The book Project Management by Vibrant Publishers is a short but informative book about the know-how of project management. It is brought out under the Self-Learning Management Series by the publishers. True to this, it is self-sufficient for understanding the basics of the subject with ample examples, practical approaches, and templates. It is pretty much concise and a user-friendly book.

It delves into the theory of project management with its initiation and planning. It goes on to explain the project execution, its monitoring, and the need for proper closure of it. Concepts of audits, business communications, risks associated with project, constraints, etc are discussed lucidly. What I liked was its easy language which makes it simpler for the reader to grasp the knowledge. Also, the glossary provided at the end of the book is its plus point. It makes it easy to refer to the typical jargon of project management. However, I found a few (perhaps, 2 or 3) typos. I would suggest doing a bit of editing.

In all, the book is good to get an overview of the process of project management and could be referred by a professional or a student.

As some of you may have heard, I am currently in the process of changing my website to a self-hosted format. I'll give you all the details soon, but I swear, Project Management Essentials couldn't have to come to me at a more perfect time.

This handy reference guide is from Vibrant Publishers' Self-Learning Management Series and is only 166 pages, but packed with must have information in regards to managing a project. As it is, "project" is defined as:

"a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result."

Where many things are described as a project, the real defining trait is that a true project has a start and end timeline, as well as a unique outcome. Unless it has these two things, the correct term to use is operations, which involves a routine or repetitive nature. Being that my day job is in the Operations department, you'd think I'd know that information already, but I didn't! Additionally, I now understand I should stop calling everything a project.

Now, the book goes on to explain how a project can be broken down. There is management involved in creating the project, projecting the budget, assembling a team, and monitoring the outcome of the final product. Each section is broken down into easily digestible paragraphs of information, with accessible language for ease of understanding. While the information is streamlined, there is still plenty to digest. Therefore, the publishers have also included a summary at the end of each chapter, as well as comprehension exercises to help make sure the reader understands what they have read. I really thought this was a great addition to the guide and helpful to the reader.

While the content of the book isn't that sexy of a topic, project management is easy to apply to many personal and professional situations. As a book blogger, I took some of this information and applied it to my current situation of transferring my blog site, and this actually helped visualize the steps I have and still need to take to complete the process. I certainly plan to continue utilizing what I have learned from Project Management Essentials, as well as share the final results and steps with you all!

In all sizes of business, it is vital to align business strategy with the ongoing/upcoming projects. Right? To avoid all possible errors and ensure sustainability, management of the projects is vital. Hence, it necessary for a project manager to not only know the concepts but also learn the practical application of the same in real-life scenarios.
This book Project Management (essentials you always wanted to know) by Vibrant Publishers is a part of their self-learning management series and is quite knowledgable for those who are looking for concise quality content related to project management. Divided into 6 major chapters, the book has a chapter summary at the end of each chapter. It has a glossary at the end of the book which is helpful. The six chapters are-
1. Overview
2. Project initiation
3. Project planning
4. Project execution
5. Project monitoring
6. Project closure
Also, the author has tried explaining the topics by using infographic explanation for quick understanding. However, I feel the book could have been more elaborative. The page quality is superb, but the price of the book is high as compared to books of project management available in the market.

Disclosure: I was provided this book for free in exchange for my honest review. This review is based on the forthcoming 5th edition.

I've recently begun the process of studying for my PMP certification, and wanted a small book that would lay out the basics of Project Management to serve as a refresher/reference guide as a study. This book delivers very well on its promise of outlining the essentials of project management without a lot of extra fluff. I especially liked the case studies and exercises at the end of the chapters to help apply the information that had just been presented and (hopefully) cement it in the reader's brain.

The writing in this book is clear and concise. I would recommend it mostly for beginners or individuals who have largely experienced informal project management, though, as I think most with experience in formal project management would find this book too into-level to be particularly useful.

This was fairly basic (for someone working in the field without any specific training) BUT if someone is in that entry-level state and looking for a good primer, I think this covers all the essentials nicely.
