Having witnessed the staggering power of the Shadow Monarch, Jinwoo can’t wait to level up and reach those heights, and what better way to do so than to mobilize his army of soldiers against an S-rank dungeon’s worth of giants? Saving a country abandoned by the rest of the world has its benefits—international renown, the expansion of his guild, an invitation to the most prestigious hunter conference in the world—but perhaps the most unexpected bonus is a run-in with another Monarch who brings not-so-welcome tidings. If he’s to be believed, a war is coming that not even Jinwoo is strong enough to stop…
Underwhelming again and a bit confusing I wasn't sure who the Villains Were supposed to be to be honest. Who's evil the monarchs OR the rulers? I guess I'll have to keep reading to find out! I am so obsessed with this series although objectively It's nothing special, it's a bit like chocolate you can't get enough of it! I will be sad to see the end of this series but I am also quite curious about how it Will unfold. Ready for the next book. Here we go.
The lore expansion in books 5 and 6 and jinwoos emotional growth and depth is exactly what I had been missing from this series as a whole. Two books left and I don’t want it to end 😭
Ohhhh things are starting to heat up! Other players in the board and the lore is being revealed. Excited to see what happens but sad to approach the end.
I enjoy the series but I do feel as though the Monarch storyline came a little bit out of left field. Sort of feels like we are departing from the original plot because the author has run out of content regarding the first plot line arc. Looking forward to seeing how Jinwoo retains his humanity while also continuing to grow stronger for what is to come.
"Since you died because you were so selfish, why don't we call you Greed?"
Solo Leveling Volume 6 is the sixth instalment in the portal fantasy series by the same name. Written in third person POV, we continue to follow Jinwoo Sung who has vastly changed from the weak E level hunter he was in book one. Now the all-powerful Shadow Monarch, Jinwoo is looking to test his limits and use his army...and there just so happens to be a country in need. Yet as Jinwoo seeks out the thrill of the hunt the political landscape centers around him. In addition a war seems to be looming and it becomes clear Jinwoo is not as alone as he once thought...
As I have mentioned before, I devoured this series over the course of three days and am only now writing my reviews (currently reading the manhwas now). I love this series and here are some of the reasons I loved book six:
1. THE LORE just keeps getting better and better - we're finally getting into understanding more about why Jinwoo is what he is and how to play in the larger scheme. 2. New monsters that drew my attention - I love seeing the monster become more complex and advanced and we get some pretty fascinating ones here. 3. Jinwoo being a one man nation and just WINNING - one of the reasons this series is so good is Jinwoo's lone wolf vibe and seeing him become a state of his own and the world being desperate to have some time for him is so much fun. 4. The USA Conference was everything I wanted - I love the expanding of the universe but also the tension and insanity of this scene had me in its grips. 5. The one liner Jinwoo gave to Greed (if you know, you know) - no notes 6. The feelings I got when something BIG happened - I cried and if you love these characters and stories you may, too.
29/08/2025 3.75 ⭐ Things are really heating up with the demons, which is so interesting, but I really don't know how everything is going to go down in just two more volumes!
Maybe I read the translation that's why a bit confusing on the level differences between "kaisar" and "raja". so seong jin woo is raja, then is raja higher level than kaisar?
The story telling is a bit confusing. The scenes that was meant to give hints to unravel the mystery, are all over the place, lots of bit and pieces, so it is difficult for me to combine it to create some theory. Maybe I'm just too dumb.
However, I still enjoy reading the story. As usual, I just skip the cofusion and enjoy the progress. I don't need to know everything now.
so, currently the actor who will play Seong jin woo in the live action had been announced. I am oke with the choice Byeon Woo-seok. Although I think the acting is quite average based on some of his kdrama that I watched, but I think he still can play this character well.
Another fun installment. For the first time I'm starting to see the arc of this series expand. And as I said in the last book I actually wasn't having a problem with the limited scope of the arc. As far as I'm concerned this could end in two more books and I think it would be excellent.
So this volume starts with Jinwoo going to Japan for the Giants, we get a bit of info from a new type of character related to said Giants. Then we have Jinwoo in America including a fight with a national level hunter. Then we have a new monarch and the death of a beloved side character. We end with a new enemy that's actually strong enough not to be basically a one punch victim.
Jinho is so loyal to Jinwoo - demonstrated through his actions in Japan and America here. I like that these events ended up in the same volume; it highlights their brotherly bond.
The way the international guild conference is written has many points that remind me this novel is not meant to be realistic, but rather is about making one guy the most OP ever with no consequences for his actions. Oop.
Meanwhile, the hunt for the top hunters has started, and I'm once again upset about Go Gunhee.
Memorable moments -Starting out with seeing the people of Japan struggle yet some maintain their principles even in the face of death -Jinwoo coming in to become the beacon of light with his army of shadows. -Seeing what a Monarch can do to top ranked hunter -Rage over Jinho's torture and seeing the true power as Jinwoo beats up Thomas -Seeing that Chairman Go did host a ruler.

Well, as a non-korean speaker, I really wish the author had used more distinct names for the two friends who run the guild together. Wait, is he talking about Jinwoo or Jinho? I can't tell, I can only guess based on context. The one who calls the other "boss" must be Jinjo. This only really applies to the audible version.
A lot of action. But also a lot of politics (bleh).
More twists have been revealed.
And Jinwoo is definitely a better person than me. After finding my best friend in that state, I would have given America and the conference a big old' finger and gone home.
4/5 - Great installment of Solo Leveling. There seems to be much higher stakes in this one, which was fun to see. The battle/action scenes were well written. They were also more abundant in this one. I wish there would be a bit more on the relationship building side, but I guess this just isn't that type of book.
I felt like so much happened in this book! The world continues to expand, we're getting more hints of the upcoming war and exploring outside of Korea and getting a glimpse of other renowned hunters! I liked what this one explored and I am eagerly anticipating where the last two novels will take the story!
I can't say much without giving away anything, but the progression is not disappointing!
I am absolutely happy with the series. It knows what it is, sticks to it and does it phenomenally. It provides depth when needed, but is ultimately an action-filled power fantasy. Jinwoo Sung is great as a protagonist.
I think I have officially stopped understanding what is happening. So many characters. Annnd, maybe I sped up the audio too much- who can say? I still want to see it through, but I'm not sure if I'm going to get as much out of it at this point.
THIS. BOOK. WAS. SO. GOOD. Angry-Momma-Bear Jinwoo was so fun to read!!!! I also really appreciate that things aren't stalling overall plot wise, we are still going to full steam ahead.
