Katherine
How do you go on when all of your wants and dreams have been destroyed? My loved ones were snatched right out of my hands, leaving me alone in a world of unknowns and terror. I'm lost in the in-between with no familiar paths to follow until the sound of a heartbeat and a whisper draws me back to the land of the living.

RaZ
The moment I laid eyes upon her face I knew there would be no distance I wouldn’t travel to make her my own. Unknown forces try to steal her from my arms and even if I have to fight the very essence of her world, the universe, or the Gods we pray to. Nothing will stop me from making her MINE!

”It’s the end of the world as we know it.”

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💜💚💖
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😠☺️😋🥰😎
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Hero: RaZ - he got a transmission from across space and from the moment he saw Katherine on that transmission, he knew she was his. From that moment, he changed from being a funny slacker, to a man on a mission. He left his father, his father’s human mate, Kiera and his 21 brothers who each have a different ability and look due to their mixed heritage. Since his father met Kiera, they searched for Earth, found their grandfather and Katherine. Now RaZ is on his way.

The heroine: Katherine - everything she ever loved has been destroyed after a huge asteroid hit Jupiter which knocked it off its axis and the gravity started pulling all the planets in the solar system towards it. Earth was affected greatly, including the loss of over 1/3 of the population within weeks. Storms began soon after including tornados, earth quakes, and hurricanes starting to kill all life on earth.

The Story: the story was a bit confusing at first and I don’t think it was due to the fact that this was the first book in the series that I have read. Because there was plenty of catch up material at the very beginning. RaZ was in a spaceship going off to find Katherine, and every time he went to sleep, he somehow got into a soft of astral projection of the past where a girl named Katherine died and stuck around as a ghost to protect her friend who was being abused. Then when that friend had a baby, it was somehow Katherine reborn. Meanwhile, RaZ was having all sorts of problems on his ship during his journey.

Katherine’s uncle Tye (RaZ’s grandfather) brought her and other family to his wrecked ship, though her mother and best friend was fading fast. Katherine has some paranormal abilities which include that she can reincarnate souls that she catches leaving their bodies. Though her mother makes her promise to let her and her father go.

The story was good and original and the world building was terrific. I liked the fact that RaZ is a vampire with wings, Even Katherine and her entire family were vampires who have lived hundreds of years, she was actually half vampire, half hellhound. Though the intimate scenes were overly full of prose and pretty statements that made the scenes way too fake and flowery. It had me laughing in a few places and it obviously wasn’t meant to be funny, which made it more so.

This book is told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Emily Sutton-Smith and Tor Thom. I really enjoy Tor Thom, he has a very deep masculine voice which is perfect for alien romance. He is one of the male narrators I always count on to do a great job. This is the first time I have listened to Emily Sutton-Smith. I am not sure how much I liked her voice. It was definitely a pleasant voice, though it was a bit lower than I like for a female narrator. I have to say though that some of my favorite chapters where when they were in the POV of the ships AI.

This was soo good. I took a long time to read it hoping that the author would come out with the next set of audiobooks because I love doing side by side reads. That being said this was an extremely enjoyable read and listen and this series is becoming one of my favorite. Dar has 22 sons I don’t expect them all to get a book but the top 12 major hitters in the story definitely deserve their spotlight. I hope this continues to be the way that it is because it makes me laugh, cry and swoon.

These men know how to treat family and a lady and it’s been a pleasure getting to be apart of the world of Darverius.

Happy reading everyone 🥰😘

RaZ is the fourth book in the Daverius, House of DAR series, and it is RaZ and Katherine's story.

What a great and original read! It is heartbreaking, sad, loving, and heart-warming, with some fun moments. Yes, there were some tears.

I like Sci-fi tales because anything goes, and it's not weird. The world that Jennifer has created is full of modern technology, along with AIs that are more than they seem.

The story is told in multiple POV, which makes the story more immersive. There is action, a variety of aliens; some are truly evil, and others are just big teddy bears.

Yes, there are some editing issues, but they don't detract from the story, not enough to be a pain in the arse.

How far would you go for love?
He traveled through time and space to save her!
He has dreamed about her past and present life. Earth is dying and her uncle Ty has sent out a rescue message to his home world. Since the first time Raz sees her in that message, he knew she was his mate.
Katherine has been in love with Raz since she first saw him. He IS the man of her dreams. There's not a day that goes by that she's not waiting, hoping, praying that he makes it to them, to her in time. Because time is LITERALLY running out!
Get your tissues ready because this had heartbreak, joyous as well as HIGHLY INTENSE moments. AND I LOVED EVERY MOMENT!!!! The interactions are delightful and at times hilarious with just the right amount of steam between the H/h. The illustrations were a plus to the story (the one of the Earth, WOW) and plenty of hints at new adventures to come.
Can be read as a stand alone but, don't cheat yourself, get the whole series.
Well written. Great world building. Intense action, steam and a HEA make this a must for this sci fi romance lover. Yes I recommend this book!!!

Ugh, no. DNF. The instant love was soooo off putting. This blows away all other insta loves. They saw each other in the background of someone else’s video call and maybe they each spoke a total of 5 words. He flies across the galaxy to get to her and the moment they meet it’s like they’ve been dating for months already. They’re instant lovers and partners and have zero questions of their relationship. It’s so odd!! I just couldn’t get into it after that. Plus there seems to be a lot of history surrounding her family/friends from an earlier series that made me feel a bit lost too, so that didn’t help.

go back and read from the beginning

While this book could be read alone, the reader would struggle. I’ve read all of the house of Dar and even I struggled with all the characters. When I finished I went back to the authors page and realized that there was another series (the forsaken series) which is an origin series that takes place before the Dar series. The Dar series has given spoilers for the forsaken one. This does not deter me,however. I will be going back to read that series now. It seems appealing enough on its own.
As for this book, I will say it stands out from the others in the series. To me, it was more mystical/metaphysical. Katherine’s character didn’t appeal to me as much as the other fmc’s from the previous books. She seemed to me always in her head. Raz’ character is swoon worthy and terrific in all aspects. I read a lot of books and I think this series is different from all of the ones out there. I can’t quite put my finger on what makes this series unique, though, other than it just feels different. The writing is simple. (Not too scientific) it has elements that will make you sad (such as the earth dying) as well as humor, romance, and deep family ties. Most of the book takes place on earth. There is no cheating in this series. The couple’s are devoted to each other and in the instance of this book,it’s insta love (raz having seen Katherine for the first time in the previous book). As I said, there is so much backstory that I would advise you to start from the beginning book. (Either the forsaken series or Dar’s book one. I would definitely read any further books from this series that the author writes. She has given us a teaser that there might be more which would be great. This book does seem to wrap up most of the storylines though. Be advised that there is adult content.🌶🌶🌶 happy reading ❣️📚

Extremely imaginative

The series definitely develops an extremely imaginative world, and I have liked all of the previous books. While I liked this one it seemed a bit more abrupt and less cohesive than previous volumes. That said one of my largest issues with the entire series are few consistently made diction issues: 'yea' is NOT the casual confirmation we frequently use in place of 'yes' and in fact means something totally different, so the correct spelling is 'yeah.' Secondly, the word 'rut' does not mean nosing around trying to get under objects (and actually has more sexual or animal breeding connotations), the word the author should be using his "root," or "rooting." There are other words where it seems the author is unclear on proper diction such as using "substance" instead of the word "sustenance" in reference to nutrition or food; then the word "install" instead of the word "instilled" which again sounds similar and have kind of similar meanings but cannot really be used interchangeably. In short the diction needs some work and I would recommend more thorough editing. Despite the diction flubs the creative imagination, plot, and character development are pretty good and the series is certainly enjoyable and I will be continuing, I just hope the next book is more cohesive, with a better flowing storyline, more smoothly incorporated transitions and is less abrupt and choppy.

Its not just a Romance or Intrigue ! Action and Hot Spicy Goth on the Side

This was different it seems you need the whole story.

With Earth ending. Action and Hot Spicy Goth on the Side,. The action just sneak right up on you., to make you go YAHOO'S Say What , Let Me Back That Thang Up! Only to turn around and say .......Now that's what I mean! I actually cried in parts. Its a powerful read. Such to the 5th power + Ten ahhh huh I love it. Not your plain "Old School Romance". One my momma told you beware of what you wish for OKay.... !!!

~Aparantly I love this storyline. It is beyond what I've been reading lately while waiting for a Kindred Brides Book.

Teaser Alert....But have you ever wanted to know if the planet you were born on, what would happen to the other creatures once they leave with you before the end of 3rd Rock from the Sun.. Only to change your very essence in the passage of time during traveling into space.

You got to read this series period. It will open your mind to the possibilities to life on another planet in another galaxy.

Join this author on her journey for us. Thank you Jennifer Miller I'm A avid reader of all good things Romantically Syfy...... with a bit of intriguing stuff playing in the background.

At first glance, RaZ a playful, fun-loving winged alien vampire with a cheeky sense of humor—but underneath that charm lies a fierce warrior driven by deep loyalty and passion. He embarks on a dangerous and years long interstellar mission to find and protect his destined mate, Katherine, as well as his grandfather. The other characters we meet on Earth are part of another series from this author but you don't have to have read them to understand the story.

Katherine's connection to Raz is instant. She senses him across the cosmos, and their bond—though technically an example of insta-love from the moment they see each other—is portrayed with sincerity: Raz becomes her purpose and anchor. Her quiet strength, emotional depth, and unique heritage make Katherine an intriguing FMC—grounded in grief yet open to the love offered by RaZ.

The story doesn’t just end with emotional closure; it also opens the door to expanded story arcs, more mysteries, and deeper world-building within the Darverius: House of DaR universe.

Fantastic, action, horror, romance and mysticism.

There was so much packed in this story it was almost too much to absorb and fully appreciate. Great writing, I truly felt earth's destruction, so horrific, this is and isn't your general romance as such as both characters knew they were destined to be, this is a story about a race against time and inevitable. It had so much packed into it and before I knew it 6 years had been packed into a couple of hours. JJM your vision and stories just get better as do your characters, I will be interested to see where you go from here as you take earth mysticism and alien technology and amalgamate them. Personally I'm happy to read whatever character you choose next as I know it will be good. Not much pressure I hope.

This ate!

I practically ate this book up. Out of all the books so far this one has been the longest, and the one that had me on the edge of my seat, the most. This one had my adrenaline pumping, and I flipped through it so fast I didn’t even realize I was finished. However, this story is also the one that made me the most confused. I feel like a lot of things were happening all at once, and there were a ton of new things being introduced that were kind of hard to keep up with. There were a lot of plot holes in regards to Katherine and her connection to the Earth and its destruction that threw me for a loop. Other than that, I love how everything was revealed in the story, and the addition of all the animals really made my day.

Another Awesome Book!!

I read way too many books to be writing reviews for them all. So when I do choose to write one, know that it's special. This story is just as awesome as all your stories are. The writing is smooth. Nothing pulled me from the story. All my emotions were engaged. I could hardly put it down to eat and sleep. Loved the storyline. Awesome job. Can't wait for the next one.

well done

I Enjoyed this book, loved the story building. Sad about the earth, but very imaginative writing. The love scenes were well done and loving.
This story was another in the series that was very good, and they are worth your time and money. Looking forward to hopefully finding out about all 22 sons or 23 including the bad one. Definitely worth a read so far they all have been.

Completely different tone from other stories in the series.

If you love vampire and urban fantasy, you'll love this. The story starts in the science fiction World we've seen in previous books, then takes a hard right turn to fantasyland. The story takes on an entirely different tone than everything else in the series to date.

However if you know anything about planetary science, portions of this book will hurt your head.

So I am reading this book for science fiction alien romance.

I am not reading this book for fantasy romance that has vampires, weird earth deity like beings who are tied to the earth??! I don’t know what is going on but it’s an absolute mess. There was no reason for a this weird fantasy inclusion. And I wasn’t going to stick around for this book. I tried. I made it to 20% but it was getting dumber and dumber

Proof you can go home again.

I don't know how to properly say with words how this book made me feel. To see everything come full circle with Tyberius (DaRs father) it just gave me all the feels. I don't wanna give too many spoilers. I can't wait to see what's next for this family.

Absolutely Awesome 😁

This series has become completely addicting 😃. Although each book is based on each main character, grandfather, father and twelve sons, not all the sons are explained 😉. So, who will happen next and with what human female 🤔? Thanks Jennifer, I'm so looking forward to reading more 🤓.

If your looking to feel all the feels this is the book for you. Vampire - check. Space travel- check. Ghost walking- check. Heck, let's throw in hellhounds and their other world counterparts - check.

Overall, a feel good read with all of the above. Good to pass the time

Travelling across the stars.

RaZ is travelling from Darverius across the stars to a dying earth. Can he get there in time to find his grandfather before the planet implodes?
Plagued by dreams of an unknown male, Katherine hopes to survive the journey from earth to her new home. Losses prey heavily on her mind.
A must read for all lovers of alien worlds.

Vampires

I was excited to read a vampire book, especially when they are partially from space. I found this story not as great as I had hoped but it was ok. I did not connect to the characters as well as in the previous stories. There was a lot going on and multiple POVs. Looking forward to more in this series. Reviewed by Who She Reads.

RaZ

Okay, this is book 4 of House of DaR. I enjoyed this one, enjoyed learning about the end of Earth and how it happened.
The characters are well written and the relationships believable.
The e book had a few flaws. Broken sentences, grammar errors. Nothing too awful but enough to make me thankful for KU.
The imagination of the author is astounding! I love her!

I really REALLY wanted to like this book more. I have enjoyed the series. I like the characters and partnerships in the previous books. I even enjoyed the characters in this one. But there was just something missing for me. Raz isn’t a bad book - good characters, mildly interesting story line. It just felt incomplete for some reason.

Serious tear jerker, people! OMG, it was like every 20 pages or so I was tearing up. It's honestly a really well put together story, it just lost some major points with me because I wasn't looking for something that tugged at my heart.

ok

I had to put this down and come back to it a couple times only because I refuse to skip a book when I start a series. The grammar in this series is ::deep sigh:: I’m from the south and I still don’t say reckon. I would want my characters to sounds as smart as they are.
