Freezing the Puck

Justin
I thought I’d left my past in Minnesota when I moved to Iowa, but it was right there waiting for me.
Long blonde hair, curves in all the right places, and a death glare that hits harder than a slap shot to the solar plexus. On the ice, I’m a pro at blocking shots, but Savannah Bowen has slipped behind all my defenses and made a home in my heart.
I had no intention of revisiting the past, but when she’s damn near everywhere I go, I’m a goner.

Savannah
Hell freakin’ no.
It doesn’t matter that Justin Ashe is seven feet tall and sexy as sin, or that I’ve had a crush on him for years. He cheated on my best friend in high school, and that makes him off limits.
I can’t be with him, but damn, it’s impossible to stay away from him. Girl Code says uteruses before duderuses.
He’s supposed to be my enemy, but the more I see of him, the blurrier the lines get.

Welcome to UCR hockey, where fierce AF heroines and hot as puck heroes find their hockey ever afters. If you pucking love college hockey romance series, you’ll adore UCR Raccoons hockey.

Freezing The Puck is the great start of a new series written by Lasairiona McMaster.
We meet new characters that attend the Cedar Rapids University, and most of them play hockey for the Racoons.

Savannah and Justin come from the same place in Minnesota but they weren't excited to see each other at college, because their fiendship was alreay ruined before they left the high school. She was hesitant to open up to him again because his past history with girls wasn't brilliant, but he was pretty irresistible to stay away for long.

I've really enjoyed to follow Justin and Savannah through the page of this book and to see the creation of their own romance. I adored our hero, of many talents, conquering the woman he likes and to make her change her mind showing how a nice guy he is in reality.

A good first entry for this series, I'm already looking for the next book.

I didn't make it very far before giving this one up. It was just too much. Savanah a lot to take, then her freaking out over the boy, the boy from her childhood she crushed over. It all seemed very childish to me. This one just wasn't for me.

4.5⭐️

I loved this book!

It was funny, romantic, relatable & fun.

I loved the added element of both characters being romance book fans so all the conversations about books and also how life sadly isn’t usually like a romance novel we’re so fun to have included.

I think college romances are always my favourite because the characters still feel so relatable for me. I know what the over thinking, stressed out minds are like and it makes the book more real. Add in the humour this book had and funny one liners & it felt so realistic and I just enjoyed the reading experience so much.

For me the book only loses half a star because I think there was maybe a little too much will they won’t they in the first 50%. I would have preferred a little bit more action (😏) more quickly personally

I loved the non break up third act break up.

I’m so excited to see where the series goes and who all the characters are gonna get to be.

Just read it - it’s great!

(I received an ARC for this book)

I fell in love with Lasairiona’s last series, Snow Pirates. And while I knew I was going to love this new series, I wasn’t expecting to love it more right out of the gate! It was so easy to fall in love with this book! I loved the inclusion of the serious topics, I loved the right amount of humor sprinkled in, I loved the bonds between the main characters and their best friends, and within the hockey team. You can tell Lasairiona loved these characters. Which made me love them even more! It was love at first chapter for me, and that’s thanks to Savannah and Athena. Justin made me ‘aw’ from the moment we got in his head. I was a goner for him, and then all his teammates, too. I loved how fiercely they supported him. Savannah really is supposed to hate him, girl code and all that. Except the universe keeps crossing their paths, making the hatred easy to ignore. Not to mention Justin just being Justin. Justin wears his heart on his sleeve, his emotions all over his body, out in the open. Big and loud, proud. This man is an anomaly! If you’re looking for the perfect book boyfriend that will only raise your standards more, I found him! Even though he’s a perfect candidate for the book boyfriend list, I felt more like a proud mom. For Savannah, too. Proud as hell of both of them! They both feel big, together, all at once, and unafraid. Okay, they’re terrified, but they want to be afraid together. Their love is just one big grand gesture. And I couldn’t get enough! I fell in love with the way Lasairiona is so unapologetic about the real world NORMAL things she incorporates into her books, and obviously this one is no different! I have read HUNDREDS of books, and this is the first one that discusses farts!

My Favorite Quotes:
• “You will have my name across your shoulders someday soon.”
• “I won’t ever quit until you come for me.”
• “Pretty special, huh?”
• “Harder. I’m not fucking fragile.”
• “I think I’m falling for you Savannah Jane. I think I’m falling for you hard.”
• “This, what we have? This is our story. We’re the authors.”

Absolutely Brilliant!!!!
I loved Justin and Savannah, and I loved this story.
I am in complete awe of Lasairiona McMasters skillful writing, it flows effortlessly and is so emotional, funny, and sweet.
I adore hockey romance and this one is such a fabulous read.
Justin and Savannah have history but not in the way you think, it's by association, as Justin used to date Savannah's best friend. This was in High School and it ended badly with accusations of cheating and so Savannah does not see Justin in a favourable light.
Now it's college and Justin and Savannah end up going to the same college in Iowa, and literally the past has come to haunt them both and initially they don't exactly get along.
But things take a turn and Justin and Savannah get close and realise that they actually do like one another and have things in common.
Justin is so swoon worthy, romantic, and sweet. I love his emotional side and he is so caring and thoughtful. Savannah definitely misjudged him.
Savannah has some issues she needs to deal with and I loved he way they help each other with whatever they need.
I really enjoyed my time reading this book and I think I am going to become addicted to this series.
Because Freezing The Puck has impressed me and compelled me to want more from all of these characters, and this new world of college Hockey.
A Sensational story.- Cat W.

So first off, I feel like I should lead with the fact I'm an ARC member. That being said, if this is anything to judge the newest series by Lasairiona then I must say I'm so excited for every book. The realism with which she writes her characters is so relatable. Every book of hers I have ever read, I find myself relating to at least some part of the FMC. I love that this book showcases the fact that not everything you see and hear is black and white. There is always some grey area. In the previous series, the Snow Pirates, I was really convinced that Justin was a selfish cheating a-hole. The fact that his is the first story had me doubting if I wanted to read it, if only because I can't stand a cheating bastard 🤷‍♀️. I read it anyway (mostly because Lasairiona is one of my favs so I had to at least give it a shot). I love, love, love this story. I'm excitedly awaiting the next installment and highly recommend this book.

Freezing the Puck is the start of an amazing new hockey series!!!

Savannah and Justin story was absolutely adorable. From the very beginning these two made me smile.

Savannah and Justin relationship was such incredible to see how they both navigated some past history. (Former classmates from high school). And how it evolved to something so precious.

I can’t wait to continue with this series and read more about these hockey players.

Arc provided for honest review.

Okay, so I was super excited when I found out that Lasairiona E. McMaster was starting a new hockey romance series - and “Freezing the Puck” did not disappoint!!! I adored Justin and Savannah’s love story; Justin was incredibly swoony and Savannah was bold and brilliant. I loved that Justin fell first, and I really felt for him as certain aspects of his past were discovered. And Savannah! I admired her because of her confidence and kindheartedness. 5 freaking stars!!!

Wonderful start to the series

There is lots to love in this book. The characters were well developed and apart from me rooting for the main characters Savannah and Justin, the dynamics of the De La Peňa family were an additional joy.
I was happy when Justin could finally reveal his truths and put aside his past.
Savannah also had a great deal to come to terms with...
All in all, this was an emotional, low angst, enjoyable romp in the UCR world.

I was so excited to read this since it takes place in Cedar Rapids, IA. There are hardly any books that take place in Iowa, let alone Cedar Rapids. However I was seriously let down. Some of the details/inner dialogue was so cringe and unnecessary, like I should not have had to read pages about how both main characters had to hold their farts in. I should have DNFed. Safe to say I will not be continuing the series. Also this book has over a 4.0 goodreads rating! HOW?!

She’s done it again. I swear great books pour out of this woman like molten lava.
I fully went into reading this book not prepared to like Justin but when you get characters written so well you can’t help but fall in love with them.
Once again Lasairiona has written real relatable characters and you can see parts of yourself in them. Not just the main ones but also the supporting roles. I’m loving the fire brought by Hen. And the don’t give two hoots attitude of Ares. It’s makes you very interested to see what’s coming next for them while still being fully invested in the lead roles.
I also love that we get glimpses of our beloved Snow Pirates too. I’m totally here for it.
More please Ms McMaster!
I read this book as an ARC read and loved every delicious page.

Cedar Rapids Raccoons is the new series by Lasairiona. She did not disappoint! I fell in love with every new character we met.
There is so much to unpack in this story, and all I know is that I'm left with a book hangover and the need to reread.
Savannah, we have met before. It's wonderful to see her growing up in Cedar Rapids. While she looked calm, cool, and collected on the outside, we learn that appearances are deceiving. She is working through some heavy stuff. Savannah's journey comes through the pages as you read in an emotional way. My heart felt so much for her on so many different levels.
Justin, sweet, sweet Justin! My fellow #4 (IYKYK), so much of what he felt, thought, and did is relatable on a core level. I think this is the first book where I could relate more to the male character than the female one in terms of personality. He was strong yet vulnerable, and he really wanted to find his person.
Savannah and Justin's journey together takes the reader on a ride that isn't full of hearts and flowers. It's authentic, raw, vulnerable, and consuming.
Lasairiona opened a new series strongly. If you haven't read her before, this would be the perfect place to start. Her stories encompass so much more than hockey. Each one is unique and original, including the issues facing the characters.
Overall, this is an excellent read, and I am honored to have ARC read. I would recommend it to anyone who would listen, and I cannot wait to own the discreet cover of the paperback. Five stars with the expectation of rereading on release day.

This is a relatively new to me author, I haven't read her previous series so thought this was a good time to start as it's a new series. I really enjoyed this and loved the characters. The story was engaging and the writing flowed well. I particularly enjoyed the nods to the tropes in their story as well as Savannah's love of romance books (so relatable), and Justin's writing of course. Plus the mentions of other authors work was fun. I'm definitely keen to read the next book in the series and am hoping we'll find out what's going on with Hen before too long!
This kept me reading when I should've been doing other things which is always a good sign. The only reason it's not a 5 star is because it didn't move me to tears, so it wasn't quite the full package. But it was very close.
I received an ARC from the author

Not all men need to be an Alpha…

If there is one thing Savannah holds on to, is that it’s always sisters before misters. So when years ago, Justin cheated on her best friend Molly, that was the foundation of a hatred still lasting till present times.
Luckily, Savannah and Justin never crossed paths, until just recently. Now they seem to meet each other all the time, and despite Savannah efforts, she starts to feel an attraction towards him. An attraction she tries to resists, because of what Justin did to her best friend and is still unforgivable.
However, Justin may not be the guy everyone thinks he is. In fact, there are more than just one lie going around about him and despite his fierceness as captain of the Cedar Rapids Raccoons, he has a gentleness and a caring nature you wouldn’t expect from a hockey player. And he cannot take Savannah out of his mind.

My dearest Lasairiona,

Being a big fan of your previous series filled with A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Alpha – men, having my ovaries exploding with each new book, I was both looking forward to this next series, but also a bit worried. Because after such a delightful series, how could *anything* be better than what I have read before? My expectations were so high that I thought they would be impossible to be reached.
But what on earth was I thinking, having even a tiny doubt about you and your wonderful writing skills???

I just loved how Justin is the total opposite of an Alpha. Even if we often dream about a man taking control, isn’t it that we also need the kinder, gentler men to sweep us off our feet?
And Justin did exactly that and even more!

Justin shows us that being an empath isn’t easy, feeling someone else’s emotions so deeply, feeling not only their happiness but also their pain and struggles.
I am not an empath myself, but I care deeply how everyone around me is feeling, so this book made me understand a little bit better how being an empath affects that person’s life.

But this book is so much more…

Who would ever think that a fear of flying would turn out to be something so hilarious for the readers, yet so swoon – worthy material! Seeing how Savannah is struggling during the flight was almost making me afraid of taking a plane again. And then to be forced to sit next to your sworn enemy, could things even get worse for her?
But Justin shows what a perfect gentleman he is, trying to help her and distract her, comfort her… *Tizi was swooning before anything actually happened!*

I could perfectly understand the dilemma Savannah was facing. She and Molly have been best friends since high school after Molly rescued her from an awkward situation. So when Molly caught Justin in a compromising situation, Savannah stayed and is still staying loyal to Molly. So no way Savannah would give in to her growing attraction to her sworn enemy!

If only that was the only problem Savannah was facing…
When we meet her, she made a terrible discovery that shook her ground. Now, as a bystander it’s easy to say that it isn’t that big of a deal, as she did have everything (it’s hard to say anything about it without giving away what the discovery is! 😊).
But how can anyone judge on how to feel if you aren’t in the same situation? And feelings for sure don’t always listen to reason, as they have a mind of their own.

While reading, I was blown away with Justin’s job. I found it both hilarious and also amazing to read that a man would be doing what is mostly expected from a woman. Now, don’t go thinking crazy things, it’s rather innocuous in a way, yet it left me flabbergasted in a good way.

It takes a while before Justin and Savannah finally get into some action. But while I couldn’t wait for that action, it didn’t bother me that it took so long. It only made it possible to understand the characters much better and fall completely and irrevocably in love with them!
When the action finally took place, I swooned how considered and determined Justin was to achieve his goal. He won’t settle for less than an amazing O from Savannah, even if it takes hours! If only all men would be as passionate as Justin!

Savannah and Justin are a match made in heaven, they both couldn’t find a person more perfect for themselves.
While obviously there is some friction between them, even after getting together, it fitted their character perfectly, the reason of the friction and the way they behaved afterwards.
And I found it a nice touch of this amazing, wonderful, talented author of even mocking a bit romance books, by refusing a third act break – up. Who could make up this stuff!!!

My dearest Lasairiona, you blew me away with the start of this new series. I devoured this book, I adored it, I wanted to read it all over again. And I don’t blame you at all for my lack of sleep, and when I did sleep, dreaming of finding my own Justin to my Savannah!

Oh heyyyyy, Lasairiona and your Cedar Rapid Raccoons series! It's so nice to meet you and this roster of characters. Can I just start by saying that I love Justin in all ways? The guy is... he's just so gosh-darn swoon-worthy! And quite unexpectedly so in the best ways. And Savannah, she's such a beautiful dynamo! What a pairing.

I have to start at the end because the ending of this book is like ultimate HEA goals. Hands down. I was just falling over myself in swoon-town at the end of this book, and maybe I had to swipe away a tear or two. I felt so satisfied at the end of it.

This book is well written, has wonderful characters, a fun and interesting setting as well as plot and storyline, such a sexy and amazing HEA, yet is compelling in the ways of the human heart and how we each have our challenges in life. This book comments in many ways about how life treats many of us differently and how our experiences shape us in the best and worst ways, how they dictate our decisions, and the choices that we make. And I found it both interesting and compelling to watch (read) the individual journeys of Justin and Savannah when it comes to their life's challenges, how that has shaped them and effects their decision-making - and then how that works when the two of them come together. At times it is heartbreaking and very compelling for the reader, yet it is bittersweet as well as just sweet too.

I found Justin's disposition to be quite refreshing. It's not always in this genre of contemporary romance, let alone college-based sports romance that we have a male lead character who's sweet and emotional like Justin. Don't get me wrong, he's still strong and dominant in all the ways that count - he has to be in order to be the captain of the hockey team after all. But I just found it to be so refreshing - and perhaps the little revelations about him helped me feel that way... I loved all of the revelations btw. Savannah is dealing with a lot when we meet her in this book, and we watch (read) her continue to deal with the aftermath, and her coming to terms with what has rattled the foundation of her life and all that it means. How this effects not just her life, but how it impacts her relationship with Justin is a bit of a rollercoaster, but it's not like a dramatic one where you feel like you're going to pass out from the intense pressure. It's really sweet and you root for them so hard as their story continues to unfold. And along the way, there's some great humor and wit - love the Bitches Brew and its crew! And then that ending... mmmm! That ending - it's just everything! Can't wait for book #2, which , BTW!!! Holy teaser for book #2, Lasairiona! Can I have it... now?

It's official Lasairiona McMaster has started a new series (of course she forewarned us it was coming) and I say goodbye to any productivity whenever release day arrives. I fell in love with Lasairiona with her Jeremy Lewis series and she has fast become one of my favourite authors. So of course when I got the chance to start her new series I jumped with both feet and I fell in love again.

This book is the first in the brand new 'Cedar Rapid Racoons' series, now we were teased about possible stars of this series in her novella 'Two for Tacos' so I was already pumped. This book centres on Justin and Savannah and is told of the course of 31 Chapters as well as an epilogue.
We first heard about Justin back in the Snow Pirates in passing mention due to his past connection with Molly Morrison (Two for Roughing). Justin is juggling many balls in this book being a hockey player, a student, a part time job and a romance author. He is also very in touch with his feelings. Readers get a real look at this when reading in his point of view.
Meanwhile our lead female character is Savannah, who was besties with Molly in High School. Not only that Savannah is book worm after my own heart. She is a very relatable character who all book lovers will adore. Admittingly her life is not like a romance book with a family secret being revealed and her body/heart lusting after the guy who cheated on her best friend in high school.
This is a slow burn, enemies to lovers romance that is easy to sink your teeth into. From the main characters 'trying' to deny the chemistry that is clear to the readers from the get go, to the funny moments and metaphors that long term readers of Lasairiona know and love her for.
Now no fear there are steamy scenes within this book and they are delicious as always. Especially when Justin is an empathetic character who wants to please Savannah in every aspect!
Something I adored about this book is when you are reading from Justin's point of view you find out just how in touch this guys is with his feelings. He isn't afraid of being the first one to fall in love, and he isn't afraid of telling the readers that there will be no 'third act break up'.
Overall this book starts this series off on a great foot and most definitely with a bang. I personally can't wait to read the rest of the series. They will all be added to my TBR and no plans will be made when it comes to release day.

I have to start by saying, I loved the Snow Pirates but the Raccoons have come in strong. I’m already loving this spin-off series. If you read Two for Holding, you’ve met Savannah and Justin through Molly.

Justin was Savannah’s best friend in high school’s boyfriend. Any friendship they may have had from high school is ruined. They have had nothing to do with each other since high school and Savannah will stick to the girl code for as long as possible. Some entertaining run-ins keep putting them in each other’s orbit. When Justin finds out that Savannah is trying to deal with a personal discovery that has left her questioning who she is, he steps in to be the person she can lean on. Savannah is hesitant to develop any kind of relationship with him, but he's hard to resist.

Savannah is such a fun character. She is sassy and witty and I loved her commentary. I laughed so much. Justin is slightly more serious but he also made me laugh. He’s not afraid of getting emotional and does quite a bit in the book. He gives all the vibes of a “cinnamon roll” without being a push-over. He's a genuine, empathetic, and thoughtful person. I loved their chemistry, dialogue, and inner monologues.

Book lovers will rejoice. You get an avid book reader and an indie author and so many “easter eggs” around the book world. I loved Justin’s way of addressing their relationship and deferring from the unpopular tropes.

There are heartfelt and emotional moments mixed in with a dose of spice and tons of lighthearted humor creating a refreshing and entertaining book.

I recommend this hockey romance if you love relatable characters who face real issues and authentic feelings. Justin will make you swoon, Savannah will touch your heart, and together they will not only make you smile but will have you laughing out loud.

This can be read as a standalone. As for me, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Justin and Savannah’s friends.

How can I convey just how absolutely phenomenal this book is without rambling? Im not sure I can, but I'll do my best to keep this short and sweet.

First, you need to understand, I have loved all of Lasairiona's books HARD, but this, this is my favorite book of hers so far. Yes, her other books are amazing too, but this one just hit me differently. These characters just felt different and I felt connected to them instantly. I just can't explain it. I was invested immediately. Justin and Savannah are everything I didn't know I needed in my life.

I absolutely loved the way Lasairiona wrote these characters and how she wrote this story. It was different than anything I've read. It was so funny and yet so heartfelt, and I couldn't put it down. I loved how these two just fit together and how their journey played out. I felt like I was right there next to them in every single moment, my elbows propped up on the table, folded hands under my chin, just watching the show and loving every single second of it.

I couldn't get enough of how Lasairiona wrote in the process of writing books and being an independent author into this story. I have been in awe of authors for a very long time because I know I could NEVER do what they do, and I'm so grateful that they share their wonderful gift with the world. They let us join them on these rides that their characters take them through during their writing process. We're all so very lucky. Thank you for entertaining us!

Well, Lasairiona started this new series out with a bang. This book is absolutely phenomenal, and I can't wait to read the rest of this series and see where all these interesting characters end up and find out who is behind that scandalous blog.

Lasairiona, you outdid yourself with this one. Love, love, love it! You are a true Queen!

Freezing the Puck review-SPOILERS

We have a new team, and a new swoon-worthy hockey player!

First of all, thank you so much to the author and her team for sending me an ARC of this fabulous book.

I absolutely loved this book, as I have with all of McMaster’s delightful hockey romances. Justin and Savannah are an enemies to lovers romance, with a little bit of hidden identity thrown in which adds a little sprinkle of fun.

One of my favourite things through the Snow Pirates series, and now carrying on into the Cedar Rapids series, is how emotional our heroes are allowed to be. Justin is empathetic to the max, not afraid of feeling his feelings, and writes romance novels! He is a cinnamon roll hero, and is both a stacked manly man, and a soft, caring man. And I love that.

Savannah is tough and stubborn, and has so much depth as a character. She’s in the middle of big emotional upheaval when we meet her, but she’s still so strong. I loved her journey through dealing with discovering who she is, as well as who she can be with Justin. He is exactly who she needs throughout it all.

Justin and Savannah together are so wonderfully supportive of one another. They understand one another’s baggage and insecurities, and are so ready to help one another through them. I absolutely love the fact that Justin refuses to let them come up against the misconceptions trope, and that particular scene was one of my favourites. And the SPICE! Y’all there are some seriously hot, squirmy moments in this book. McMaster always brings it with the spice and she has not failed us this time.

We got some great side characters in the book- I’m definitely hoping to see Athena get her own book, and with any luck the other de la Peña siblings too! It was also so lovely to see little cameos from our beloved Snow Pirates here and there. I can’t wait to see this series continue!

Freezing the Puck (Cedar Rapids Racoons #1) by Lasairiona McMaster is a contemporary new-adult enemies-to-lovers sports romance told in first person dual POV. The story follows the relationship between Justin Ashe, a college hockey player and indie author, and Savannah Bowen, a girl from his Minnesota hometown.

Justin was able to shake his bad reputation and start fresh when he went to away to college in Iowa. When he realizes that he and Savannah went to the same high school, he’s afraid that rumors from his past could get out and ruin his present. Back home, nobody ever believed him or even listened to his side of the story, and he’s afraid that history could repeat itself.

Savannah is attracted to Justin, but it doesn’t matter because she hates him for cheating on her high school best friend. But the more she sees him around, the more she struggles to keep hating him. Maybe he’s not the terrible person she thought. Maybe there’s more to the story.

I loved Justin and Savannah’s story. As characters, they were both likable, well developed, and relatable. I loved Justin! I loved his sweetness, his emotional intelligence, and how open he was about his feelings. Justin and Savannah were a great match for each other. They had common interests and great chemistry. Freezing the Puck was such a fun story and a great start to a new series. I’m looking forward to book two.

Racoon's Hockey is here, and the Hockey Romance fans will surely go insane for Freezing The Puck by Lasairiona McMaster- I give it 5 steamy pucks!

Justin and Savannah have some history to work through when they end up in their own re-meet cute time and again. Eventually the forced proximity, and Justin's genuine soul, breaks down Vannah's hesitation. Despite this family circumstances, failure to communicate, and fractured trust could have spelled disaster. Justin and Vannah, however, refuse to let themselves get in their own way.

I appreciated Justin's empathetic personality and Savannah's tendency to over think. Moreover, Justin's family situation is one so many can relate to but often get overlooked because of the appeal and ease of wealthy characters.

A male romance author MC, Enemies to Lovers, hockey, and no fear of breaking the rules? 🍆🔥📚🏒🥧(Take your time processing, I'll wait...) McMaster gave us a beauty with the first in the Cedar Rapids Racoons Hockey Series.

So, sign me up for UCR, I'm a Trash Panda fan in it for the long haul. 🦝
- The locations had me dying to get out to my own fave local spots, a book in hand for date night with my hubby.
- I'm dying to know what goes on at Book Club and who is going to implement what they learn from their new study material.
- Bacon (if you know, you know)
- McMaster boys are always unique her relationships heartfelt.
- Plus, we know from Two For Tacos that the de la Penas are going to be dtf when it comes to they're books (and I am all in for those cocky MFs already!).

Freezing the Puck by Lasairiona McMaster.

This was a first for me from this author and I loved it. I loved that it was a sport romance but I loved that these two had history it wasn’t an instant love romance which are so not very believable. This is Savannah and Justin’s journey and it is one you just have to read. It is fun and witty. You will absolutely love how funny and a little cooky that Savannah can be. Oh and I absolutely loved the cafe Bitches Brew I wish we had one where I live at that would be my new favorite coffee shop for sure. These two know each other well Savannah thinks she knows just who Justin is. She has an image of Justin that her friend left back in high school and like the best friend that she is she never questioned any of the events her friend told her so in her mind Justin is a cheater. Therefore she is going to stay away from him and hate him by default because of what he did to her friend. However years later and now they seem to be running into each other all the time and she can’t help but notice how well he has grown up. The more she sees of him the more her attraction is evident. But she must resist him after all he is a cheater. However there is so much more to Justin he is not who she thinks he is. He is so different from the person she had convinced herself he was. I loved this book it was fun to read and refreshing to see how the author wrote Justin to be strong yet digo for all the sport book boyfriends we are used to. Absolutely loved it and highly recommend

New series, new characters and a new team…. I love the anticipation of starting anew. But the first book in a series has a lot of pressure to bring, not only it’s own story but also the introduction to the new characters.

The author has done a great job on both counts with freezing the puck.
I loved Justin, he’s not like some other hockey jocks. He has a sensitive soul, he’s somewhat gentler than previous male characters from this author and it was a refreshing change to read. He carries a lot of pain from his past and also responsibility to succeed in his chosen career as well as on the ice.
Savannah knew Justin in high school and like everyone else she believed everything she heard regarding him….but what if they were all wrong?

This is a slow burn, which I love. There is a lot of inner dialogue which gives an opportunity for the reader to learn a lot about each character. I would have loved there to be more actual dialogue between the two main characters, I wanted more of them getting to know each other, the reinforcing of their chemistry in the beginning. That said, I really appreciate the realism this author brings to all her books. There is always an interesting storyline or subplot that generally tugs your heart or makes you think. This book is no different and it enhanced my enjoyment of the story.

I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the Raccoons and some more intriguing storylines from Ms McMaster.

I love taking a chance on new to me authors and then ending up loving the book as well? SCORE!! Here we have an enemies to lovers with a twist, and between all the banter, the connection and the chemistry, I was just glued to my kindle. This is definitely an author to watch out for!!

Justin (our H) had dated Savannah's (h) best friend back in high school, and everyone thinks that she cheated on her.. but she didn't. Which brings us to present day, where everyone in Justin's life that he cares about seems to think he did this awful thing, but nobody will really listen to his side of the story. And then there's Savannah -- the more she gets to know Justin, the more she realizes there is so much more to him than meets the eye, and she just can't imagine him doing what he did. She's trying to remain loyal to her best friend, while also falling in love with the one man who's off limits to her, and to say she's having a hard time balancing it all is an understatement. But when the matters of the heart are concerned, is there even a choice to make?

I loved this story so much!! I love the fact that Justin was the 'soft' one, and was an indie romance writer who just really wanted to do what he enjoys. He's honestly just the perfect hero; sweet, swoony, thoughtful, and delicious in every single way. Plus Savannah was an absolute HOOT. I just loved these two so much! I can't wait for more in this series!

Sweet, humourous, second chance

This is the first book I have read from Lasairiona McMaster, and luckily for me FREEZING THE PUCK is the first book in her new series Cedar Rapids Raccoons. It is the story of Justin Ashe and Savannah Bowen. Their story is a sweet, emotional, humourous second chance hockey romance.

Justin and Savannah were once friends, but that friendship was ruined when he cheated on her best friend. Now they find themselves attending the same college. Justin is worried as he was hoping for a fresh start, but with Savannah around he believes it won't be long before his past catches up with him.

I loved Justin, this was a guy who owned his emotions. He was always open and honest about them. He was such a sweetheart, and openly wore his heart on his sleeve. I adored Savannah too, and I could understand her initial hesitancy when it comes to Justin, I did enjoy watching her impression of him slowly alter. The way in which their relationship evolves is like a rollercoaster, an up and down ride that is both smooth and rough. They shared a wonderful chemistry, were perfect sweetness, and sublime together.

FREEZING THE PUCK was a fun, easy to read story that left me with a smile on my face. I look forward to reading more from this author. A recommended read.

Absolutely Brilliant!!!!
I loved Justin and Savannah, and I loved this story.
I am in complete awe of Lasairiona McMasters skilful writing,it flows effortlessly and is so emotional, funny and sweet.
I adore Hockey romance and this one is such a Fabulous read.
Justin and Savannah have history but not in the way you think, its by association,as Justin used to date Savannah's best friend. This was in High School and it ended badly with accusations of cheating and so Savannah does not see Justin in a favourable light.
Now its college and Justin and Savannah end up going to the same college in Iowa, and literally the past has come to haunt them both and initially they don't exactly get along.
But things take a turn and Justin and Savannah get close and realise that they actually do like one another and have things in common.
Justin is so swoon worthy romantic and sweet I love his emotional side and he is so caring and thoughtful.Savannah definately misjudged him.
Savannah has some issues she needs to deal with and I loved he way they help eachother with whatever they need.
I really enjoyed my time reading this book and I think I am going to become addicted to this series.
Because Freezing The Puck has impressed me and compelled me to want more from all of these characters, and this new world of college Hockey.
A Sensational story.
5 Stars.

Justin Ashe is someone from her past that she never really wanted to see again, he is the guy that broke her best friends heart, not to mention he's just a plain ol' jerk. But for some reason her head and heart don't agree on those terms... she's had a crush on him for years, even though he's the enemy! Now he's everywhere she goes, always trying to flirt with her, and always tempting her to cross lines she shouldn't.

Freezing the Puck is a wickedly entertaining enemies to lover story that is bound to leave you with a smile! I really enjoyed my time with these two, watching them dance around their feelings and one another, they put on quite a good show. Justin had a unexpected sweet side to him that I found to be quite charming, with him being a tough hockey player it was nice to see him be a combination of both. Savannah was equally wonderful, she was tough in her own right, but I also admired her for sticking to her guns, and making Justin work hard to earn her heart. They were a really likable and relatable pairing, and the story they had to tell left my heart skipping a beat! What a wonderful first time read, it was well written, captivating and good for the heart! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
