Welcome to the Barks & Beans Cafe, a quaint place where folks pet shelter dogs while enjoying a cup of java...and where murder sometimes pays a visit.
Join siblings Macy and Bo Hatfield as they sniff out crimes in their hometown...with plenty of dogs along for the ride! The Barks & Beans Cafe cozy mystery series features a small town, an amateur sleuth, and no swearing or graphic scenes.
Heather Day Gilbert, an RWA Daphne du Maurier Award-winning author and 2-time ECPA Christy Award finalist, enjoys writing contemporary mysteries/psychological thrillers and Viking historicals. She brings authentic family relationships to the page, and she particularly delights in heroines who take a stand to protect those they love. Avid readers say Heather's realistic characters—no matter what century—feel like best friends. When she's not plotting stories, this native West Virginian can often be found hanging out with her husband and four children, playing video games, or reading Agatha Christie novels.
Whether it’s a flea market, a haunted hayride, or a cavern tour, there doesn’t seem to be any location where coffee shop owner and amateur sleuth Macy Hatfield can’t find a chilling mystery. But with the help of her brother Bo, quirky friends, and her faithful Great Dane, she’s always more than equipped to face down criminals, crooks, and caffeine-deprived customers.
The three cozy mysteries in this set will charm and perplex you in equal measure as you puzzle over classic Whodunnit-style mysteries with Macy, Bo, and their furry friends.
If you love a cozy mystery centered around a cute cafe with dogs and coffee, you'll love this series. Bo and his sister Macy are partners in work and solving crimes. Wonderful characters and story lines. I would definitely recommend!!
Macy's brother, Bo, is ex-DEA and her boyfriend, Titan, still works for them. Bo retired as CEO of a coffee company and turned their family home into a cafe and dog part that showcases dogs from the local shelter. Macy heads the dog portion and Bo heads the cafe. This is a cozy mystery series, so naturally there are murders, but at least Bo, Titan, and the local detective have the background to solve them. What's really great about the series is that the killers are often not who you think, which is a welcome change.
