Having been a fan of Michael Hamm for several years now, I couldn't resist picking up this book. Don Riling was inspired by Michael's cosplay and crafted a new superhero with Michael gaining some incredible powers.
I have to confess this book is one you honestly cannot put down. I am a slow reader and it took me a few days to complete this. It is so good. The intrigue and mystery surrounding the origin of Michael's new powers was so captivating. This is going to sound so bizarre, but it had such a believable quality to the story that you could see this happening. I guess when you seamlessly rope in voodoo witches from New Orleans it sort of makes sense.
Don did something else with his writing that was just mesmerizing. He literally captured Michael Hamm in all of his quirky, nerdy, introverted, sensitive self. Reading Michael's thoughts in the book as well as the dialog, it felt like I was watching one of his YouTube videos or reading his blogs on Patreon. I was not expecting to feel as though Michael was in the story that way. Don did it. He really did.
The book is short, but it is full of intrigue and action. There is a lot of heart in these pages and it is well worth the purchase price.
