In his defence, he did technically ask before kidnapping me.
In my defence, I didn’t want his pride of sabre-toothed beasts to tear apart the males I was starting to care for.
It’s no wonder I tried to flee the sinful fae the first chance I got.
After a slight misunderstanding with momentum foils my escape, my captor decides on more… extreme measures.
Who knew shackles even came in solid gold?
Trapped and vulnerable to his hungry gaze and teasing touch, the passion between us builds.
The Feline King may have been the reason I’d been Selected for the Hunt in the first place, but the monstrous fae is more than he seems. Beast and man in equal measure, the shifter might just have a heart beating under all that smug sarcasm and sculpted muscle.
When a familiar dominant Alpha comes to my rescue, will I finally be set free? Or will I find out just how many benefits there are to being captured by the fae?
Either way, the Hunt can’t last forever.
*This short and spicy novella is the fourth book in the Fae Mate Hunt series (so please mind the slight cliff). It’s an adult monster romance intended for mature audiences. This is a fast-burn, reverse harem story, where the heroine doesn’t have to choose. More love interests are introduced throughout the series. Contains swearing, mild violence and steamy scenes with multiple partners and magical fae males (because monsters need love too). If you have delicate sensibilities, maybe give this one a hard swerve
Sakura Black is a British author who spends her days pretending to be a sensible adult. Most of the time, she gets to write steamy fantasy and paranormal romance, often dreaming up wild stories about frightfully sweet monsters and the women they’re lucky enough to fall horns over tail for.
This review will have all previous books in the series on it.
Short story Strong FMC Very hot Book 1 of many Definitely recommend
Paisley – Human woman with a hint of unknown shifter fae blood. One of the (un)lucky humans Selected, called a Shua’than by the fae.
Vrix (a.k.a Alpha / Red) – Alpha male of the Wolfen (a fae caste). Paisley’s mate (calls her Bunny).
Finntyr (a.k.a Finn / Tiger) – King of the minotaurs (a fae caste). Paisley’s mate (calls her Petal / Pet).
Pascan – Bossy royal male fire nymph (a fae caste). Brother to Pascan and Kerax. Meets Paisley in a restaurant in the human realm. Paisley’s mate (calls her Phoenix).
Kerax (a.k.a Smirky Fire / Chuckles) – Cheeky royal male fire nymph. Brother to Pascan and identical twin to Zavix. Meets Paisley in a restaurant in the human realm. Paisley’s mate (calls her Sweet Flame).
Zavix (a.k.a Grouchy Fire / Sparky) – Grouchy royal male fire nymph. Brother to Pascan and identical twin to Kerax. Meets Paisley in a restaurant in the human realm. Paisley’s mate (calls her Princess).
Rhylan (a.k.a Kitten) – King of the feline shifters (a fae caste). Meets Paisley in her dream and marks her as one of the Selected. Paisley’s mate.
Newbury – Female nature nymph (a fae caste). Works with Paisley in the human realm and her best friend. Mikah – Male fae. Lives with Paisley in the human realm.
The hunter – Female fae with candyfloss pink hair. A royal bounty hunter responsible for kidnapping Paisley and taking her to Faerie for the Hunt.
Paisley's night was like another. Went out with friends, came home, and went to sleep. While sleeping, she was pulled into a weird dream. She lay in a beautiful field, where an Alpha Fae put his claim on her. Upon waking up, she realized that this was no normal dream. She had indeed been marked and was now summoned to join the Fae Mate Hunt. Though trying to find a way out of it, she is eventually found by the royal bounty hunter and thrown in.
When she wakes up, she realizes she is barely clothed, she is in the Fae realm, and something in the woods. She hears footsteps and runs for her life but is eventually caught by a royal shifter and his crew. After some extremely hot sex scenes with 3 shifters, 4 if you include Paisley, the book ends on a high note and her story continues in book 2.
Book 2 Same gist. She is now being chased by a minotaur and he makes her his mate. At the end of her book, she runs into some characters that she met in the mortal realm in book 1. Their story is followed in book 3.
Again, very hot!
Book 3 She is taken by the Nymps and finds things out about her that she didn't previously know. We also find out that she is one of the Nymps fated mates. It ends with her being kidnapped by the man she met in her dreams in book 1.
This. Book. Is. HOT AND SPICY!
Book 4 She is taken by the feline king. She is found and falls from the adult tree house that the feline king has made for the Hunt. She realizes she is a fae fox with wings. Her guys are obsessed and after running from a fire shortly after they have some group activities (so hot). She is then whisked away and portaled to where the bidding was held.
Like the others, this book is hot!

I'm not sure if Rhylan was the worst of Paisley's mates, but he was somewhere at the top of the list. She agreed to go with him at the end of the last book, so what did he do? Magic-ed her unconscious and changed her into skimpy negligee. To add insult to injury he chained her to a bed after she regained consciousness, chaining her in a way that she was completely bared for his perusal, then teased her to a point she was begging for release. Then he called her a slut and fucked her. What with the slut shaming in this series? He was the second guy to call her a slut while doing everything in his power to turn her into needy mess before she surrendered to his whims. I thought Vrix and Finn were bad with the dubious consent, but Rhylan used her while she could barely move and couldn't fight even if she wanted to. And she was conflicted at the beginning of their smutty scenes, so it felt icky as hell. Oh, and he was the guy who picked her for the Hunt, he wanted her as his mate and he called her his human/mortal pet, very fucking romantic... We also saw Vrix again, he was a bit of a monster, but finally he seemed to turn on his brain, he was regretful for being rough, asked if Paisley was okay and pretty much promised to be a good mate, so he grew in my eyes a little. So once again I have the gripe that this is tagged as a romance, not erotica and that it should have a tag "Dark" somewhere, because not one of the guys was a love interest, they were all just fuck partners, there wasn't any romance and they were all a bit too toxic or openly abusive towards they supposed chosen mate.
Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Is it back to the beginning..After all it was technically Rhylan that pulled Paisley into the hot mess. Those word are her weapon of choice, is just hilariously funny, especially in the heat of the moment. Yep, even chained to the bed, bondage style, at Rhylan mercy. These royalties treat her has if she was just fae-drunk, making us wonder just who is going to be the delicious mate, will there be multiple mates or no one wins the human at the end? Which fae will win a fight of battle royal. What is with the crank’d out mind games is next?
So I am still very much enjoying this series. But I have to say I am slightly upset with this one. One I didn't particularly care that much for Rhylan. He was a little to obnoxious for my liking. That and the fact that he wouldn't listen to Paisley when she tried to tell him that her nymphs weren't using any mind tricks on her. The other thing that upset me is that Paisley finally shifted, but we still don't know to what! I mean is she a harpy? Is she an angel? Is she some kind of bird? When are we going to learn what kind of shifter she is? I really need to know that! Hopefully it is revealed in the next book.
Paisley is working on escaping from the Fae that hunt her, but she finds herself trapped by the one who put her in the Mate Hunt to start. Now Rhylan has her captive and he doesn't plan on letting her get away this time.
I love that we've circled back around to Rhylan, although I am surprised he didn't get to her first, given he was the one who brought her into the hunt in the first place. They have some steamy chemistry that makes you melt, and it's interesting to see Paisley react to each Fae individually since the start.
Book 4 has been released and it did NOT disappoint! Short + saucy + forced proximity with a shifter cat king after that cream = read this right meow. (ha, see what I did there?)
Okay, seriously though, you're definitely going to want to pick this up especially if you've already devoured the first 3 books. Paisley finally shifts, all the mates are fighting for her to be theirs, and the saucy fun times are VERY plentiful. Oh, and of course, there's a killer cliffhanger to round it all out.
Another book , another mate, another kink. I personally didn't like the 'feline king' he made me want to punch him in the face at every opportunity. I think he is supposed to come across as a little cheeky. But 'o' denial is not my thing and frustrates the hell out of me and makes me angry. I'm not dissing anyone's kink but this one is not for me. Again, plenty of smutty goodness with some story.
I'm not giving any spoiler other than the kink included in the book.
She ends up with the one from her dreams, the one who marked her for the Hunt. The others ended up all together and started fighting. Which led to her transforming into a creature and poof she was taken again to the hall. What's happened?
One step closer to finishing this series. This was a bit funnier. I love the quirkiness of the Feline King. His attitude is just about right and how he meshes it with the Wolfen King.
