Theo:
I’ve never been treated as an equal.
My mother’s dead. My father doesn’t care.

Ever since I was young, I’ve been contained within the walls of my home; trapped and alone.

Although being confined and held captive isn’t entirely new to me, nothing could’ve prepared me.
Being King Rhivers’ prisoner is unlike anything I’ve experienced before.

He likes to think he owns me, likes to think of himself as the King.
And sure, I may be in his cuffs now, but I’m Theodora Harlow.
And it’s my turn to reign.

King:
I’ve never been in charge of my own life.

Until my father died, he was the one in control, but now, with my father finally out of the picture,
I control everything.

It’s time for me to run the Three Districts.

It’s everything I ever wanted.

Including my new little prisoner, rotting away in the District prison, with my handprint still bruised around her neck.

I wasn’t expecting to have her in my clutches again, but now I do, I’m not sure I can let go.
It’s time for me to show her who the King really is.

Ellie Kent’s debut novel is fantastic.

Given this is the first in what I hope is a long line of books from this author, it has been written so well and was so descriptive. The pace of the storyline was perfectly engaging and the twists and turns that happened at the end were definitely unexpected. Sometimes even from the start of a book you know full well how it will end, this was definitely not the case.

Theo and Kings relationship is turbulent to say the least, but watching them both grow together was beautiful. And their chemistry…. Wowie. All I’m saying is that I might need to invest in some handcuffs and a fedora hat 👀

I also adored that the side characters were super involved in the storyline. Dax and Rori’s book needs to be released ASAP.

I don’t want to say much more because you all need to dive in for yourselves, just hit me up to discuss once you have 🤩

5/5 read from me!!

Interesting to say the least.

The storyline was unique, the characters were even interesting. It was just rushed. There wasn’t enough time to actually get to know the characters, it all moved so quick.

You just needed a second or two more to actually meet the characters you’re reading about.

For some reason It gave me Romeo and Juliette vibes. In a way of they were immature kids, making rash decisions. Like there’s no way these characters would have actually survived this world with the way they acted.

But I liked the story line. The prison was cool and could have actually been a great story if it had been explored in a different way.

It had great twists and turns. It just needed more time to play out. I just needed a bit more.

Though I did like the way King loved his Hand Necklaces 😉

Also the dialogue was sometimes just fake.

DNF at ch 12

When I saw that the FMC has more chemistry with a side character than with the MMC, I knew the book is not gonna work for me. Why couldn't Theo be with Puck? King is literally a useless male child, pissing me off. Throw him away.

❓❓❓H asked h to strip in front of all prisoners, and in front of Heroes of the second book and third book.

❓❓❓Hero of the third book kissed h and took a shower with her. (When h of the third book was told to be dead for years, but she was not; she was struggling with serious problems.)

❓❓❓Hero of the second book saw her naked body and then turned to see his shoes, and that satisfied me. He was not single at that time. He was with the girl from the second book, as we were told, that girl was his true love. But I still need to consider if i am gonna read book 2, cause I feel weird and bad that he saw heroine’s body of this one.

So, WTF of this H?????🤮🤮🤮🤮

Wow! What a debut. This is my very first dark romance and this book has stolen my heart with some of the characters.
I heard of this book as I follow the author on Instagram and others I follow reviewed it also with 5 stars so thought I'd give it a go and I'm so glad I did. Read this on kindle but definitely buying the paperback version so I have it forever. Ellie has done amazing with this book and I'm heartbroken I've finished it. Roll on number 2 in this series 💕

I was lucky enough to be sent an ARC copy of @elliekentauthor debut novel & wow, it exceeded my expectations! From the very beginning I was invested in these characters.. Theo has never been treated as an individual, her mothers dead & her father doesn't care. She's been held captivate her whole life but being King's prisoner is something else entirely. He likes to think he owns her, likes to think of himself as the King. She may be in his cuffs now, but she's Theodora Harlow. And it’s her turn to reign.

King Rhivers has never been in control of his own life. His father, Carlos Rhivers ran the Three Districts but with him finally out of the picture, he now controls everything. Including Theodora, with his handprint still imprinted around her neck.

This story keeps you on your toes & I won't lie... I've still not forgiven her for chapter 19! IYKYK! 😫🥺 I can't wait for you all to get your hands on King & Theos story on the 22nd September & I need Dax and Rori's story like yesterday. I can't wait for more & will definately be continuing the series. If this was the debut for Ellie, big things will be coming! 👏🏻

Absolutely blown away with this. The unique settings that Ellie describes with such vivid wording, you can literally see it. The characters are written with real conviction that you could almost believe they are far more than fictional characters.
Theo, she is a complex one as she is a very strong character, yet at times she is young and vulnerable, not to be mistaken as weak, but she definitely needs someone to always be beside her to push her to be her better self. She finds a great friendship in the darkest of places, a friendship that echoes through this first instalment and one I have no doubt will dip in and out of the Kings series.
King, what can I say, hot book boyfriend material! He has some questionable ways to keep Theodora in line, but boy he does it! He literally brings her to her knees. The waterfall, the Cell, the Mansion Thats all I will say in THAT! He is in the position of Leading the District alongside Dax and although this should be his top priority, somehow the girl he once left behind becomes his everything. He knows he can run the Districts with his Queen by his side

I am looking forward to seeing where the Fab Four takes us in the next instalment. I am hoping for more Dax and Rory as I can tell their story is stunning.

“I told you you're mine, mind, body, and soul. If I want to have you, then I'll ask for your permission. But you're already mine, Theodora Harlow, so I'm taking what's mine."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was such a page-turner!! I was intrigued even from the first page and after that, I was flying through the chapters the whole time! What a ride!!

For me, the highlight of the book was definitely the flashback scenes of Theo&King! They were sooooo cute when both of them were young and obliviously in love with each other UGHHH I LOVE THEM— and even when they thought they hated each other and tried to stay away from each other, their tension was insane! So yeah… I loved the “hate to love” aspect of their relationship A LOT.

What to expect:

⚜️ mafia romance
🖤 lovers to enemies to lovers (kinda)
⚜️ second chance
🖤 very possessive/protective MMC
⚜️badass FMC who knows her way around guns
🖤 a lot of dirty talk
⚜️ hot scenes in prison *wink wink*
🖤 suspense
⚜️ found family

And it’s set partly in prison! How cool is that?

Prisoner was definitely what I hoped it would be— and considering that this story is Ellie’s debut novel, I can say that SHE NAILED IT!

P.S. Can’t wait to read Saviour because I’m already in love with Dax&Rori🥹

I'm so late to the party on this one and I can only apologise but what a book!

King is 🔥 . I loved Theos relationship with Puck, and the will they won't they aspect to King and Theos relationship.

I couldn't put this book down, was desperate to know more and if it wasn't for me moving house I would have devoured it in one sitting. Its hot, it's traumatic and it's brilliant.

I know there is a new book coming out and I can't wait to read it.

What a debut! The author has written a story full of twists and one of heart. [edit: a week later and I’m still thinking about this book. I think I have a book hangover!].

Much tension exists between our main couple. Theo is sassy, smart, and brave. Yet she is also unafraid to be vulnerable with her self. She has suffered loss and is largely ignored by her father. King is morally grey at times yet underneath the walls has a caring side. He was put through some horrible circumstances with his family, also suffering losses. When the two of them are together, they tend to bicker and fight, even when they try to be open with each other. I feel like most of it comes from King’s side, since one thing he could work on is his communication and being honest with his feelings, because without it, it tends to cause issues where Theo is concerned. While Theo could trust King more, I feel like some of his actions give her enough reason not to during the times he doesn’t communicate well or acts hot and cold abruptly. There are times when Theo realizes why King says or acts as he does after the fact, but I think having King himself explain some of it would have been appreciated since I did want to see him grovel a bit more for putting Theo through the wringer sometimes.

For side characters, I absolutely adored Puck. He was probably one of the most selfless characters I’ve read about despite his tragic past. Dax and Rori are also an interesting pair and it seems like they are owed their own story. Dax himself is the good cop to King’s bad cop, and Rori somehow has both of them wrapped around her fingers.

In terms of plot, most of this was focused on Theo and King’s tumultuous relationship, with flashbacks also showing us why they did like each other before things fell apart. Without these flashbacks, it would have felt like their interactions early in the book were based on instalust rather than friends to lovers to enemies to lovers to second chance frenemies to lovers. There is also the mystery of who killed Theo’s mother and the rising tension between the District leaders. This is where much of the unexpected plots come in! I would need trigger warnings, which include violence and sexual assault among others.

Overall this was an engaging read and while this had a satisfactory ending, it feels like there is more to tell. I look forward to Book 2!.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really enjoyed this story, it was suspenseful, dark(yet not too depressing), and at times had some comedic relief lol I liked how Theo didn’t just allow her actions to be led by her lust, like many FMC. The background between the FMC and MC, kept the story from feeling like insta love.

Mild spoilers…
I will say that when authors don’t fully address the uniqueness of womanhood in certain situations it makes the reality of certain circumstances less plausible. Yes I know it’s fiction, but since it’s not fantasy, you should be able to picture these things happening in real life. Like how can a woman be sent to a prison full of men and not once is it mentioned what happens when she is on her period? Like do I need details, no, but tell me something. Is she so stressed and anorexic that she doesn’t get them now, does she secretly have some kind of implant or IUD? Which brings me to my next pet peeve, lots of unprotected sex, yet no concerns for the risk of pregnancy? No discussion of prevention?

Also the beginning there was discussion about how the burns hadn’t caused nerve damage, just left scars. This was confusing as scars occur as a result of healing, so when this was mentioned I thought it was a time jump, only for her to follow up saying it all happened only a few hours ago. She later mentioned her healing wounds, which made sense, but to call a fresh burn a “scar” implies it’s old and healed already, versus saying that it’s “going to leave scars.” So I had to read this passage over to figure out if there was a time jump or not.

I will say the ending kinda concluded fast and didn’t totally make sense. I would have liked to know more on how the prison makes money since some are criminals that I’m sure their families wouldn’t pay anything for, on top of the fact that they don’t do any kind of work that would earn the prison money either. Overall, really enjoyed the book and I binge read it, so that tells you it flowed very well.

Look forward to other books by this author

I got to 50 % into the book when i realized the ml lead sucked and wouldn't change .
-he puts the FMC in an all male prison because he wants her scared
- the FMC is almost SA because of him , he gave her a protector and then he took him away and he's the reason why she's in there
-he acts like a teenager, he's surprised when she rejects him in one scene so then he has to hurt her with his words . He's jealous of her protecter that he gave her, he doesn't sound like a grown man
- he isn't mad at her for killing his father, he's mad because he wanted to it first .
- he hurts her in multiple scenes , like slamming her head , choking her, humiliate her like making her strip multiple times, degrading her, etc
- dude was surprised when she reacted badly to him , he had like zero eiq and clearly has no empathy. He's mad at her for growing up better than his sister did , (weird thing to be mad about, that's why he seems like a teenager to me) . Which is also weird because he knows she doesn't have a good relationship with her father.
- Forcing her to do things she doesn't want to do, when she finally has friends he's taking her away. And he's the reason why her protecter got hurt.
- honestly i can't stand him, she looks terrible after being in there for 4 months, she's lost weight, had eye bags etc. But the only thing he's thinking is, why is she mad at me?
-this seems more like a bully romance except it seems he only wants to have sex with her, it doesn't seem like he cares about her at all .
And i know that this is the author's first book, and i know author often grow with their books. So while this book wasn't for me personally, it's no hate to the author. And i will maybe read the second book with dax because he honestly seems like good man unlike someone else cough King .

“𝑫𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒈𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆.”….

Theodora Harlow was dealt a shit hand. Growing up with a father being head of the second district she hasn’t had the best life. Always secluded and held in their home, homeschooled, no friends, but she’s always just made the best of what she could. Never complaining. Until….

Now she’s out for blood and revenge and she’s only got one chance.

𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈. 𝑵𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒓𝒐𝒑 𝒐𝒏 𝒂 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓, 𝒎𝒚 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈. 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒃𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒆𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔.

King Rhivers is the heir to the first district and Theo has always been his distraction. It’s time for him not to be distracted and get his head on straight. But can he?

“𝑰𝒏 𝒄𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕, 𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑰 𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒏 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆. 𝒀𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒐𝒏. 𝒀𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏. 𝒀𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒓. 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆’𝒔 𝒏𝒐 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝒀𝒐𝒖. 𝑨𝒓𝒆. 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒆!”

Okay I was literally on edge throughout this frigging book. I was full of all sorts of emotions I think my head still isn’t thinking straight.

“𝑰 𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝑷𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒚 𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒂𝒓.” 🫶🏼

Things I loved:
- Puck forever! 🖤
- The history
- The friendships
- The spice 🫠 goddamn Elssss! There was one scene when the simplest 3 words were said but the situation was just 😮‍💨🔗
- The twists and turns
- The drama

“𝑺𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒔.”

Okok I get it 😂 I loved it all.

Can’t believe this is your debut Elsss, it’s so frigging good and I’m so frigging proud. I can’t wait for more from you, this is just the beginning. Not sorry about being in your DMs screaming at you 😂 I’m passionate, what can I say.

“Wash him away, sweetheart”

I love nothing more than reading a author debut book.

Prisoner is book 1 in Ellie brand new dark romance series.

Theo looses her mother and she believes the man who killed her is Kings evil father. She kills him and King puts her into a secret prison with the worse kind of men.
I’m not going to go into all the details.

- I’m am very impressed. Loved Theo. Loved King. They fitted very well together. There are some very dark moments, some moments of cheekiness and then there the blushing moments. I loved them.

I thought the characters were solid. The writing was great. I can’t wait to see how she develops as a writer.

For me the plot had a few holes. I found it to be very fast paced at the beginning for me anyway. It would of been good if we had a moment at the beginning of the book where Theo was young playing with her best friend King. Would of made a better connection earlier on in the story then they had years apart and reconnected. That comes later which was a bit random but I did like it. I liked that they had each other. I wasn’t sure if it was meant to be plot twist.?

I have to speak about PUNK.!

Sad moment when he dies. I honestly thought for a moment he wasn’t dead. I would of loved his book, him getting out of jail and being able to move on with his life and letting go of all the pain he carried for years. Working along side King and Dax. Sad moment but I understand why his story ended that way.

These things didn’t stop me reading. I read this book in two sittings I found it very addictive. I think that was because of KING. 🤍

I’m looking forward to the next book. I wonder what way it will go? As this couple are already together.

Did not like it. Plot was boring. The male mc was terrible and I’m into dark romances and morally gray characters, this guy was just annoying and mean. He had no redeeming qualities or moments. He treated the female mc like shit most of the time and there wasn’t a time where I felt like he deserved her forgiveness yet she kept going back to him. I love a man who grovels for his woman or maybe has a moment of panic when he hurts her. This guy choked her out of anger (not lust) and then they pretended like nothing happened. At no point did I think he loved her, it just felt like he was using her bc she loved him and had no one else because he beat her down so much. And puck omg pick my baby. The only character I like dies 1/3 into the book. I cried bc of his death and when his mom comes into the picture. You could say that makes for good writing but when I cry at a book or a movie, I want to feel some kinda of closure or satisfaction after it. His death just felt unnecessary, cruel, and there wasn’t any good that came out of it. For being such a great character, I wanted him to get some sort of happy ending, which I don’t believe he did. He added a great part to the fmc and even to her relation with the mmc. But with his death, I just felt pain and never got any relief from that pain. Idk if it’s just me but you have to contrast the devastating death with something good and that did not happen bc sure the mains got together but their romance sucked. I would have rather read a story about puck alone even if it forgoes any sort of romance or smut.

I have added countless books to my ever-growing TBR because of the way Els writes her reviews and I would put money on other dark romance readers doing the same. So obviously I was excited when she announced she was going to be an author, but I was not prepared for what I found when I opened up Prisoner...

Ellie Kent is a natural.
Her writing flows so effortlessly, you wouldn't believe this is a debut.

Prisoner has everything we love about mafia romance. Theo is a fiesty FMC from the get go. And King is a prime alpha A-hole in a dreamy package. The hate/lust energy between them will have you begging for them to give into each other.

But even then there's no hearts and flowers romance here. It's hot and dirty. Tinged with pain and vengeance.

Secondary characters like Dax, Rori and Puck bring a side of humour, friendship and snark. While others incite rage and hatred.

The plot is tangled and complex and I did not see the ending coming, it boggles my brain how Authors create these intricate worlds with unexpected twists that when all is revealed finally make so much sense. That's right Els I said authors because that's what you are now babes! Round of applause to you for hitting the ground running with your 5 star debut! 👏

Obviously I need to keep this spoiler free, but I can't wait to see where Els is going to take the rest of this series.

Ellie Kent's debut novel is just fantastic 💫 amd after this amazing first book i expect more amazing books from her! ❣️
.
It has been written so well and so descriptive. I'm in love with the first book already can't wait for more! 🤧
Theo and King were fire together. They had their problems, but as the story went on the chemistry between them came out to be perfect. 🥵🔥 The handcuff and King's hand on her neck is everything I'm a sucker for🥵🤧
Theo was out for revenge. I should say my girl was brave enough 💫 she went through a lot specially losing her one and only friend Punk. I want him back😭
King, I don't know what to say about this man🥵🤧 He is such a alpha and short tempered and hot with all those tattoos ❣️ Theo was King's major distraction.
The pace of the storyline was perfect and twists in the end was truly unexpected.
Theo and King's chemistry is just so spicy🔥🖤
I was literally on edge throughout this book. I must say this is worth reading! Mafia dark romance never disappoints me! ❣️💫

Massive respect to Ellie as a debut novel this was great! Ellie has potential to be a fantastic writer and the spicy scenes were top notch!

This is a dark mafia romance, which of course is one of my favourites. I absolutely loved the concept of it being set in a prison I have never read a book with that setting and I thought it was really original. I found the storyline gripping throughout and the twists and turns kept me hooked.

I thought Theo was an interesting character. She had moments of being a bad bitch which I loved but she also had a lot of whiny weak moments which meant that I didn’t like her as much as I thought I would! King was the perfect dark anti hero. He was possessive and ruthless and had that dark edge to him that made him powerful. But I also liked getting the glimpses into his past and being able to see a softer side. As I said the spicy scenes were electric especially the waterfall one, you could really feel the chemistry between Theo and King.

I absolutely loved Puck he was top notch best friend material and the way he protected Theo was so cute! Although I didn’t love Rori I am intrigued by her and Dax’s story and I hope Ellie will continue writing and let us read their book at some point! If you are looking for a dark romance set in a prison give this a read!

Ok first of all, the absolute POTENTIAL that Ellie has of becoming a successful author shows itself with this being her first ever debut novel.

I mean the skill, the storyline, the character development, the plot twists.. this isn’t amateur shit. This is GREAT. If this is Ellie’s first book, I cannot wait to see how her work and fandom will grow. Serious potential here!

I am so impressed.

Theo is just fantastic, the “take no shit” female role is just amazing and King.. (although I am Team Puck for life) I have a love/hate relationship with him🫠😈

The spice. The twists and turns that you don’t see coming. Dax and Rori. This series needs to be continued. There is so much more needed to be said and shown and I’m sure Ellie will be capable of bringing it all to the table in a masterpiece series.

The fact that it is set in a prison is quite unique, I’ve never come across a Dark Romance book before that has this setting. You can often find lots of common themes between Dark Romance Novels, reoccurring themes should I say but Prisoner stands on its own. It is so individual, you’ve not read anything the same before.🙌🙌

I was ridiculously consumed by this book, I read it in one sitting and loved every minute of it! It was such a unique concept which I thought was done incredibly well I’ve never read a book quite like it before and I don’t think I will ever again, I loved Theo and King’s back-and-forth I loved there pull to each other it was seriously magnetic!

This book is Ellie’s debut novel and well it was written impeccably and the storyline was done perfectly and the pacing I think was also really well written and timed, overall you wouldn’t think it was her first book because it was done that well!

Both Theo and King were amazing characters I loved both of their dynamic, demeanour and everything else They had to offer. Theo was so overcoming and showed real strength with also being so kind and loving. And king, king, king you had me by the throat literally 😉 I love his character and his strong domineering attitude, definitely!

Overall I am in a chokehold and I cannot wait to see where Ellie takes this world and what’s next for the Kings of the first district universe, and also the fact that Puck will forever be in my heart and my soul and I love him!!! ⛓📚

fantastic debut novel! 🙌🏼

Oh my goodness, this was so good!! I am so glad I found Ellie and she graced us with Theo and King. The whole book was a whole lot of tension, heartache, and love. The TWIST! So good!!! 🙌🏼 I even shed real tear reading this 🥹. It gives you all the emotions!

Theo has been essentially captive her whole life. So being a prisoner is almost nothing new. I love her spark and willingness to take matters into her own hands. She is precious, tough, and broken all at once. Watching her throughout the book is kind of heartbreaking, but the end is so redemptive. Her friendship with Puck 🥹😭!!!

King is such an alphahole 😋. He has seen way more in his life than anyone should have to. Although he is jaded and closed off, I love seeing glimpses of what lies underneath. Man, does he had a lot weighing in his shoulders.

Okay, I am so pumped for Dax and Rori’s book! Loved their presence in Prisoner and that neither of them took any crap from King. I cannot wait to see their journey unfold! 👏🏼

I'm so impressed Prisoner is Ellie’s debut novel & even more excited theres more to come from this series. I haven’t read a book like this before so I was a little skeptical going into it, but it far exceeded my expectations!

Theodora “Theo” Harlow has always been somewhat of a prisoner in her own life. She’s homeschooled, without friends, and kept at home unless her father, who runs District 2, drags her along to business meetings…that is until her mother dies. Theo’s not convinced it was at her mother's hand and is on a mission to find out who killed her mother.

King Rhivers is next in line to run the Three Districts when his father dies - an opportunity that was taken away from him. King is now in charge of the Three Districts…as well as his newest prisoner, Theo.

I fell in love with Theo, who even after being held captive all her life, she is strong, smart and a little sassy! King is as morally grey as they come (which I love) he’s rough and dark, but we get glimpses of those soft spots he has for Theo as we see how their relationship started.

Ellie both delivered with the spice (helllooo waterfall) & drama (those prison scenes!). I never know where this story was going to go which is a testament to Ellie’s writing!

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐨, 𝐈 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 - 𝐏𝐮𝐜𝐤🥺

I don't think that I have ever read a book about a prisoner. So that was a new one for me. I really liked it though.

Theodora and King, 2 individuals growing up in the same circle of violence, blood, lust. When they lose each other because of circumstances they never knew that they would cross paths again, but when they do? Oh men😂

Theo is on a mission to take out the men who hurt her mom.. Will she succeed?

The look King gave Theo when she was caught was hilarious, it was all a game to him. So when Theo became Kings prisoner things happen between them, good and bad.

Plotwist that they both never saw coming🤯
Can they leave the past and betrayel behind?

King is an asshole, but I still love him.. Dax is an amazing friend, I wonder if we will see him again?

But Puck🥺 that shit hurt!!

I really liked the story that Ellie wrote, and can't wait for the next one!

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Ellie, thank you for trusting me with this ARC, your debut and to think that it wasn't even your intention, you still did it girl and I'm proud of you🖤

I was hooked and there was no way turning back. From the first page to the very last I couldn't put down the book. It was a fast read , really kept you engaged from the start to the end. The characters god I love them all so much, King my god this man he if don't scream a red flag then I really don't know what doesn't but did that stop me from loving him...hell no red is my new favourite 🤣 Theo god this women is one strong ass women and I loved her, she stood her ground , she fought for what she thought was right and she loved hard and my god the things the girl went through was heart breaking but that didn't stop her she only fought back harder and that made me love her even more.
I would say please read the triggers warnings because there are thing where your like woah okay and does take you back for sure but I would 100% recommend this book. Its a fast pace book, your hooked, and you will love the plot from the get go and won't be able to put it down 😀

This is a dark romance and involves the families of Theo, who is a girl, and King. King's father is in charge of the different districts which make him kind of like a mafia don. King and Theo had a history together when they were teenagers. A lot has happened since then. Now King is dark and troubled. Theo also wants revenge against King's father and she plans to get it. King, to me, is the epitome of the antihero. All of the things King did to Theo I don't know that I could have forgiven him. I think most of this book Theo struggles with both loving and hating King. The true hero for me is Puck. There are a lot of back stabbing and plays to take control of power in this book. I think that a good book can evoke feelings out of you for the characters. I did enjoy the book, I just think King was a major jerk. I would have run far away from him.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I am still completely blown away that this is Ellie's debut novel!?

The writing was incredible and the plot kept me on the edge of my seat literally the whole way through! I'm a sucker for a dark romance but add mafia to that mix? I'll eat that shit up.

Theo was a badass bitch and I bloody loved her the whole way through. I admired her strength and determination and her ability to never give up no matter how hard things got - and let me tell you, there were *tough* times!

King, ohhh King was everything I needed and more! I will never not love a morally grey aplha-hole 👀😍 his love for Theo ran deep and seeing them together after everything made my heart so happy 🥹

Loved the side characters just as much - Dax & Rori omg GOALS and Puck? My hero, always 🫶🏼

Oooh and the spice? *Chefs kiss* 🥵

If you love a dark mafia romance of definitely get your hands on this one!
