První pravidlo náhodných známostí je mít v záloze únikový plán. Bez závazků. Bez vztahů. Šup sem, šup tam – a myslím to doslova.
A to druhé, méně známé pravidlo?
Ujistěte se, že onu náhodnou známost nezaměstnají jako koordinátorku vaší svatby. Jo.
USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Amazon Charts Bestselling author Penelope Bloom is taking her first flight into romantasy—and yes, there are dragons. After years of contemporary romance, she's temporarily trading meet-cutes for magical academies and coffee shops for castles that reek of blood. She promises the banter is just as sharp, but now it comes with deadly consequences.
Fun fact: “Penelope Bloom” started as a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the family dog, Penelope—never meant to be anything serious. But then the books took off, and the name stuck. Behind the scenes, Penelope Bloom is actually a husband-and-wife team. He handles the writing; she edits, helps with brainstorming, and runs the reader-facing side of things (like social media and messages). So if you’ve chatted with “Penelope” online, you’ve likely been talking to her—with the author chiming in whenever needed. Together, they’ve built the voice readers know and love.
Let’s just say that I had a full rant review written up, and I just couldn’t bring myself to post it. Because I like this author’s books – I’ve read ten of them – but this was BAD. Like, really bad. Like, I only finished it out of morbid curiosity bad. I’ll admit to being a little hesitant after reading the blurb, but every single one of my concerns came to fruition. So, if you’re at all nervous about the blurb, just wait for her next release and pretend this one never happened.
Essentially, the story follows Belle and Chris, two strangers who meet on a plane. Both of them are having stressful days and find the other attractive, so when their knees brush, it’s on. Soon (as in, within 5 minutes of meeting and with essentially no buildup), they’re heading into the bathroom to join the Mile High Club. Following their hookup, things get awkward (Chris puts on headphones and ignores Belle), and then become even more so when Belle realizes that she’s supposed to be planning Chris’ wedding (which she probably should’ve figured out ahead of time).
While this does have plenty of the quirky humor I love about the author’s work, it unravels quickly and often misses its mark. My disconnect was almost immediate. The circumstances surrounding their hookup felt slimy, the aftermath was disgusting, and I lost all hope of liking either character. As an example: immediately after getting off the plane, Chris proposes to another woman, while still smelling of the sex he just had with Belle, as she sits there stunned and pantyless watching the whole thing, unaware that he’s thinking about getting her naked again. There’s even an attempt to play footsie while his fiancée is around. So, yeah, not ideal. Things do improve in the back half, but I had already lost interest at that point. I mainly finished out of curiosity, and that didn’t even feel worth it. Sorry to say that there’s little about this one that worked for me. I appreciated receiving a free copy via Booksprout (and am voluntarily leaving a review), but this was a definite miss for me.
What do you do when your mile high hookup is your new job?
Belle is headed back to NYC with her tail between her legs after a disastrous wedding. One she planned. For her friend and former crush. Totally broken, her trip is looking up when her incredibly hot, and very familiar looking, celebrity seat mate arrives.
Who?
The hot hot hot Chris Rose, QB extraordinaire. Not that she realizes this yet.
The two of them click, then join the mile high club in the airplane bathroom.
What neither expects is what happens next on their arrival in NY.
Chris's brother Damon hired her to plan Chris's wedding to an IG influencer. A wedding she is currently unaware is completely fake.
But things don't go according to plan.
Much to Chris's delight because he has found a woman he wants to keep. Now to just convince her of that.
All the heat, humor, and feels you expect from a Penelope Bloom novel. AND we get some more time with Damon, Chelsea, and their adorable spawn.
I received a review copy from Booksprout. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This book is great! Any book that starts out with that kind of "bang" is a shoe-in for a wild ride. And what a wild ride this book is!
Bloom has become, to me, the author I go to for fun, overly developed characters. Don't you look at me sideways. These kind of characters work in her books. They add an extra flair to the story. There aren't many authors who can pull it off.
For fans of the "fake" trope, you most certainly need to get on board with Bloom's version of them. They are so much fun. I am not sure if these books are supposed to be spoofs with a hint of not-so-spoof, but that's the feel I get from them. (Sorry if this isn't the case, Bloom!) And it totally works for me. I find myself chuckling and shaking my head through most of these books.
This book is part train wreck and part light and playful. When I could see what was possibly going to happen next, I wanted to close my eyes while simultaneously excited for it to go where I thought it was going. These two characters and their explosive chemistry are a recipe for a lot of fun...
I definitely recommend this book and this series. It's so much fun with just a hint of seriousness.
Nemám v podstatě nic, co by mi vadilo. Pokud do toho jdete s tím, že jde o jednoduchý příběh na odreagování a chcete se pobavit, vřele doporučuji sáhnout po této knize.
Chris & Belle’s Steamy Romance Is Light & Playful! Zany Humor & Laugh Out Loud Moments Abound As The Troublemaking NFL Quarterback Finds Himself Hooked On His Wedding Planner. Don’t Forget To Download The Free Bonus Scenes.
This is book two in My (Mostly) Funny Romance series and is a spin-off of My (Mostly) Secret Baby, which is Damon Rose and Chelsea Cross’s story. Damon started Rose Athletic Representatives in NYC to help save his younger brother from himself. Between the antics that have Chris Rose floating from crisis to crisis and his naivete about the business, Chris’s career longevity and future security are constantly in doubt. Hence Damon stepped up to ensure that his brother’s standing as the most famous and successful QB in the league remains in tact.
Here Damon’s brother Chris gets his own story with Belle. Damon and Chelsea are now married, and their daughter Luna, six, has been in Damon’s life for one year. Don’t forget to download the free bonus scenes via the link at the back of the book!
Belle Waters leads a safe life. She has worked hard to make her wedding planning business a success. Though she is from New York, her job has had her travelling across the country for the past few years. Everything she worked so hard to build and achieve is on the verge of disappearing, however, thanks to one jealous bride – Shelby. Belle’s long-time friend and childhood crush Lance Sunderland, a successful attorney and sought-after bachelor, had decided to settle down and had asked Belle to plan his nuptials. The Texas wedding was a huge boom to Belle’s business until it went bust as accusations began to fly. Belle’s professional reputation in tatters, she is high-tailing it home to New York.
Chris Rose leads a life at the mercy of his boyish impulses. He still cruises from crisis to crisis, and his brother Damon is desperate to save his career. Chris’s contract is almost up. If he is perceived as too unpredictable, he may be deemed too risky to sign in spite of his stats. In a last ditch effort to present a more stable version of Chris, Damon has arranged a fake engagement and marriage for him with a failed social media influencer. Chris just has to keep the charade alive for a few months, until his contract is finalized. Chris has never met Mindy before, but he follows his brother’s orders. The idea of behaving for a few months has him nervous, though, and he fears he won’t last. His experience has taught him that it is easier walk away when things get tough since so many women wait on the sidelines for a chance with him. He has also learned to appreciate normal. Celebrities and influencers inevitably want something from him and it always ends up with him getting the short end of the stick. The idea of being taken off the market and spending time with Mindy, an influencer, is not exactly exciting. When he sees the beautifully normal woman seated next to him on his flight from Texas back to New York, he cannot help but indulge in one last bang while he still has the chance.
Chris and Belle are both vulnerable when they sit next to one another on that fateful flight. Although their chemistry is incredible, their futures are uncertain. Neither looks beyond the comfort they can offer one another in flight, and neither puts the pieces together that might have led them to realize that their goodbye would be short-lived. When Belle meets Chris in the offices of Rose Athletic Representatives, they both feel the burn of deception and betrayal. Their outrageous banter and insane chemistry keep things interesting as they play their parts. Chris is absolutely hilarious and appears irredeemable. His gradual transformation from bumbling playboy to devoted beau is highly entertaining. Belle has just been burned and has thus decided to steer clear of men. Her battle is largely with herself – and letting in someone as unpredictable as Chris defies all logic. Her reactions to Chris’s craziness keep things light and playful. The couple may start out hot and heavy, but they have a lot of work before they earn their happy ending.
Chris and Belle’s steamy romance is light and playful as the troublemaking NFL quarterback finds himself hooked on his wedding planner. Zany humor and laugh out loud moments are found from beginning to end. The story is nicely written. The plot is fairly simple. The characters are nicely developed. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Chris and Belle, with one chapter in Damon’s POV. I rate this book four stars.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
OH MY GOD!! I FLoved this book! I was dying for Chris's book since book one, I just knew he was going to be fun, but I was so unprepared! This book was so Freaking Wonderful! Gah! It was hilarious like I'm talking pee yourself funny! Chris is a force to be reckoned with and Belle is probable the only girl that can handle him! I loved this book from start to finish! It was so dang addictive, I swallowed it whole in just a few hours. I couldn't stop reading, I laughed so much I know I gave my abs a workout. Everything was perfect, from their first meeting to the events that led to their fake wedding! I was rooting for them from the start! These two have sooooo much chemistry, it was a very steamy read! I'm still dying over the tarantula! Chris is dangerously charming and such a child! Belle didn't know just how much she was needing him! "Beauty and the dumba33". this was such a fun read! It was also pretty romantic and leaves you all sweet and smilley! I will forever love this couple! Another all-time favorite funny read for me!
Okok so I started the audio book and was like eh not feeling it but since I was sick I figured I’d give it another shot. Lord help me because dare I say I liked it more than the first book?!? We love an enemies to lovers sure but a marriage of convenience, mutual pining, AND dare I say my new favorite himbo…yeah this one wins. Also totally not biased but our heroines name is Belle so I knew she was going to be fine 😮💨🤌🏼
It was so bad, I want to give you a 0. But, that’s not possible, so I give you a 1.
This book had potential. It was wasted by like 25% in though. The plot was interesting and dramatic, but it my god. The characters. Awful. The writing. Oh my god. It quickly went from a dwindling 3 star to a 2 star to a non existent star. Here are some of my rage points:
1) the MMC unironically calls his love interest “wifey.” Oh my god I fucking wish I was kidding I literally gagged and cried
2) the MMC (Chris) was terrible. He was childish, unfunny, bland, lacked flavor, ANNOYING, and had the overall personality of a middle school boy. The “jokes” he made gave me second hand embarrassment. Even I wasn’t that cringy in middle school, and he’s a full grown adult acting like that? Pls. Like the whole pickle joke thing???? Goodnight.
3) Chris and Belle weren’t even in love !!!! These two main characters had nothing going for them. ALL CHRIS DID WAS SEXUALIZE HER. HE FUCKING MADE UP THE WORD DICK-OCRACY AND DICK-TATORSHIP BC OF HER. I wanted to claw my brain out I actually got so mad how much LACKING chemistry and emotion these characters had. Chris couldn’t go a chapter without sexualizing Belle or genuinely pissing me or her off. Belle wasn’t special in any way, but I didn’t mind her. But I wish she stood up for herself!!!! You deserve better!!!! Their “love” stemmed out of no where and all the important development that should’ve been happening meshed into absolute BLEH.
4) I listened to this through audio book. Never again. Maybe it’s just this book? Maybe it’s all books? BUT THE FUCKING INTIMATE SCENES. I had to hear a MAN in my EAR say the word COCK in a SUGGESTIVE MANNER. I wanted to off myself. Genuinely I gagged and had to close my eyes and take a few breaths. Maybe audio books aren’t for me because it was either me cringing at the intimate scenes or zoning out at everything else. Omg I cant especially the man narrator was so….bsjxkdkxnd his voice was awful I cant.
Anyways yeah. Bad. Rly fucking bad. But, but, but, as always, here are a few disclaimers: a) I love reading. Meaning I hate when I hate books. But it’s bound to happen and I’m allowed to express this hatred because it’s my honest feelings about this book. b) I have nothing against the author or people who enjoyed this book! I personally just don’t click with it. I appreciate and value authors a lot, so Penelope Bloom bless you and have a great life.
Okay, so I typically don’t give a write-in review and just stick to the stars, but I so thoroughly enjoyed this book that I just couldn’t help myself. I can honestly say that I loved everything about this book. The humor was off the charts amazing, and the chemistry between the two main characters, Chris and Belle, was written perfectly. I’m writing this review at 4am because I stayed up all night reading this novel to completion (no pun intended). I have read many books with a take on the fake-marriage trope, but this one takes the cake. I have read books by Penelope Bloom before and I have always enjoyed them, so I knew that I would like this one too, and boy, was that an understatement. I have gotten so used to being at least a little bit disappointed in some aspect of a book (typically the guy tends to be a bit of an irredeemable ass and the heroine forgives him too easily), but Chris was laugh-out-loud funny, sweet, and not afraid to share his feelings. Aside from his obvious humor, I absolutely adored Chris’s COMMUNICATION! He didn’t jump to conclusions not once and rather talked it out, showing that even though, at times he had a tendency to be a tad immature (in the best way), he knew how to be more mature than most when it came to dealing with what really mattered. Belle simply complemented him perfectly and where she lacked the ability to use comedic relief at times, Chris made up for it in spades. They were the best combination of serious and fun, making a great love story. I’ve not one bad thing to say about this story and if I could give it more than five stars, believe me, I would. If you’re on the outs about whether or not you should get this book, let this be a sign telling you that if you want a heart-warming and hilarious read with an amazing happy ever after, YOU NEED THIS BOOK! Okay, I’m on to the next book in the series, as I enjoyed this one so much, who needs sleep anyway? Wish me luck and thank you Ms. Bloom, as you have raised my spirits IMMENSELY🙈✨
You mix together a plane ride, two strangers and one unforgettable moment, things like this only happen in the movies right?! Let’s meet the two strangers, shall we?
Chris is an athlete who is in dire need of saving his football career. He is being taken off the market and getting “married.” That is why Belle is sitting across the table from him now. She is the wedding planner. Okay, it’s a little awkward sitting face to face with the person you shared that awesome moment on the plane. When the bride-to-be walks into the office, that is when things become very awkward.
When the bride-to-be no-shows to everything planned, Chris calls on Belle to fill in for her. It doesn’t take a genius to see the chemistry between them. The media puts a little shocking spin of an exposed surprise, but Chris quickly makes an announcement, one that is even more shocking and juicy.
Memories of the moment on the plane, and very strong desires lead to acting on the urges and feelings. One of them runs hot and cold, and one of them tries hard to keep things growing stronger. The next twist appears, this one in the form of the person behind the insecurities, the very reason for the fiasco and above all the one responsible for Bella’s broken heart. Chris sees this person around Bella and is not sure what happens, but he starts acting out.
Things continue to move forward, when an injury draws all emotions to light. It also leads to secrets and reasons being shared from both Belle and Chris, telling all and bringing them to the very point where nothing will make this be a fake marriage in any way. No there will be nothing make-believe or fake about these two and their marriage and their happy ever after.
Throughout this book, there is some mention of characters from book one, as well as a lot of laughter, shaking your head, a little frustration making you want to shake them until they can see straight, and an all around great journey to take. So much to read and enjoy!!
This is another great humorous love filled story about Chris a NFL quarterback we meet in the previous story. Chris is a man who is constantly getting himself into trouble and believes living for the unknown and fun that has gotten him into trouble that his agent/brother Damon comes up with a plan to show him as an adult who is settling down and plans to get fake married. Belle is a wedding planner who is running away from a disaster from planning her childhood friend, Lance’s wedding when the bride tells stories about her and destroys a day that should have been a beautiful one with bringing her success for her business. While flying to NY to plan a wedding for a famous person she meets one handsome man who shows her interest and they join the mile high club even though she has sworn off men. When Belle makes her way to her appointment she is behind Chris’s car the entire way until they both end up in the same room do things get very awkward. Belle is lead to believe Chris is getting married for all the right reasons and feels bad about having her quickie with Chris. When the woman who was hired comes in Chris plays it like its real so when the decisions are being made the fiancé is to busy to meet Belle and Chris. These two have a beautiful connection that they try to fight so when the fiancé is found to be cheating Chris uses it to his advantage and says Belle is his fiancé. Belle makes a deal with Damon and Chris and plans a wedding to remember and Chris has some trouble with his coach that he may lose his career but he is all in to show Belle that what they have is real and goes all in. Belle has a frustrating and fun time getting to know Chris and plan her fake wedding that along the way she finds love. These two realize what they have and all they have to do is take the chance at love and find where all the pieces fall is one wonderful crazy love story. Will they be facing a wedding with a real happily ever after?
My (Mostly) Fake Wedding is the second book in the My (Mostly) Funny Romance series, but could be read alone. Belle is running from a professional disaster and into Chris’ arms in an airplane, right before she finds out she’s his wedding planner. Chris is hiding a secret to save his career, but can’t help himself from wanting Belle. When chaos happens and roles change, a wedding is still going to happen, but will they be facing real feelings with a real happily ever after?
What a fun book that left me with the best feel-good, heart warming experience! I loved Belle and Chris together! There’s so much tension between them that you can feel from the very beginning. A battle of wits, of the head versus heart, of adding trust into the mix, this all described the pages of this book. Add in a bunch of humor, steamy scenes, budding romance, with a bit of drama, and this book just has it all! Belle is determined and a little stand-offish at times, but I liked how she slowly warmed up to Chris and let him into her heart. It was fun to see her version of happiness shift and include more things than just a successful career. Chris was probably the best character in this book! A little kooky, a little childish, a whole lot of sexy, Chris was a breath of fresh air when it came to a romantic interest. I loved his quick wit and banter skills, and I loved how he slowly shifted from a silly guy never taking anything serious into falling heels over head in love with Belle! So fun! There’s little bits of drama here and there with their careers both on the line and ex’s and whatnot, but the focus of this book is firmly set on the relationship that develops between Belle and Chris. I really enjoyed this book and am already excited for the next book from Ms. Bloom!
The My Mostly series is one of the funniest rom coms that I have read! This is book follows the story of Chris who is a hotshot NFL quarterback who is goofy as all get out but hot and sweet at the same time and his suffering brother who has made it is mission to help his brother stay on top of the football world.
Looking at the end of his contract, Chris has a less than stellar personal reputation, which can have adverse consequences on the team as a whole. Although Chris is good at what he does his personal life is overshadowing his professional life and with the end of his football contract just around the corner his brother Damon has to, once again, find a way to pull his fat out of the fire until he is able to secure him a new contract... that is if his brother can behave himself. Chris is not a bad guy he just has so many options open and available to him, and he is so goofy, he can be his own worst enemy.
Belle is a straight laced hard working woman who works hard to make a wedding day dreams come true. Due to a jealous hag everything that she has worked so hard for is in danger of going up in smoke when her professionalism is in question and her reputation is trashed to any and all potential clients leaving her in a professional nosedive causing her to take some time to go home and regroup.
A hot hook up, crazy chemistry and a hunger that will not be denied can these two from opposite worlds make it work? The characters and the zingers kept me in stitches while the chemistry and heat gave me all of the feels. I absolutely love this series!

Penelope Bloom is funny as hell. Her characters are for sure. In this book, Belle is the more serious heroine while Chris is the epitome of a comedian. A child in a man's body, equipped with abs, a pretty face, a big... ego (wink wink) and humor of a very horny teenager. But the contrast works for them well.
Chris finds himself having to pay for his wild ways with a necessary engagement to a random woman in order to save his football career. And his instant attraction to his plane seat buddy is the perfect way to start his celibacy. One last time before he needs to 'sheath his sword'. Belle is all for it despite the trouble she and her business are in that made her swear off men. Chris is her one last fun so why not join the mile-high club with a man she won't see again? Except, five minutes later he's proposing to a girl named Mindy and she is to plan their wedding which is to be the event to save her business.
Things don't go at all like they're supposed to. Belle is overthinking every step she takes while Chris is enjoying himself profusely, throwing immature jokes and dad jokes, and NOT fighting hard-ons. Plans go awry again and again and when it's the time to take this charade down the aisle, there's more than business between them.
And now, after it's clear, I've enjoyed this book very much, without any interruptions (cough, Lance, cough) a quote from Chris that shows only a tenth of his hilarity and genius.
She gave me a wry look. “Want to know a secret? It’s you. Against my better judgment, you are the thing that gets me going. In a boat. In a moat. In a plane or on a train.”
“Don’t quote Shakespeare to me. You’ll get me all hot and bothered.”
Ahhh, my kind of book! Filled with laughter and love, it doesnt get any better than that!
Chris Rose is an NFL quarterback whose brother, Damon Rose of Rose Athletic Representatives, is trying to clean up Chris’ image before he destroys his career. Chris is a playful troublemaker who acts like a big kid and gets himself into questionable situations. So they decide on a fake engagement to show he has settled down, at least until the contracts are signed.
Bella Water is a wedding planner who needs a well-known client to strengthen her business’ image after a scandal almost ruined it. She is on her way to meet her newest client when she and Chris end up sitting next to each other on the plane to New York. Chris sees this as his last chance for a one-time fling before he gets “engaged”, so they join the “mile high club”, knowing they won’t run into each other again.
Imagine the shock when Bella realizes she will be planning Chris' wedding! But she doesn't know the wedding is fake and she can’t afford to turn the client down. Chris actually felt something special for Bella and doesn’t want to lose her. He needs to convince her to be his, but he may have burned that bridge! How can he romance Bella with all eyes watching the newly engaged “happy couple”?
This is a story where the reader can chuckle at the approaching train-wreck where Chris might just get what he has deserved for his dubious actions. Grab your copy and see if Bella can forgive him or if he messed up one too many times!
Příběh vypráví story o svatební koordinátorce Belle a hráči amerického fotbalu 🏈 Chrisovi. Dvojice se potkává v letadle 🛫 na cestě do New Yorku 🏙, trochu si užije 🍆 a .... no po přistání se každý vydá svým taxíkem 🚖, ale stejnou cestou. Právě Belle má být koordinátorkou Chrisovo falešné svatby 💒. Trocha chemie ❤️🔥 tvrdohlavost Chrise a shoda náhod 🤪 a z Belle se namísto koordinátorky stává budoucí nevěsta 👰♀️. Vtipné scénky, sexy scénky - já to žeru. Penelope Bloom mě vždycky baví👍. Někdo to nazve odpadem, já to nazývám božím odpočinkovým čtením.
Z téhle série "Komických románků" nás ještě čeká 1️⃣ knížka, která zatím v češtině 🇨🇿 nevyšla. Mohla bych si ji přečíst v angličtině 🇺🇸, ale zrovna u Penelope mě docela baví česká verze a různé výrazy - hlavně "frnda" 😀viz. Moje oblíbené hlášky 🤦♀️
Já knížce prostě musím dát 5 ⭐️ Bavila mě určitě více než Utajené dítě 👶.

This series is exactly what I didn't know I needed this year! I thoroughly enjoyed Penelope Bloom's Objects of Attraction series, and the My Mostly Funny Romance is in Kindle Unlimited, so it was a no-brainer to give it a shot! My (Mostly) Secret Baby was awesome, and I liked My (Mostly) Fake Wedding even more! It's a steamy, funny, breath of fresh air.
It's a romantic comedy with just the right balance of real problems and easy resolution of said problems, all delivered with levity. It is all warm and fuzzy with a few surprising twists that read as interesting, not angsty. I also loved Chris and Belle! Chris is a more down-to-earth version of Will from Her Cherry, and he was so easy to cheer for, and Belle is smart, witty, capable, and doesn't take any shit, despite the drama she's running from.
Finding love without looking! This is about Belle and Chris. Belle is a wedding planner and she just left Texas after the scene that her best friend, Lane’s, wife made of her being in love with him in front of everyone. Although it wasn’t a lie because they have been best friends forever, he never knew how she felt for him and once he discovered her feelings he asked for a divorce and went on the search for her.
Chris on the other hand meets Belle on the plane ride from Texas to NYC; however, he is on his way there to sign his life away to a fake engagement that his brother is cooking up for him in order to get another contract secured in his NFL career. The meeting between these two is a hoot as they both need to let out some steam!
Well that is where the story starts as Belle is on her way to meet a client about a wedding that will be lavish and will help her career, unfortunately, she doesn’t’ know who this is until she gets there and guess who??? Of course, all of Penelope’s stories have a little bit of everything but this one is hilarious as Chris is all man on the outside and boy in the inside – he makes this story what it is AWESOME!

Belle is a wedding planner and after is horrific mishap at her previous event she heads to New Yok for a new client. While on the plane she goes over her list of what she will and will not do as a sexy stranger sits down beside her. Chris is attracted to the beautiful woman beside him and knows that this will be his last chance to be with someone he wants before his world is dictated for him. So he flirts with Belle and soon they end up in the bathroom for a heated moment together. Once they leave the airport neither expected to see the other again. But in a twist of fate Belle ends up walking into a room where Chris is the groom of the client she is planning the wedding for. When Chris's "fiancé" gets caught with a man he tells Belle the truth that it was a fake relationship to help his career and soon he draws Belle into his life with the same offer. What happens when real feelings become involved? Will Belle and Chris see they have something serious together?
This is a great story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I went pretty far into the book, just hoping it picks up. And considering it had better ratings than the other books of the author(which I didn't love and was hoping this book would change my opinion of her), I was fairly optimistic. But I realised, Penelope Bloom just CAN'T do insta-love well...the have-sex-within-5-mins-of-meeting thing is done INCREDIBLY poorly, both in this book and another one of hers I had read just a few days back(I think it was the 1st book of this very series). I couldn't buy their chemistry AT ALL. It was incredibly unrealistic in the sense that, no couple who has their inception like that will ever last long term.
The heroine came off as an idiot most of the time, but at least the hero wasn't a total cardboard cutout, zero-personality-having waste of space like his brother had been in that book. So, an improvement I suppose? I really need to stop reading this author's books. The blurbs and covers always make me super hopeful, and I inevitably end up disappointed. What's the point of semi-knowingly increasing negative ratings on a hard-working author's project?
The only parts I liked were some of the humorous parts. Figured after saying all the negative stuff, I should at least end on a positive note.
A hint of Chris in the previous book doesn't nearly prepare you for what's to come, and that seems to be even more true for Belle. Both meet on a flight when taking certain personal oaths but having just enough interest to go out with a bang this one time. It's not until they begin their working relationship that it suddenly changes direction to taking over as his fake bride-to-be so the press doesn't find out. Chris is a hot manchild who has way too much fun pushing Belle and her boundaries while slowly and unwillingly falling for her. Belle tries her best to remain professional but we all know that can't last. Loving all of Penelope's writing I knew it would be impossible not to love this book, and girl did not disappoint. Chris' character is capable of getting you all hit and bothered while making you laugh at the same time that I don't see how you couldn't fall for him. If you don't, that's a shame for you, not me. Great escape and a fun ride with wedding vows that will make you hope you have or will find this unicorn of a man. I'm a long time fan of this author as I enjoy her witty, humorous writing style that allows her main characters to poke fun at themselves. I thought I would be ok with Chris acting the way he did because his relationship with Mindy was totally fabricated, but it really didn't excuse the way he dismissed Belle after their OTT hookup on the plane, pretty much treating her like dirt. Added insult to injury as he proposed to Mindy in front of Belle! I mean who does that and ends up being the hero of the story? Ugh! He may have known it was all a farce, but it didn't stop him from making Belle the other woman, and having her go through trysts that pretty much degraded what they really had. By the time they switched so that Belle became the fake bride, Chris still hadn't a clue in being honest with himself or Belle and it took Damon to slap him upside the head before he decided it was real. Duh. Still loved the writing style and the way the story flowed. I just didn't like this couple as much as her MC's in her other books.

How I feel about this book is all jumbled in my head. It intrigued me. The H was being portrayed as this playboy or someone who's never serious about anything - but he's supposedly a person who's hardworking (NFL player) and he takes his job seriously deep down where it counts. Well, I did see some of that but he really takes the man-child thing a bit too far for my taste. Though I like how he's ready to try a relationship with the h halfway through the story.
The h, on the other hand, I couldn't really get a handle on. Her "scandal" wasn't clearly explained until halfway through the story. I didn't understand why it was a mystery at the beginning. Plus, she seemed like a person who couldn't make a decision. Or too afraid to make a decision. Or something. I didn't like her, tbh. I tolerated her, wanted to shake her a couple of times. I liked the man-child more than her. He seemed more in tune with his feelings than she was. And the scene at the wedding with Lance? That was just off. Did it had to happen just to make her realize how she felt? Sigh. This is a miss for me.
This book wasn’t quite as good as the first one in the series, but it was funny and cute. I didn’t have that same “can’t put it down” feeling though.
In this book, Chris is about to be kicked off his football team and Damon sets him up with a fake marriage to help keep him on the team.
Chris is a big man-child. Everything is a joke, except for his feelings for Belle. He needs to come to his senses and tell Belle how he really feels before it’s too late.
Belle is a wedding planner who was recently humiliated at a wedding she was planning for her childhood sweetheart. She signs on to help plan Chris’ wedding, but can’t set aside her feelings for him.
Lots of great scenes in this book! From the mile high club walk of shame to the flower garden in Europe, I enjoyed so much of this!
If you’re looking for the same level of sex as the first book, I think you’ll be disappointed. I felt like the first book had more/better sex scenes, but this one had more humor.
Give this book and series a try. It’s a solid pick for your next reading indulgence. Happy reading y’all!!
