Shepherd's Creek
Book 1: Journey to Forgiveness Book 2: The Bronc Rider's Twins
A self-professed crazy chicken lady, Danica Favorite loves the adventure of living a creative life. She loves to explore the depths of human nature and follow people on the journey to happily ever after. Though the journey is often bumpy, those bumps are what refine imperfect characters as they live the life God created them for. Oops, that just spoiled the ending of all of Danica’s stories. Then again, getting there is all the fun.
I absolutely love this story of hope, faith and forgiveness. Sometimes our journey in life has unexpected twists and turns that we don't always understand why something happens to us. In this story Josie finds her way back home to her painful past and she learns that having faith in God anything is possible. This is a emotional story of love, hope and forgiveness. If you haven't read this story yet you don't know what you're missing it's really awesome!!!!!
A heart-changing story of grace and forgiveness in the face of heartbreak, betrayal, and unmet expectations. When Josie returns home after her father dies, she, and those around her, need to wade through years of hurt and learn to trust in God to redeem their stories. As they learn to let God heal their old scars, they find that God had a plan all along, for each of them, and for the business that touches so many lives, and that they must work together to save. The messages of this story are sure to stay with you long after you've finished reading it. I received a copy of this book from the author with no expectations as to a review. These are my own thoughts and opinions.
Journey To Forgiveness by Danica Favorite Book 1 - Shepherd's Creek The one place she wants to avoid… Is the home she needs to save. Josie Shepherd never expected to inherit her estranged father’s horse stables—not after fifteen years of painful silence. But keeping the failing business is the only way to protect her hometown from developers, even if it means partnering with Brady King—the man who once broke her heart. Saving the property won't be easy…but could forgiveness be the key to reopening their hearts? This is Josie Shepherd and Brady King's story. Josie Shepherd pulled up in front of the main barn at the Shepherd’s Creek Equestrian Complex. The only reason she’d relented on her promise to never return to Hidden Valley, the small town nestled in the Colorado mountains where she’d grown up, was because her cousin Abigail had begged her. Even then, she’d skipped the memorial service and was only here for the will reading she’d been told she had to attend. She got out of the car and adjusted her skirt. For a moment, she regretted her decision to wear a dress and heels, but what was done was done. . Another outfit might have been more practical, but she wanted no trace of the old Josie here. It was bad enough having to face the memories. Brady King. The other reason she’d left. Brady had always told her he’d stand beside her to help her stand up to her father. That had been a lie. She hated that he still looked good. Hated that her heart still skipped a beat, even though she had a million reasons why it was completely inappropriate. And one of them, the biggest one, was right beside him. The teenage girl walking next to him. All those years ago, when Maddie Antere claimed to be carrying Brady’s baby, Josie had wanted to believe it was a lie, just like all the other things Maddie used to lie about. I recommed reading. Journey To Forgiveness by Danica Favorite is a wonderful well written 5 star book. I am looking forward to reading more of her book. This book touched me in so many ways. We all have people in our lives we need to forgive, including ourselves. We also need to seek forgiveness from others as well as from God. Forgiveness is often easier said than done. This author takes you on several journeys to aand through forgiveness via her characters. I laughed, cried, rejoiced, and empathized with the characters in the ups and downs of their lives.
It has been a while since a book has touched me as deeply as this one did. I highly recommend Journey to Forgiveness for an inspirational, romantic read.
This is the first book in a new series by Danica Favorite, and what a good start! Ms. Favorite takes us on a realistic journey as her characters struggle to arrive at true forgiveness. Josie Shepherd was raised by a hard father, betrayed by her boyfriend, Brady King, and her nemesis, Maddie Antere. Josie returns 15 yrs later to find out she has inherited Shepherd Creek Equestrian Complex from her deceased father. The stables are in financial trouble, but with so many families depending on her to keep the stables up and running, will she work to keep the stables, or sale out to a developer?
Good characters, good storyline, good book! I’m ready for book 2!
I absolutely loved this beautiful story, although that doesn’t surprise me because I have loved every one of Danica Favorite’s books that I have had the privilege of reading. She seems to be a very character driven author who is also able to throw in some surprises and challenges along the way. Josie and Brady are real people with strengths and weaknesses that learn so much about themselves, faith, and forgiveness during the course of the plot. Betrayal of the type they suffered would be devastating. Maddie and Kayla are also very realistic, relatable characters. I am so glad I read this.
This is the first book I've read by Danica Favorite, but I have to say I'm now a fan. I loved her easy-to-read style and the in-depth characters.
Josie Shephard inherits her estranged father's horse stables. She has a life of her own apart from the stables which remind her of her dreaded past. When she has to work with Brady King, it all comes rushing back again.
The story is about hurt feelings, lies, relationships, and most of all forgiveness that only God can bring. It's an emotional but uplifting read that you will ponder after the last page is turned. Highly recommended.
This book was a beautiful story of how God can turn what the enemy means for evil into good. After 15 years of trying to overcome the broken heart caused by betrayal, Josie is forced to return to her home and face her past. It is a long, hard road, but with God's help and love of family she is able to forgive and find the future He has for her. This book was hard to read at times and I found myself wondering if I could forgive if I was faced with the same situation, but with God's grace it is possible.
I enjoyed this clean, romance. I bought this at a local store and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 4* rating. I just didn't get pulled into this story like I usually do. I liked the point being made but felt that there was little joy till the very end. I can't quite put my finger on it. The very ending, was very dramatic and sent the message more clearly.
I love the characters and the storyline. Such a great example of forgiveness and trying again. I know this story is fictional, but my friend’s personal story is true and is a demonstration of this type of forgiveness for the children’s sake. Following God’s plan for us. Danica is one of my favorite authors. I look forward to the next book.
What a great story of second chances, redemption, and belief in God. I loved reading about Josie returning to her home, getting a second chance at romance, forgiving others, and making positive changes in her life along with a resurgence of her faith. The story reminded me of the importance of my own relationship with God. I received a copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Repost of my original review on Amazon.com.
Journey to Forgiveness begins the Shepherd’s Creek series with a difficult subject for many people… forgiveness. It doesn’t matter what your belief system might be, at some point in our lives forgiveness is going to play a part in our lives. And it’s going to take up a huge part of Josie’s and Brady’s lives when Josie returns home after fifteen years to inherit property from her father that she never wanted and hopes to get rid of as quickly as possible. Only, the reality of her former home, the community she grew up in is far different from when she left to build her life far from the stables. Now they need the business these stables, this property brought in is a livelihood for so many people including the man who broke her heart long ago with a betrayal she has no intention of ever forgiving. She could walk away keeping her anger close to her heart. Or she could stay, try to find a solution, and perhaps forgiveness for those who have hurt her down to her soul. It’s a choice – and a difficult one until she slowly begins to see another side to past events with fifteen years of maturity behind her.
Pain-filled and hopeful are the two words that come to mind when trying to describe Journey to Forgiveness. There is so much pain for Josie in being back home, and for Brady as well. And to talk much more about this story would involve spoilers which I try not to do. Watching Josie’s journey through this story is full of so many emotions, hoping that she’ll begin to see situations with new eyes, afraid that too much hurt will make that impossible for her. I’ll admit that there were moments of anger while reading this one, it’s really difficult to not get emotionally invested in this one. I loved watching the changes in many of the characters, seeing their past actions through fresh eyes. There are a few surprises (well I had guessed but wasn’t sure) along the way, some rebuilding of relationships, and eventually forgiveness.
If you love a faith-based romance with real people facing life’s challenges, watching a community gather around a returning member, and a couple who do really belong together find their way back… then Journey to Forgiveness is perfect for you.
