I’ve been loving these novellas by authors M.J. Rose and C.W. Gortner, both of who write historical fiction individually, and I adore those as well. The Heist is the conclusion of the three novellas, and it occurs one year after The Bait, the second book.
Ania has been hiding, planning her next move. There will be a heist, and Ania and Jerome will have to do all they can to stop it.
I loved the 1950s Hollywood setting. All the glitz and glamour and drama, too. There’s humor, excellent pacing, and precise writing to keep moving the story forward. I thought The Heist brought the storyline together to a satisfying conclusion, and it was such an exciting journey along the way.

I’ve really enjoyed this series of novellas, which started with The Steal and The Bait . In this book, Ania Thorne has been hiding as she plots her next move to try and take down the notorious jewel thief, the Leopard. And she’s figured the perfect bait—she’ll design special jewelry for the Oscar-nominated actress of a major film.
Jerome Curtis has been living a bleak existence in London, mourning the end of his relationship and the fact he threw away his career for the woman who abandoned him. A friend offers him a security job at her father’s movie studio, but unbeknownst to him, this job will put him right in the middle of Ania’s plan to trap the Leopard, who has gotten the jump on both of them before.
This is really a series you should read in order, but since each book is less than 200 pages, it’s not that huge of a commitment. I love the glamour of old Hollywood that runs throughout the series, as well as the relationships and characters.

It is hard for me to believe that the To Catch A Leopard series has come to a close, but I thought The Heist was the perfect way to end it. I have been a fan of M.J. Rose for quite some time now but hadn't read C.W. Gortner prior to reading this series. I think they make a great writing team, and I loved how seamless the story felt; you can't tell it is written by 2 authors. In this final installment, Ania is still on the hunt for her father while Jerome is kind of floundering, taking jobs that don't let him reach his full potential. That all changes when he gets the chance to go to LA and guard a famous movie star. And what would be more fun than having people from his past show up? Nothing I would say.
Just like the first 2 books in the series, there is plenty of action and being that this is a novella that means it basically flies by in a blink. Since I did it with the last 2, I had to listen to The Heist on audio, and appreciated they kept the same narrators (Chris Andrew Ciulla & Eva Kaminsky). Ciulla as Jerome and Kaminsky as Ania is basically a match made in heaven, and they are completely appropriate for their characters. Their narration is flawless as well, and if you can handle using a credit on Audible for such a short book (just over 4 hours on audio), I highly recommend it. If you enjoy historical fiction and heist stories with a dash of romance, this whole series is for you!

Jerome and Ania are in the United States now--Los Angeles, but they are not there together. It's been over a year since Ania disappeared. Jerome's life hasn't been the same. He has taken a temporary job guarding jewels that a famous actress will be wearing in Hollywood. He needed a change and to get out of London and this was it. He is not prepared to see Ania there.
I've enjoyed all three of these novellas, but this is probably my favorite. It was nice to wrap up the missing jewel story and their love story, too.

The Heist is the final, and satisfying installment in the To Catch A Leopard series.
What I loved:
✨1950s setting - The Heist is based in Los Angels during Oscar season with all the glitz and glamour of Old Hollywood.
✨Romance - Jerome & Ania 😍 Can it finally be?!?
✨Caper - The Leopard continually tries to outwit Jerome & Ania, packed with car chases, galas, and more hidden jewels.
I thoroughly enjoyed this glamorous, romantic caper series - The Bait, The Steal, and The Heist. You could easily read this novella set in one day, and I highly recommend reading this series in order.

I just love these novella mysteries put out by two of my favorite authors. Both these authors have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to writing a book. These mysteries that they've concocted are funny, fast paced and easy to read. Any reader would enjoy these lively novellas.
I'm unable to give plot points or synopses because it would ruin the other two installments of these books. I will say all three were exceptionally well done.

This is the third, and final, novella in C.W. Gortner and M.J. Rose’s To Catch a Leopard trilogy and this romantic caper was just as fun and thrilling as the first two have been in this series. These two authors, whose books I have read separately, really know how to collaborate to create fun, enjoyable tales.
I highly suggest reading this series in order. Each novella is quite short – just over 100 pages – and really provides the necessary background for what is the overarching thread in the entire trilogy, and what is the culminating thread of this latest installment. That’s not to say you cannot just pick this latest one up, but I really do think you will have a richer reading experience coming to this new one having already read the other two.
In this third installment, we meet up with Ania and Jermone about a year after last seeing them and this time we find them in Los Angeles – but they are not together. I’m not really going to go into plot details because I don’t want to spoil anything…I will just say that I love these characters and I love the character development we have seen over the course of this trilogy. I love having them in reunite in Hollywood. The glitz and glamour are so vividly drawn and the cat and mouse game that ensues provides just enough adrenaline-fueled moments of tension to get your heart racing.
This trilogy has been such a delight to read. It’s got just a little bit of everything to satisfy most readers – mystery, intrigue, romance, old-time glamour, and fun. While I am sad to see this series come to an end, I am hopeful that due to the success of the series, we might get lucky and see these authors collaborate again in the future! Wouldn’t that be amazing?

We pick up this fun cat-and-mouse story (or leopard) a year after book 2 ends (The Bait) with our star-crossed lovers, Jerome and Ania, meeting up by accident after being separated (Ania deliberately left Jerome and he can't stop thinking about her) at a Hollywood Awards event.
They end up working together to find The Leopard - that dastardly thief who won't be able to resist the lure of Ania's jewels (she is head of the famous Thorne Jewelers) to be worn by one of Hollywood's current "favored to win" actresses. The goal is to get The Leopard to steal the jewels and when he escapes - show Ania where he has hidden all of the loot he previously stole in Book One (The Steal) and Book Two (The Bait).
The series is fun - I said it before - it's like "The Pink Panther" meets "To Catch a Thief"- it's all old-world elegance and drama - a wartime detective, a beautiful jeweler, the ever-present sidekick and of course some sort of car chase.
Get all three and throw them into your beach bag for a great escape.

The Heist is the final volume in the trilogy of To Catch a Leopard series of novellas by C.W. Gortner and M.J. Rose. I really liked the first two volumes, would the final installment be as good as the first two?
This Hitchcock-like series comes to a satisfying conclusion with The Heist. First off, I loved moving the setting to Hollywood in the days before the 1960 Oscars. Jerome is hired as head of security for a small studio, who have a great chance of getting an Academy Award nod despite the fact that this is the year of Ben Hur.
Anna has been in hiding for the past year, planning her next move against The Leopard, the infamous jewel thief that just so happens to be her father, too. Her plan to trap him has inadvertently pulled Jerome into the scheme, and things did not end well the last time they saw each other.
The fact that this is a novella means the action is brisk and often, and this heist story with a dash of romance thrown in is just the thing. Considering the fact that each novella is around 200 pages, it’s not a great investment to read the trilogy, which I think is worth your while.

Jerome and Ania are fantastic characters to read about and I love how this final book takes them to Hollywood. Glitz and glamour ooze out of these pages and it may be my favorite setting of all of the books. The ending is satisfying although there’s just a small little piece I wish was different.
If you’re interested in a romantic caper novella series I highly recommend checking these out. I’m hoping the authors release something else together in the future.

The grand finale to the To Catch a Leopard series and the Heist starts roughly a year after the end of the Bait with Jerome working in London and the whereabouts of Ania unknown but it isn’t long before events conspire to bring our intrepid hero together once again with the vengeful heroine, this time in the glitzy setting of Hollywood.
I love this writing style of this duo. Together MJ Rose and CW Gortner’s words are so evocative it was easy to see this story play out in my mind as I read and personally I’m picturing Grace Kelly as Ania. Throughout the series, this story has taken readers from the glamour of the French Riviera, to the post war cities of Paris, Vienna and London before coming to a finale in the glitz of Hollywood and while I’ve absolutely loved this journey a part of me can’t help feeling slightly disappointed by the ending which just seemed ago fall a bit flat. I somehow expected more!
I love this writing style of this duo. This cover has such a great vintage look! The Heist is the third and final novella in the To Catch a Leopard series. This time the action mostly takes place in late 1950s LA around the time of the Oscars. Jewelry designer Ania Thorne is determined to finally catch jewel thief The Leopard after his heists in Cannes and Venice. She is joined by her former lover Jerome as the two work to find the missing jewelry.
This is a quick, fun series told in dual points of view and alternating chapters between Ania and Jerome. These two have an interesting dynamic with lots of opposites attract going on. This is a quick, fun series told in dual points of view and alternating chapters between Ania and Jerome. These two have an interesting dynamic with lots of opposites attract going on. The third and final novel in this trilogy follows Ania’s hunt for the Leopard, a cat and mouse game where everyone Ania loves has been hurt at this point. Jerome has seemingly moved on from Ania after she left him in the dust at the end of the last novel (so sad!).
However, next thing you know, poof, they are both in LA for another big “celebrities wear big jewels” event and their paths cross repeatedly.
I felt for Jerome and a little for Ania (that was more than the last novel). He was seemingly like a flag in the wind to her whims and I really just wished she’d move on past her dad’s shenanigans and stick around with Jerome who was much better for her. I enjoyed the supporting characters- they were a trip!
Start from the first novel if you want to read this series, it doesn’t hold as a stand-alone.

“The Heist” is the final book in this series. Ania and Jerome have separated, although they are still deeply in love with each other.
Ania has gone into hiding while Jerome has taken a job back in the States a job at a Hollywood studio, It’s the late 1950s and the studio-system has not completely crumbled.
However, Ania’s right hand man in her jewelry business has come to fetch Jerome. It’s time to confront the man Ania believes, no knows, who the Leopard s and is determined to bring him down. And if Jerome insists on getting the way, well, she cannot be held responsible.
I found the outcome of the cat-and-leopard game Ania is playing with the thief interesting and highly entertaining. The result was not as I had anticipated, it was much better.

The grand finale to the To Catch a Leopard series and the Heist starts roughly a year after the end of the Bait with Jerome working in London and the whereabouts of Ania unknown but it isn’t long before events conspire to bring our intrepid hero together once again with the vengeful heroine, this time in the glitzy setting of Hollywood.
I love this writing style of this duo. Together MJ Rose and CW Gortner’s words are so evocative it was easy to see this story play out in my mind as I read and personally I’m picturing Grace Kelly as Ania. Throughout the series, this story has taken readers from the glamour of the French Riviera, to the post war cities of Paris, Vienna and London before coming to a finale in the glitz of Hollywood and while I’ve absolutely loved this journey a part of me can’t help feeling slightly disappointed by the ending which just seemed ago fall a bit flat. I somehow expected more!

The Heist is the 3rd and final installment in To Catch a Thief series. Like the previous books, it also reeks of glamour and opulence, this time set in tinseltown Hollywood. Ania is still dead set in catching The Leopard by herself, even after what happened in Venice. She didn’t know that Jerome is now working as a security guard in one of the studios in LA. Of course, they ended up working together to trap the elusive villain. They even looped in Luke, who is my fave character! As much as I enjoyed reading this novella, I was a tad disappointed with the ending. I wanted more action and more interaction with The Leopard. Maybe because I waited quite awhile to reach book 3, so I wanted a more explosive conclusion to the trilogy.🤷🏻♀️ I’d be down to read book 4 if there will be one, because honestly, I WANT MORE from these 2 lovebirds!!!

I really liked this conclusion to this fun, fast paced caper trilogy!
This time, Ania is working alone to try and catch her father, the Leopard at an Oscars awards party. She didn't expect to run into Jerome, her one time lover, again but she does.
I liked the ending. I won't say anything that might spoil it but it wrapped up nicely and gave our characters great closure, I thought.

I'm only entering the third book of the series, because I really don't feel I should be counting non stand-alone books as reads towards my challenge. I thought the first book in the series began well enough, but then it didn't care for lust-to-love story between the two protagonists too much. Too soon and too cliche. The only thing I actually enjoyed were the descriptions of the jewelry & the thinking behind the design process.

I read the three books, The steal, The Bait and The Heist, one after the other. These are very short books, more like three parts of one book than actually three books. I like these books as they are easy reading, a combination of some suspense and some heartwarming events. I really like the characters, my favorite is Luke. And my guess is there is going to be a next book in the series.

This is the third and final book in this series. It was a very quick read. There was action, romance and plenty of suspense.
I won’t give it away but I didn’t really love the ending. I still had questions!
Altogether this was a very enjoyable series and quick reads! I loved these two authors individually and now I love them together! Great combination!

Really enjoyed this action packed, emotionally thrilling and heart racing adventure filled with witty and engaging charters, exciting twists and unexpected turns. An edge of your seat read from beginning to end.

Two stars, but rounding it up to three for the gorgeous Leopard jewelry set. For a story called 'the Heist' I was hoping for something much better planned and executed - also I wanted to see better teamwork and a better resolution. Dissapointing finish to what started as a great premise.

A great end to the series. I started this with an ARC of the first book and wasn't sure I'd like it. However, all 3 books of this series wound together well. I feel like the ending was a little rushed, but still happy with the outcome.
