THE VAMPIRE GAME: DISCOVERY

Several years ago, Derek Brenner led an ordinary human life with a beloved wife and child, having many aspirations and dreams. But all that would dramatically change as tragedy struck his family. In a effort to heal, he began to express his feelings in writing and soon became a bestselling author who wrote about vampires. But little did he know what he viewed as fiction would soon manifest itself in a very real way in his life.

Now introduced into an elite society, Derek is entangled in a new life dynamic within a real vampire coven. A complete twelve ever pursuing that high, which promised youth, beauty, strength and power. Each commanded until death to be part of its insatiable ritual; a ritual ever searching for its next victim; a sacrifice ordained from another world and commanded by a goddess of the heavens to cleanse the earth and give blood as a sacrifice for her one true love.

Lately, Derek is at odds with this elite group as he questions the deaths of former members; there is just something about them that doesn't add up. But along the way, he stumbles upon something even bigger as he discovers lost keys to their ritual--keys that will change his life and the coven's dynamic forever. But unfortunately, it isn't long before his discovery comes to light and he is quickly plagued by those who desire this newfound information. Now caught between advancing the coven and a concern for humanity, Derek embarks on a quest to acquire these lost pieces, all the while trying to keep the coven from becoming bigger monsters than they already are. A lot is on the line; his life may hang in the balance because of it.

What a unique take on the vampire genre. Although I feel that the latter end of the book could have been more developed, I'm looking forward to the next installment of the trilogy. Loved it.
