Charlie Rhodes has a lead on her past, but it just might endanger her future. Nothing can stop her from seeking answers though, which means a trip to Colorado with her boyfriend Jack. Her parents and brother are along for the ride. There’s just one problem … death has followed them to Estes Park. It seems the hotel they’re staying at—the famous one was all booked up—is in the midst of a training session. Charlie doesn’t think much of it until a body appears in the hedge maze behind the hotel. That’s not all, because there’s a creature to go along with the body, and it has murder on its mind. The Legacy Foundation has been grounded since the death of one of their own, but a potential krampus connection changes things. That means backup is coming, and Charlie’s fact-finding mission turns into a fight for survival. Between the hotel workers, who are acting very odd indeed, and the return of the crossroads demon helping Charlie, she has her hands full. A fight is coming, and Charlie needs help to battle the evil chanting her name. Unfortunately for her, trouble is coming in from every direction, and it’s going to take everybody working together to come out on the other side. Charlie’s biggest enemy has made it back to this plane. Before she can take down Sybil, however, she has to know the truth about her past. Brace yourselves, because it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
Yes, Jack is a bossy bully. I’m still pissed at their codependent abusive relationship. The author should do better and be better.
Their gross displays of affection when they’re supposed to be working, or in front of Charlie’s family are super icky and cringeworthy.
Jack sucks at his job. He’s only interested in keeping Charlie safe, and to hell with anyone else. Chris, Bernard, and Casey went into the snowy mountains, but he decided to stay at the hotel to traipse around with Charlie.
Charlie’s cruel to her birth parents. Not spending Xmas with them is unbelievably selfish. Jack sends mixed messages about them. One minute mean mugging Mike and the other guilt tripping Charlie that they only want what’s best for her. They need to get over themselves and realize it’s not all about them. They are two of the most selfish characters I’ve ever read.
If they’re so fearful of Sybil, why wouldn’t Charlie start reading the book in the language she doesn’t understand right away? Come on! She’s a selfish baby.

This is an exceptionally entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. The spectacular cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Charlie Rhodes is a magical person who is part rich and part a lot of other things. She has more power than she knows what to do with it or how to use yet. She joined a mystical monster hunting group to hide in plain sight and learn more about what she might be. She had to phone and love as she went along and made a lot of friends in the group but she still must hide her magic from the main bosses etc. She also must fight evil in the world and an evil witch that is hunting her. she was reunited with her birth parents and together they are trying to battle the evil witch with the help of friends and other magical beings. Read on and follow the adventure this time and see where it leads. Surprising and entertaining to the end.
This book is highly entertaining and made me laugh in several places. The “Legacy” team are a family , all getting over Laura’s death and feeling guilty in some way , despite her being a horrible person. Love that this book has been released just before Christmas, lots of releases this time of the year give us a sucky story featuring Christmas but this book although seasonal doesn’t go there. The way Charlie’s relationship with her family and Jack is developing over the series is one of my favourite things. The way she and Jack especially interacts with Harley is hilarious. Great to see the Loas involved and everyone preparing for Sybil’s return. Charlie now knows a lot more about how the came to be placed with the Rhodes and knows what’s coming for her. A fantastic book with just the right amount of schmaltz for me.
This book is probably my second favorite in the Charlie Rhodes series. There are some answers we've been waiting for. I don't want to spoil anything so that's all I'll say about that. Charlie is honestly working on her abilities. It seems like she's growing as a person and finally embracing her magic as a part of who she is. I think anyone who has read the series will love this. If this is the first Charlie mystery I would suggest you read earlier books. Most importantly 10 and 11 will catch you up to this book. Personally I'd start at book one because the series feels like a puzzle, each book bringing you more pieces.
Charlie and Jack are on vacation in Colorado at the Ridge near the Stanley that was in the Shining with Charlie's parents and brother. They run into the Krampus over a dead body in the hedge maze. The Legacy Group get called in to investigate. They also need to interact with Enid at the Loa's suggestion.
Always snarky and surprising. Charlie’s adventures might be getting her group into deep trouble. How will she save the day next time? Harley and Charlie make a great team but Charlie needs to stop being a hot mess about Harley and her help. What type of magic do Charlie’s parents and brother have? She’s so powerful where did that come from? I look forward to learning more about Charlie as she grows into her powers.
Is here in Colorado and Estes Park no less. Its beautiful up in those mountains. Charlie and Jack along with Charlies family are on vacation when they go into the maze and find a K ramp us by a dead body. Not all things are as they seem. Harley is back and weak, Papa Legba shows up and we have the Legacy foundation up in arms about what happen to Laura. But the heroes come thru we can celebrate Christmas and we get a wedding to look forward to. 💚💙
This storyline has meandered along with so many twists it’s crazy. Through it all the cast of characters has remained the same. Charlie’s group gets sent to places being plagued by seemingly mystical creatures. The thing about these books is that they are a story within a story. Think of it like a long running television series. There is a main story followed each week but each episode has its own story. This series is very cute and I adore it.
It’s funny but I’ve only heard of a Krampus one time and that was in a cartoon that it was a monster that came out at Christmas. That would be a super scary thing specially the way they described it in his book. I love these books when one comes out I’ve already had to read and waiting for the next one as usual this was a great one
What a completely enjoyable read! Charlie, Jack and everyone are back for another exciting mystery. A vacation becomes a lot more than they expected when Charlie and Jack explore a hedge maze at the hotel they are staying in and find so much more than just a dead body…
Charlie has enough on her plate with her friend Harley still gone, a magical nemesis who wants her powers, and now, while on vacation they encounter a Krampus. How will they ever figure out how to keep Charlies’s secret when the Legacy Foundation has been called in to help.
Love this series. The characters are interesting as are the storylines. The build up to the war with Sybil has added an extra layer of anticipation and intrigue. This series has so many avenues available to explore with the paranormal. Hopefully Charlie and her crew along with old friends and allies will continue the adventure s.
I love Krampus stories and this is a total hoot! The characters are well developed and fun. Nice amount of romance between Charlie and Jack. Looking forward to more stories with the perfect touch of warped humor. Guess it is time to continue wrapping presents! Ho ho ho!
You outdid yourself with this one Amanda. The way you dealt with all the characters was spot on. I love that you threw in a Uranus into the cryptid list. This was beautifully written and a great first Christmas for all the characters. Well written and well executed!
This book was amazing. Charlie and Jack are great, the hedge maze thing totally freaks me out. I will have night mares about the thing. I never liked Krumpas. I am so in love with Charlie and Jack being in love. I love how bad ass Charlie has become and glad that her friend is back. I can't wait to see what happens next.

I really liked this book. Charlie Rhodes has magic, she also has powerful friends from other planes. Charlie and Jack come up against a Krampus and wolves. They have to find the witch that has enthralled the Krampus. Charlie is good at helping otherworldly creatures. I can't wait to read the next book.
I like when you can't figure out the whodunnit at the first. This was a good story. I enjoy the fun banter between Jack and Charlie and the bond Millie has with them both as well as Chris. I'm excited to see how they take care of Sybil and when Harley will return.
I’m addicted to everything this author writes. I understand her brand of sarcasm and can relate and laugh with the characters while they go through their adventures and challenges. I’m at my happiest when I am driving home from a tough work day and get engrossed in her audiobooks. I like to read some on kindle in my spare time too!
I very much enjoyed this addition to the series. The following was my favorite quote from the book:
“I love you … so much. You have no idea how much. It’s bigger than a hippopotamus. That’s how much I love you.” I frowned. “I expected to say something more eloquent. What’s wrong with me?”
So Charlie and Jack have vacation plans, but it turns into a work trip when a Krampus is spotted in Colorado at their hotel. Things are on hold with Sybil for now, but she always looms in the background as a danger. Charlie tries to bond with her family, which is somewhat tough going.
I really enjoy this series with Charley getting ready for the battle of her life. She continues to gain skills and friends along the way. The plot and subplots move quickly, making it hard to put the book down. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
It was worth the wait. Jack and Charlie are so good together. I am glad that you are continuing your writing. Don't ever quit please. Thank you for being such a wonderful writer!
Really enjoyed this book. Jack and Charlie have come a long way. We are finally starting to get real answers. I love this series and am sad it is about to end, but enjoying the ride. Definitely recommend.
Loved it. So much revealed about Charlie in this book. There were plenty of plot twists and turns. The ending of the book was magical. I recommend reading the entire series.
I like this whole series! The only thing I was disappointed with was (spoiler alert) they didn't get Chris one picture of the Krampus. The man deserves one picture. And they had so many opportunities to get one.
I always enjoy reading Amanda Lees books. Her female characters are funny, snarky and loyal. The men don’t mind a strong woman. I’m excited to see how it all plays out. Charlie is one of favorite series!
I enjoy this series, and I like that Charlie is becoming more confident. I look forward to more Harley and the battle with Sybil. The plot is relatively easy to figure out, but the characters help mitigate that.
I really enjoyed this Charlie Rhodes mystery. I enjoyed the main characters I like the interactions between the main characters. The Mystery is always fun to try to figure out.
This author nails another one. I love reentering this world with every well-written new release. Adding in that it was a Krampus one right before Christmas was just a cherry on top.
I really enjoyed this book! It seems to help us celebrate the 'family' the characters have become! Like and dislike. They all love each other in their own way! Including the Krampus!
