves to give us a taste of the next installment at the end of each book. I'm going to need her to stop. Cause patience is one of the Fruit of the Spirit, I don't practice well. Cause I need Shane's story right now.
But, y'all, READ THIS. Seriously, get into this series. You won't be disappointed.
Thank you to Miss Bishop for this ARC!! Reading this was a great distraction from Hurricane Ian.

Holy forkin shirtballs!! This book! Natasha Bishop already had my admiration and respect as a friend, but she has a gift in writing too! This book was beyond the beyond! A top read of the year for me and so scorching hot!! Kai is my favorite! He is such a “Daddy” and I am not even joking. The dominance that exudes from his pores made me want to say “yes sir!” Holy hell, what a man! I ate all that praise kink, Liv’s submission and Kai’s nastiness (I mean that in the best possible way), up with a freaking silver spoon! There were some moments where I got lightheaded from the use of Kai’s skilled…appliances.

Kai had me at his 13 year old self when he said this to Olivia. “I would very much like to kiss you, but if I do that means you’d be mine so I need to know if you’d be into that.”

Thirteen years of heartache, longing and pain these two went through. This excerpt stopped me dead in my tracks:

“Don’t you f*cking walk away from me.” My voice is low with a sharp undertone, threatening to shatter the ground beneath our feet and plummet us into darkness. She freezes for a moment but then she spins around, ready to cuss me out, but I move around the bed and back her against the wall in mere seconds. “That’s your fu*king problem—you’re always walking away. That shit is over.” “Kai…” I gently grip her chin, silencing her words. “No. I don’t wanna look at your back again unless I’m bending you over something to drive my d*ck inside you, where it belongs.”

Yes, please and thank you. Utter and complete perfection, this book was!!

I think this was a bit boring ; I'll have to go back and reread it to understand the characters' connections. Kai truly loved Olivia in every way—emotionally, spiritually, and physically. To be honest, I didn't understand the hesitation on Olivia’s part to just be with Kai I understand trying to protect him but it seemed like they were merely having sex to make up for the time they had missed.

Kai and Olivia!! Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and this book did not disappoint!

Kai and Olivia have been best friends since Olivia and her dad moved in across the street from Kai's family. Olivia is a soccer player, with toxic pressure from her dad to take the sport seriously in school so that she can one day go pro. However, that doesn't stop Kai from wiggling his way into her life, and bringing her into his family for the love she misses at home. As these two grow up, they go from best friends to lovers, even going off to college together. However, something changes with Olivia during their freshman year. She drops out of school, breaks up with Kai and goes straight into the soccer league.

It's been over a decade, and when Olivia suffers a major injury during a game, her first call is to famous sports therapist and her ex-friend/lover, Kai. And this time, Kai is not letting her run away from him.

These two were just so meant to be! The progression of their friendship when they were younger was so sweet to watch, which made them transitioning to lovers seamless. It was rough watching Olivia beat herself up over what really happened all those years ago, and once the truth is revealed, it's obvious she just wanted to protect Kai from her vile, trifling daddy. These two deserved the second chance and closure they'd both wanted for years, and I was so happy that they found their way back to each other!

As usual, I loved seeing all the side characters from the past two books. They are a great friend group/found family. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

TROPES: black romance/OWN voices/BIPOC; friends to lovers; second chance; athlete heroine (soccer player); sports therapist hero; forced proximity (hero is heroine's sports therapist for a year); found family; great friend group

TRIGGER WARNINGS: forced abortion, discussed on page (author did included a trigger warning in the beginning)

5+ "🎶The Boy Is Mine🎶" Stars!!

Where do I even begin to explain how much I really loved this book. It gave me ALL the feels! This was friends to lovers, second chance romance, and found family at it's very very best. Not to mention super duper sexy!

Kai! Kai was all the things for me. Protective, loyal, steadfast, forgiving, sexy as Heck! Just swagtastic.

Olivia's description of Kai- "You know, I'm waiting for the day when I find out that you're not actually real. That you're a rom-com movie clone or a science experiment for the perfect man come to life." I have to agree 100%.

Kai at age 13- "I'd very much like to kiss you, but if I do, that means you'd be mine so I need to know you'd be into that."
Read: much swagger

Kai at age 32- 'If you'd just take your wall down one dam inch you'd realize that there isn't a war I wouldn't fight, dragon I wouldn't slay, or a mountain I wouldn't climb for you."
Swoon

And the best from Kai age 32- "I'm not a saint. I just want her more than I want to be mad at her."
Seriously. Swoon. (You have to read this to know the context.)

I could go on about Kai because he just made my heart go pitter patter. But I will say a little something about Olivia. I really liked Olivia a lot. Until I didn't... Girlie had some splainin to do. *side eye
But to her credit, she was very sweet, protective and loyal in her own way. And completely lost at times. My heart went out to her. In the end I loved her.

I don't want to spoil anything or ramble too much. Basically, I loved Kai and Olivia's story. It's my favorite of the series. You could start her if you wanted to, but there would be mild spoilers for books 1 and 2. Those couples were in this book. I loved their whole friend/found family group. This was a top read of 2022! Happy reading!

i lost interest around 65%, after that i started to skim until 75%. i feel like things, for me, just started dragging and got boring. I really like the characters so i'm hoping later on i decide to finish. i absolutely loved the first half of the book so it sucks that my interest changed during the second half.

Miss Bishop! Hold your hands out ma’am, as I thrust these flowers into your arms! You absolutely deserve them, as this read was amazing! ❤ I have been totally invested in this series right from the beginning, as the characters are so relatable and the storylines pull you in, within the first few sentences. I adored Lincoln in the first book and Isaiah had me swooning in book 2, but Kai honey……… THAT MAN IS PERFECTION! 😍 Even when Kai was a pre-teen, he was emotionally mature, confident, protective, loyal and would do anything for Olivia! The friendship and love that they share was beautiful and ironclad, until the devil stepped in! Miss Olivia! She was the sweetest thing, who just happened to be born to the worst parents in the universe! Meeting Kai was the ultimate blessing, as she needed someone to help her cope with the devil who was her father! Jason Harding! 🤬 Ughhh….. Is it wrong to hate a fictional character? Well, I don’t care, I do hate him! 😡That man was just mean, spiteful and hateful to his own child for no damn reason! Because he was lonely and miserable, he wanted to have Olivia join that club right alongside him! So, he bullied her, and his need for control was so intense, that he didn’t care how his actions affected his daughter!
Having a front row seat to the friendship and budding relationship of Kai and Olivia, was everything! The way Kai’s family supported Olivia, and Kai was there for her at every turn, I just knew that they would be happy forever. Then the ish hits the fan! Olivia left Kai reeling, and my heart broke right along with his! 💔 Why Olivia????? I continued to read impatiently trying to figure out what the hell happened, because this made no sense to me! When Olivia is in need of Kai’s help, and these two are reunited, I’m waiting for all hell to break loose. But Kai is too calm and collected for all that. He is biding his time, as Olivia will not get away again. As they spend time together, they both realize that their love never died, it is as alive as it ever was! Then the truth is revealed, as to why Olivia left, and I am stunned! Why, I don’t know because Jason is evil! But, damn to do your child like this? For what???? I loved how karma came for his ass though! He needs to rot for the hell he put people through! Whew……
Loved catching up with the couples and friends from the first two books. These people are ride or die friends for real! They are loyal to a fault, and it is a joy to see. Cannot wait for Shane’s story. Bravo ma’am! 👍👍👍

this book was a masterpiece from start to finish! childhood friends to lovers and second chance romance!! i’m not a huge second chance romance girly bc I hate the PAIN but this one was done SO WELL!!!!! the story is told in 2 parts. part one follows kai and olivia from the time they meet ~11/12 yo until college. we get to see the start of their friendship and how it develops into a relationship. seeing their past was so integral in showing us their true connection. they were each other’s person from the START and it’s so beautifully obvious. however, once they get to college something happens that tears them apart. when part 2 begins, we see what has happened in the years following college to present day which is a WHOPPING 13 YEARS LATER 😭 when olivia suffers an injury from soccer, she’s forced to take a break for PT/rehab. and she finally reaches out to kai, a well known physical therapist. and you guys!!!!!!!! this is where the story really gets rolling. kai wants to remain professional (at first 😉) but he has a long game plan in mind!! she got away from him once and he won’t ever let that happen again!

seeing kai and olivia find their way back to each other was so fucking beautiful!!!!!!!! they never stopped loving each other and it’s so obvious 😭 but there were many secrets they kept from one another throughout the years and they had to work together to finally open themselves up and break down all those walls. like I said this second chance romance was done SO WELL! there was that bit of pain you get from second chance romance but there was a lightness, playfulness, banter, the angst, tension and good vibes too! kai and olivia were truly made for one another and seeing them happy again brought me so many tears of joy. olivia struggled throughout her life bc her mom left her when she was young and her dad was controlling and a manipulative. and he continued to try and control her despite the fact she’s a grown woman in her 30s. seeing her take her power back was so beautiful. and kai, our sweet, cinnamon roll, supportive kai!!! from the start this man only ever wanted to support olivia and the same goes in adulthood. through all her struggles he was there to cheer her on and have her back. and the found family she gained through kai made my heart so warm!!!!!!! she really found her people 🫂

and a moment for the spice you guys. holy fckn shit!!!!!!! SO HOT! I was actually dying over this spice. I think part of the reason why it was so hot is bc 1) the connection the 2 already had and 2) the trust they have in one another!! *cries in single and alone!!!*

this was genuinely such an amazing book and I one million percent recommend it!!!!!!!! the story flowed so well. I was never bored and I only ever wanted to keep reading!!!!!

be sure to read TW before reading!!

Idk I found Kai too pushy and kind of one note, and I just wasn’t into his vibe. I also didn’t really feel like Olivia had much of a personality, either, unlike the other FMCs in Natasha Bishop’s books. And despite all the flashback scenes to Olivia and Kai’s relationship, I felt like I was being told they had this deep love vs. them actually having it (which was an issue I had in the previous book in this series, too). I usually enjoy second chance romances, but this just didn’t work for me as much as I wanted it to 😭 I’m all for spice, but it got to the point where there was sooooo much spice that the plot just kind of stopped existing.

Justice for Kai

I enjoyed this as I do all of Natasha Bishops books but I couldn’t help but feel like Kai was done wrong. Kai was so perfect in this book almost too perfect. Granted he and Olivia both were pawns in her sick father’s game but Kai never got to express his emotions, stew in his anger, or just be hurt because he was constantly worried about Olivia’s feelings. I would have loved if he truly got to express his hurt at her leaving him and not having faith in their relationship.

Very Deep

Wow! The story was intense. A toxic father wanted to control his daughter's life because his wife left him. Please, help me make sense of that situation. His wife left probably because he was too controlling. And for many years, he got his wish with his only child. Olivia left the love of her life because of fear. Later, you will discover the depths of depravity her father would go to keep his daughter away from Kai. Kai was a determined student and an all-around good guy, so I never understood Olivia's father's neurotic thinking about the young couple. A career injury would bring them back together, and I had high hopes the second chance would be the charm.
Here are my smaller issues:
1. Olivia seemed to be a follower, not a leader, especially for her role.
2. Some of the facts about Dante were vague as they related to Olivia and his relationship
3. A few times, the story floated around.
Overall, I gave this one 4.5 stars.

Really good read. This book in the series had more drama and a lot more going on but I don’t know I would say if Kai and Olivia’s story is my favorite so far. 🤔. But definitely good story.

This was my favorite story in the series. Now don't get me wrong, I think Lincoln wins hands down for his BDE because there was just something about him. But Kai was more the strong, silent type and we all know it's the quiet ones you have to watch. So true, so true. This story took me through so many emotions, that I'm almost tired. I just felt sorry for Dante though, I know he was good but it just made me want to drop-kick Jason a couple of times on his behalf. Talking about all he gave up, sorry sir, something tells me you have nothing because everything left you. I knew that Kai and Olivia would get their HEA because he was too determined for them not to; when you know, you know.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

All the hype about Kai is true. And his names was ringing loud in these IG streets.

And not one lie was told. He is that dude.

This was so much more than I expected and while nothing was surprising. It was still a solid story and I adored Kai. And my heart broke for Olivia, her dad was straight trash.

This gang of friends is the best. I would watch a tv show about them. The banter in those group chats had me laughing out loud. I loved any scene with them.

But oh how I love Kai!! That is the review😂

DNFing at 81%. Kylie is the only real one in this book.

Also I have read 2 sports romances and both have a plot line where some poor innocent man is accused of rape. Do sports romance authors know how fucking rare that is? Stop perpetuating that it is normal.

✨Book Review✨

3.5

Kai has loved Olivia since he was 12 years old. And she loved him back. They were inseparable, but at 19 years old, Olivia broke Kai’s heart, and for the past 13 years, he hadn’t heard one word from her until an injury caused her to show back up in his life.

Olivia has always wanted to be a soccer player; she wanted nothing more. Well, that was until she met Kai, then her world became about soccer and Kai. Being presented with a request that would destroy Kai if she doesn’t leave him, she breaks his heart and focuses on her soccer career. And injury causes their worlds to clash again. Will she be able to resist him a second time around?!

Olivia GOT ON MY LAST ONE!! And low-key Kai did as well 😂. Kai is a great man, don’t get me wrong, but I almost felt like he was a bot because he was too perfect. Like, sir, you can’t be this forgiving for fast? I mean, was he ever even mad at Olivia? This girl broke your heart and aborted your child, and you didn’t even flip a chair?! He’s a saint 😂

If I were Olivia, I would have told my daddy to kick rocks. I definitely wouldn’t let him control my life like he ran hers.

This one didn’t hold my attention like the others—it's still a good read.

One, I appreciate the buildup of this story. Two, I am very pleased that their sexual interactions were not excessively portrayed for minors.Three, I really enjoyed Kai and Olivia’s relationship until Olivia pissed me off. Kai is her safe haven, and he truly supports her, so her decision to have an abortion without informing him, while he continues to prioritize her, was unsettling to me. Yes, it is her body and her choice, but he has been there for her every step of the way in every decision made—so why the sudden change?

I understand Olivia's upbringing, marked by a controlling father and the absence of mother due to not being able to follow her dreams but Kai and his household gave you a family and full blown support. You abandoned him, his family, and had him excited about a future that you suddenly deemed impossible. Kai spent years consumed in trying to figure out what went wrong, yet his love for her never wavered.

Olivia's father's plan was bullshit. You could’ve set the record straight if your dad tried to black ball him on top of that, Kai has a strong support system that would not have allowed him, or you, to fail. So, boo hoo Olivia. Being coerced into having an abortion is cruel. Your dad was trash from an early age; I just wish you had stood up to him and put hin his place and left so you could manage everything on your own. You never needed him, but, of course through it all, there is reconciliation and a happy ending.

Soul deep love...

I am so glad that I downloaded Ms. Bishop's "Only For The Week" novel because I have been hooked ever since. This is the fourth book I have read by Ms. Bishop. And let me tell you the love Kai had for Olivia was soul deep. The love that grew in his heart at twelve years old kept deepening throughout his life. It was no doubt that he had unconditional love for Olivia. He was determined to make Olivia his because in his heart she was always his other half. Jason, Olivia's father was a psychopath. It always amazes me when a parent feels their kids owe them something. Olivia's father was that parent. Her mother was just as sorry to leave her daughter behind with her psychotic father. However, Kai followed Olivia throughout her sports career. He was there to help her get her life back on track not only with soccer but personally as well. He helped her fight a massive giant in her life and regain her power. Kai's family was Olivia's family because Auntie stayed in contact with her when no one else was allowed to. Olivia needed familial love in her life and between Auntie, Kylie, Po Po, and Kai's parents she got it all. This is a magnificent read and I'm anticipating Ms. Bishop's next release. The whole gang was in this book as well. I advise you to get into this series you will like it.
