This book was almost a ritual to my sister and me. Our mom would hold the book and turn the pages, and we'd all sing the words (to the tune of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home," of course). The words are a joy to sing and rhyme, with a handful of alternate choices under the flaps on each page (we'd just sing them all). If that weren't fun enough, every page is the equivalent of a "Where's Waldo" page, but better. The illustrations are whimsical cutaways of anthills with what felt like hundreds of ants all doing their own thing (some are in the dance hall, some are on the toilet, or eating dinner, etc.). What with the song, the flaps, and finding Anthony Ant, this book is the epitome of interactive picture books to me. Highly recommended.
Childhood favourite. I love the combination of repetitive, rythmic chanting / singing, and following the mazes. Very interactive, and brilliant detailed illustrations of the ants nests'.
