Michael Morwood raises questions of faith that are on the minds of many Catholics and other Christians today. While Church authority will not permit Catholic academics to raise or discuss many of these controversial topics publicly, Morwood boldly delves into the issues with clarity, courage, hope, and inspiration from his extensive experience in spirituality and adult faith formation.
There are many refreshing and stimulating ideas in this book. But it is lacking a proper balance between the favor it bestows on suggestions for change and the possibility of preserving the beauty and value that still lives in the traditions of the Church. There is a great need for reform of the feudal and uncharitable rules that have been mislabeled as truth and tradition. On the other hand, it would be tragic to fail to embrace and preserve the beliefs and practices of the church that are rooted in Love and call us to continuously move into closer relationship with our Creator. This book deserves to be read thoughtfully.
This book will challenge your beliefs about God. . .in a good way. While spending way to much time bashing the Catholic Church (and I'm not Catholic), the author laid out a much more accessible, compassionate, empowering, and intellectually honest God than I've ever considered.
