This is a quick read that will have you at the edge of your seat. It follows a group of hackers that are on a mission to save a young teenage boy from life in prison after having hacked NASA. He was curious kid that didn't break any rules or laws besides hacking into NASA. Tonto and his group were hired by a woman that wanted them to hack the FBI to get rid of any evidence of the kids hack on NASA. This had tension and twists I didn't see coming, it had me hooked! W.A Pepper did an amazing job at not making the story feel rushed and still added a ton of details that added so much to the story and character development. Definitely recommend if you like quick and fast passed book with great plot twists!

Thank you to W.A Pepper for sending a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

DoGoodR by W.A. Pepper is a thriller prequel that follows a hacker named Tanto, who, along with a couple fellow hackers, has been hired by a woman claiming to be the sister of the hacker, DoGoodR, to destroy the evidence that had landed him behind bars. Tanto and his friends Squirrel_Lord and Mane-Eac go on a mission to free this young hacker, but as they get further into the job, things start feeling off to Tanto. Accelerated deadlines, their fellow companion's incompetence, and sheer bad luck have the gang questioning their odds. Will they succeed in saving their young comrade, or is it all just a cleverly arranged trap as they fear?

This suspenseful book was riveting. It really drew me in. It hooks you from the beginning and has you on the edge of your seat till the end. It’s a nice little short read if you're looking for something to fill a little time in your reading schedule. Despite its size, though, it doesn’t skimp on the thrills. I loved Mane-Eac. She was a strong female character who didn't let her fellow male hackers push her around, and I appreciate that alpha woman's presence. Actually, all the ladies were pretty strong, some scarily so.

I felt the book could use some editing with how the chapters are broken out. With a short novel, it can be hard to get all the information a reader needs at times. There are a lot of flashbacks in this story to make that happen. While they were necessary to give you the backstory, I felt saying the character was brought back to the present each time wasn’t necessary. Those things aside, the story moved quickly, and the characters gave readers all the information at just the right time to provide suspense from start to finish.

DoGoodR is a page-turning technothriller and prequel. It made me consider reading the others in this universe. If you love a good hacker thriller, I recommend this. The fast-paced action and great characters made this a great read.

The plot twist at the end was great & made you think about everything you had read before it.

If you enjoy getting revenge or computer hacking-this is the perfect book for you. I really enjoyed this & look forward to reading more by this author.

This was a quick read and different than anything I’ve read. I enjoyed it. I did get a little lost in some of the jargon at times. I am anxious to read the next one. I expect it to be even better.

First of all, I was a beta reader for this book. It is a well paced thriller, that keeps the reader engaged throughout. The characters are well thought out and interesting. I first met Tanto, the lead character, during my beta read of You Will Know Vengeance: A Tanto Thriller. He is a skilled hacker and follower of Bushido, "a moral code concerning samurai attitudes, behavior and lifestyle". The plot combines tension and suspense with a bit of humor. The disclaimer warns against several dark topics, but I did not experience any of them when reading the book - just enjoyed it.

Good prequel to hacker Tanto

Liked Tanto, hacker, and Bushido warrior all in one. Liked the background about Tanto and how he gets to the hack with Mane-Eac. He has to deal with Michelle, the Fed posing as the jailed hacker's friend; outsmart her to get them free. Nicely written story; hacking and Bushido code work hand in hand for Tanto.
Enjoyable book.

I loved this story so much and can’t wait to read the next Tanto adventure. It was smart, fast paced and totally stuck out to me. I even felt like I learned some things while reading. It had a smooth, well written and sometimes delightfully funny flow. I highly recommend it for lovers of thrillers and tech stories!

This was a great story, but I think some of the technical jargon was lost on me. There’s more than one twist towards the end that were totally unexpected and set the characters up for future adventures. I look forward to the author’s next book coming in September!

Maybe it's because I'm not a techie but I don't like seeing a lot of terms that need a definition. So let the techies enjoy this series. Too many unbelievable things in this story. The basic plot is the only thing that saves it.

Thoroughly enjoyed. I could stamp on the cover "For My Amusement."

The crime in this mystery/thriller is a series one committed by a kid who hadn't matured into his intellect. The cast of lively characters go about trying to keep him from spending life in prison. Everything worked for me: the variety of people in the group, their interactions with each other, and of course their working together was perfect.

Pepper gave the characters life that I bought. I sat down for just a few minutes to get started and finished a couple hours later. I felt good, happy, and tickled. The detriment of a Kindle read versus physical book -- I didn't get to hug it, flip the pages, and just look it (always after a good read).

I had forgotten this was a prequel. I look forward to exploring more of Pepper's Tanto books.

I would gift this and recommend for all from late teens on. I would have sent this to my father immediately after reading unable to hold it back for a holiday.

This is the prequel to a trilogy. Tanto is a hacker and he was once bailed when he got caught. Now, he decides to do the same for DJ, a young hacker who's in deep trouble. Despite his gut warning him that he should abort and his instincts telling him client Michelle is not who she claims to be in relation to DJ, it's the principle that drives Tanto to save the young hacker. So, Tanto works with his friends, Squirrel_Lord and Mane-Eac, to carry out the rescue mission.

The chapters switch between past and present to establish the setting, further demonstrating Tanto's willingness to rescue someone he's never met before. The past also helps readers gain insight into Tanto's character. The book is written in the present tense so readers read the narrative in real time. This is a personal pleasant way to read since nothing in the future can be foreseen and readers learn what happens at the same time as the characters. This is a thrilling and suspenseful story that is quick to read.

4.5 stars DoGoodR is a short prequel to the Tanto trilogy. Tanto evolves around some young hackers, who have been hired by a young woman claiming to be the sister of the hacker DoGoodR, to help get him out of trouble after he ends up behind bars. Tanto and his friend Squirrel_Lord (this guy is quite literally a squirrel he has you laughing constantly). Set out with the help of a fellow from to help rescue DoGoodR and prove his innocence.

This book is full of technological information with guides to explain words one might know which I really loved since I’ve never read a tech book before. From the very first page it hooks you and takes you in a wild and fast ride. Don’t let the size of this prequel deceive you it is short but it is mighty. Packing lots of punches and action throughout every page.

This story is told in dual time lines of past and present so the reader gets a clear understanding of what is going on. I’m excited to start the next two books in this series and see where things go for Tanto and his friends.

In full transparency, I am the author's wife, and I published this novella. So, I'm totally biased, but I really enjoyed this book!

The author wrote this book after he wrote the first book in the Tanto Series (You Will Know Vengeance). The reason this book came out second is because some of the beta readers of YWKV had some unanswered questions; so, DoGoodR answers some of the questions you may have, it helps establish the world the author has built, and you learn about the MC.

While the adventure in this book is very different from YWKV, it is still action-packed with a ticking clock! Also, it is a short and easy read. I often encourage people to read DoGoodR first to make sure they enjoy the author's writing style. You do not have to read this book first, but I would definitely recommend it.

This thriller although quick kept the reader very engaged. Right from the start the action is go,go,go as we can picture ourselves in Tanto's shoes. I enjoy the fact we learn a little about the characters but there's still so much mystery it leaves you wanting more. The fact Tanto acquired his dog and took the dog gives him major brownie points. I love that Pepper added a list of Hacker jargon to the end of the book for those like myself that may not understand all the hacker terms. I already have another Tanto book on my wishlist to learn more.

I enjoyed this short read about computer hackers trying to help a friend , through hacking a government agency, to help friend out of jail.
Interesting read and lots of computer jargon. There is a glossary with the jargon at end that helps.

A short read that will fly by as the story quickly moves from a young man who decides to see how smart he is and finds out he's too smart for his own good when he gets caught hacking NASA. When Tanto accepts the challenge of saving him from a life in prison, the thrills amp up. The best thing about the book, it's a 5 star read but there's another Tanto and team book out soon.

This was a short book but action packed with twists I didn't see coming. I normally don't read technothrillers and some of the technical jargon went over my head. But the plot was well thought out and kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters were quite interesting and the writing was excellent. Overall, I found the book very entertaining and well worth reading.

Was not my normal read but was a good short read. It was a good little short novel that took us on a little adventure in the mind of a criminal. The ending was the best part of the book. It took a couple of minutes to get in but when I was I could not let go.

This follows a group of hackers hired to hack the FBI to clear the name of a younger hacker who hacked NASA for the fun of it. It flowed well, was well written and a great story. It was very techno oriented - computer hacking, etc., so if that’s your thing, you will enjoy this one!

A fast-paced techno-thriller

This fast-paced techno-thriller is the prequel to the author’s Tanto thriller series, and it’s a fun, twisty tale of hackers fighting the power. It’s a quick read to give readers a taste of thrills to come. Check it out.

My first book by W.A. Pepper. I enjoyed the whole technology aspect of this book. As a former Technology Support Technician for a school, it was fun. The characters were good and I enjoyed the length. Will read this author again.

I listened to the new audio version of this book recently, and I absolutely loved it! The narrator did a fantastic job of bringing the main character, Tanto, to life, and he was pleasant to listen to, too. If you're looking for a shorter listen, this book was only a little over 3 hours - great for a shorter road trip!
