This is a hard book to read because our three anime cyborg superchicks find themselves in absolutely horrifying situations. Damaged, separated, and prone to finding themselves in the hands of awful people--this is a book that has a lot of things that may bother readers. It doesn't get graphically into the details of what can, could, and almost happens but needless to say there's a lot of sadistic evil doers out there who our (anti)heroines find themselves in the clutches of.
If you can look over that and I certainly do then you have a fascinating neon and rain soaked cyber future about them trying to figure out how to escape. If I had to describe D.B Goodin's Cyber Hunter series, it'd be if someone managed to combine Ghost in the Shell, a colorful magical girl anime, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. If that sounds like an eccentric combination of hardcore R-rated crime and violence with beautiful blue-haired cyber-dolls then you'd be 100% right.
It might not be for everyone but it definitely has its interest for me and I suspect a lot more of the audience. Solid writing and characterization for those who like dark and gritty storytelling with colorful supertech. Like the fact Evangelion is about Shinji's horrifying emotional abuse as well as mecha. I have already picked up the sisters' next adventure.

Could be better.
This book needs some polishing up. Not a bad story overall. The series could be a lot more than it is by removing much of the unnecessary violence, which does little for the story momentum. It has its moments of fun sci-fi storytelling.

Our heroine is trying to save her sister, but as both of them are cyborgs, it is hard to find someone to trust. Indeed, they certainly run into more people that mean them harm than any others. This forces our heroine to take a dark path herself.
This is book two of the series. While it is a continuation of the first book, it actually does pretty well as a standalone. The essential parts are covered early on.
This is a dark science fiction story with some very questionable characters doing decidedly dark things. That being said, the story is well written although not always easy to read. Between a complex plot and a fair amount of violence and other dark elements, this story is not for everyone. But those that are interested will find an intriguing look into cyborg technology. I found the story to be very engrossing and I look forward to exploring the other books in the series.
