Kate Morgan #6

Simon Says….Walk

Rate this book
Detective Kate Morgan isn’t impressed with her latest case. A terrorized woman walks into the police station, with a message for Kate. Actually a message that drags Simon into the middle of it—no, make that front and center. A challenge has been issued, one that Kate is determined to solve, hopefully keeping Simon on the sidelines.
Blindsided, Simon doesn’t understand the message or the hate being directed his way. And the last thing he wants to do is revisit his past. Yet being in the middle of one of Kate’s cases doesn’t give him an option. If he can’t get to the bottom of this, his life will be, once again, torn apart—all to appease a madman’s new game.
But the answer, … when it comes, is closer to home than anyone realizes.

Too Intense for Me . . .

This series continues to follow Detective Kate Morgan and her team with Simon’s help through his special "abilities" when he is able to contribute. A killer is stalking people and the number of deaths keep rising. Will Simon be any use to Kate in finding the killer when he doesn’t understand the message aimed at him? Or will he be the one attacked this time? Will meeting the danger face-to-face without the buffer of it going through his abilities be a lethal event he won’t walk away from this time?

This one was particularly uncomfortable to read with the intensity of the violence and cruelty. It wasn’t a good “fit” for my reading pleasure this time.

Detective Kate Morgan is troubled by her latest case as a terrorised woman comes in and gives a message to Kate that drags Simon into the middle of a case. With the challenge issued Kate wants to solve it keeping Simon on the sidelines but even though Simon doesn't understand the message or the hate being sent his way if this is not stopped soon Simon's past is likely to be trawled through and he will never get any peace again. But the answer, when it comes, is closer to home than anyone realises.

I enjoyed this story which was complicated and directed at Simon in some sort of game that no one else knew or understood. Kate and her partner Rodney tried to do all the usual policing investigations as Simon did his best to think and connect anything that came to light or was in his mind. I loved that he took such great care of Kate even though she was investigating murders that were connected to him even though it was clear that he personally didn't do them. Easy to read, feel and understand there was some mature content.

Kate Morgan is just off her last case when a kidnapped woman comes in with a note to tell Simon that the game is on.

“I do know you”—he chuckled—“who you are at the core. You might still be fighting it, but I’ve definitely seen that rescue heroine on the inside.”

Simon has no idea what’s going on but people with a connection to him in a roundabout way are murdered. His gift of sight is growing in different ways than ever before.

This story was really fast paced and had me guessing until almost the end. Sometimes it seems like Simons sight isn’t very helpful at all but it’s always interesting how things are connected.

I love the way Simon and Kate’s relationship has slowly progressed over the books.

“And that’s why you came after me so fast because you love me. I always knew it.”

A dark and twisted web

Simon and Kate are once again drawn into a serial killers game of murder, shadows, partial visions, misdirection and haunting connections that may or may not mean anything in a 'game' of revenge.
This is one of the best of the series, Kate is finally accepting her place in the team, accepting Simon's visions and knowings and for the first time is embracing their relationship fully. Simon is finding he has more gifts than he knew....although he still struggles to control them.
In the middle of the turmoil, tragedy and terror the case causes, Kate and Simon manage to find escape peace in each others arms as they fully accept each others quirks, strengths and abilities.

I love all Dale Mayer's different series but this one has to be one of my favourites.
"Help me, Help me" these words in Simon's head were disturbing but also frustrating, his gift wouldn't take him any further, he knew her name and that she was in trouble but not where she was, he felt helpless.
Detective Kate Morgan was perplexed and worried when a terrified girl walked into the station with a message that she had been instructed to pass on to Kate, a message that implicates Simon in some sort of sick game.
Wealthy property developer Simon was in a relationship with Kate but their journey had been a tentative one, Simon had a psychic gift, a gift that he didn't want, a gift that he couldn't really control but the gift had helped Kate solve cases even though she had been very sceptical.
Simon was reluctant to get involved in Kate's latest case but because of the message he had little choice, girls were turning up murdered, all with the same MO, was this just the tip of the iceberg ? was Simon's charity work a catalyst ? did someone want Simon dead ?
This story follows Kate and her partner Rodney endeavouring to find clues that were missing, Simon trying to delve deeper into his psyche, the frustration felt by all.
Kate and Simon's relationship seems to have progressed, Simon has always loved Kate but he knew that if he pushed too much she would run, I think that Kate has now stopped running.
This story is suspense filled, it throws out many red herrings, it has many suspects but not until Simon's life is in danger is the culprit revealed. Another great story in the "Simon Says" series.

The Kate Morgan Series (Series) is one of Dales Mayer best Series. It's just enough different than her other Series that it makes me want another book in this Series. I was thrilled when I saw there was another book in this Series available. The two main characters in this Series is Kate, a Detective, and Simon, a psychic by birth. Each book has Kate & Simon's relationship getting stronger and this book was no different.

While Kate, her follow Police Detectives Teammates and Simon work through the clues from the murderer, to solve the murdered cases, Simon's psychic powers are growing stronger and Kate's feelings for Simon is also growing. Simon's psychic powers are used more and both Kate and Simon are shocked when some of the events occurs.

This book centers around Simon's past without Kate or Simon realizing the murderer is focusing on Simon and his past. Besides what's happening between Kate and Simon, the book has a lot to offer. You will find originality, multiply murders, action, wonderful characters, lot of twist and unpredictable turns, friendship, support to other, hatred, loving and romance.

I received a free copy of this for an honest review. I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys Psychic Mysteries, Hardboiled Mysteries, and Crime Mysteries books. This book you don't want to miss. It's entertaining, a page-turner, easy-to-read and fun to read!.

Simon really suffers in this one, not just because he can't get enough information to help Kate but he is attacked himself. Kate's team all rally to try and help her solve quite a few murders, the hardest fact being most are abused women who finally turned their lives around only to get it snatched away. The killer is so twisted, angry at Simon and the world in general. This was scary reading, it haunted my sleep after I'd put the book down for the night and honestly it took me longer than usual to read it, I took a few breaks to let things settle and digest. No one part but various scenes had me as unsettled as Simon and Kate. Aspects of the story were vicious and cruel. I had empathy for a kidnap victim and for Simon, who was tormented over not being able to find the person he connected too. Harrowing and haunting are just two words I'd use to describe this story, possibly the most disturbing one of the series to some degree. How Dale comes up with these ideas and then twists and twists them I have no idea, but she pulls me in with each and every one of them and always has me coming back for more. Powerful and suspenseful, physiologically draining and fulfilling, exciting and action packed plot.

If you've been following this series, you know how instrumental Simon has been in Kate's cases. He has no real control over his visions, but they have proven helpful at just the right time.

In this book Kate has to call Simon in from the start after a woman comes in to report a kidnapping and has a note addressed to Kate but with a message to Simon inside.

Kate reluctantly calls Simon to come and when he gets there brings him to an interrogation room. She starts and then Rodney joins them, as they try to puzzle this out.

Simon can offer no insight. Kate and Rodney proceed on the case, locating the victim and that opens a whole new can of worms.

Simon has issues with one of his sights and losing workers, that has an interesting tie in to this tale.

With every book the relationship between Simon and Kate grows as well, I love the way they take care of each other.

There are many twists in this one especially when Simon finally connects with a victim.

I love the way these books keep you on your toes wondering what's going to happen next. I certainly couldn't figure this one out until the end.

Kate Morgan is a homicide detective who has been going through many changes. She joined the department as a loner and is becoming part of the team. Simon is a psychic and his visions constantly intertwine with Kate's cases. As much as she doesn't want a relationship, she has become very close to Simon. The frustrating thing is Simon's visions don't give Kate enough information to act on. With all the help that Simon has given in the past, the department considers any input regarding a case credible. In this book, the serial killer is leaving clues pointing to Simon being responsible for the killing spree. Kate works on finding a link to Simon and the killer. While Simon works on finding a missing person who may be the next vision. I loved this book. I loved the surprise ending and I loved how Kate is starting to get comfortable in her relationship with Simon. I can't wait for the next book, Simon Says... Forgive.

(4.5)Suspense, mystery, thriller. This was an emotional gambit from murder, abuse to a women's shelter. Reminding us who are safe, not abused, what goes on in our world today. Kate, her partner Rodney and all the other detectives dealing with murder on a daily basis, knowing if they solve one there are 20 more out there. The first time we see the perp on the page I was pretty sure who it was. There was some weaving afterwords, but I was pretty confident and I was right. I love being long for the ride, as Kate and Simon work on their relationship. There are two points that really stuck with me. One (and I am paraphrasing here)...at any give time there is a women being held against her will. Prostitutes, sex trafficking, etc. The other was Simon telling the perp, whether I am dead or alive, Kate will never stop searching, bring you to justice. Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #simonsayswalk #katemorgan #dalemayer #valleypublishingltd # booksprout

Simon Says… Walk by Dale Mayer
Kate Morgan Series Book Six
Detective Kate Morgan’s job is never-ending. Always some psycho out there murdering people. Only this time, it has something to do with Simon. A woman shows up at the precinct with a message for Simon, an employee targeted, and more. Kate accepts his “gift” more and always hopes it can help them. Especially now.
Simon St. Laurent can’t imagine someone hating him so much that they are killing people because of him. People they somehow think are connected to him. Once again, he wished he’d let his gram tell him more about their psychic abilities. He could use the help to find answers.
I love how the two characters have softened through the books. Kate is more accepting of Simon…and caring. I enjoy this series. Tough subjects sometimes, but well-written and page-turners.
**Mild sexual content and language

An unpredictable roller coaster ride of mystery and danger.. WOW!

A woman walks into Kate's precinct because she wanted to report a kidnapping, hers. And, because she was asked to give a message to Kate, it was about Simon. The kidnapper wants him to play a game. She also said the kidnapper liked to keep his pets and she thinks those pets are human. Now Simon has no choice but to help with the investigation because it's all about him. People are being kidnapped, tortured and killed because of what someone thinks Simon did. But what kind of "game" is this person playing and why? This story was so good that I'm not going to say anything more about it. Except, that it is chilling, thrilling, dangerous, sad, hopeful, and downright unpredictable. Simply awesome! Next book please. Five stars from me.

This is a series that just gets better with every latest addition and is fast becoming a favourite from this very talented author who writes across a number of genres.

Wealthy philanthropist Simon has a psychic ability that he can't really control but it has been instrumental in helping detective Kate Morgan solve a number of cases Throughout all of the previous books Simon's abilities are getting stronger and the attraction between Simon and Kate is also growing This latest case seems to be someone aiming directly at Simon and it is frustrating him more and more It will take Kate and her team as well as Simon to figure out exactly what is going on Be prepared to read for hours as you won't want to put this one down.

I really enjoyed reading Simon Says Walk .
This story was definitely action packed and Suspenseful . This is a fantastic twisted suspense thriller that kept me captivated from start to finish . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

The writing in this book was so well done that it wasn't difficult at all to embrace Kate and Simon's sense of frustration with the case. Solving the mystery was never even 2 steps forward, 1 step back. It was more like a jigsaw puzzle with no frame. Since there was no frame of reference, where is the starting point? Even determining the commonality still kept the confusion going.

With Simon's abilities not being fully developed, that only served to add to everyone's frustration. I honestly didn't get a clue about the killer until the very end. The motive was even more abstract.

I enjoyed this book and series as it always keeps me thinking. Since I discovered the series with book 4 or 5, I will be playing catch up and hopefully be done by the time book 7 appears.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense/thriller books. Maybe I should say more of a mystery/suspense/thriller with a touch if romance. I would give this 4.5 stars. I had to read the motive a couple of times because it was a little convoluted to me.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via Booksprout.

That sneak peek from the previous book got me eager to get to this book and this book totally delivered, love the mystery, it keeps me wondering what is really going on because each case seem not connected yet connected by Simon, complicated and I like it, although a bit dragging in the middle and I felt the clue is pretty obvious in the middle so it's pretty easy to guess, but still I enjoyed it nonetheless, especially I got to experience new side of Simon's gift which is amazing and love more and more of Simon and Kate 's relationship and the topic is pretty dark and gruesome.

If you're looking for paranormal suspense romance, you should try this series.

I wish I would have had time to carve out enough time to read this book in one sitting!!! Every time life made me put it down, my mind was still trying to finish the story :-) This author knows how to wrote a story that grabs your attention, gives you chills, gets your heartrate in excercise speed and makes you go "Dang I want more" when you're done. Needless to say that I enjoyed the story, the characters and the twist at the end. The hint of things past and the nudge towards things to come puts this series of standalone but connected books high on my catch up and keep up list!.

Kate has been handed another case of a killer that turns out to be a serial killer, the victim is a woman that has hand delivered a note from the killer. The victim has been beat up, her feet are shredded, and she has small cuts all over her. As Kate and her team get to work on solving this one, more cases come in that take most of her team away to try to get them solved. As Kate is working on the serial killer case, Simon gets a message that makes no sense to him. Can Kate, Simon and the team figure it out before more victims die? If you love thrillers, then grab the book, I recommend it.

Another hit Simon Says Walk is a great combination of supernatural, suspense and romance as Simon and Kate works together to find a killer and secrets are revealed and the plot unfolds each new twist you will have you on the edge of your seat waiting for the killer to be revealed. Even though this book deals with some hard topics its done with taste and respect and to move the story line forward and developing a strong plot. I am looking forward to the next installment of this series.

The last case is closed and Kate is looking forward to a long weekend so Kate goes into work to tidy up some paperwork but gets requested by a walkin. After speaking with the victim, she has a case that needs to be closed fast. With a message for Simon things are very strange.
Simon has no idea and so far his gifts aren't talking but that changes just as fast. These new ones he has no idea what to do or how to read these. Seems his very long ago past has come back. Kiddnapping, murder and assault this story has it all. A very good read in the next chapter of this series.

Things get way closer to home with this one when Simon meets the danger face to face instead of via his abilities, so you now worry even more about the mental and physical toll he always goes through when he has previously helped Kate and her team. The balance of the suspense, mystery and danger along with the need for the killer to be caught and the changes Simons and Kates relationship continues to go through makes this the perfect read to get lost in.

Detective Kate and Simon make an interesting duo in this fascinating series. I think I may read these tales more to see what they are up to and how they will handle the challenges more than the actual mystery. Don't get me wrong, trying to solve a mystery is never dull nor is this one. Watching Kate develop her fairly new detective status and Simon dealing with his developing abilities is a winner once again!.

Dale is a new author to me and I love his books. Detective Kate Morgan isn't exactly thrilled with her latest case. A woman walks into the precinct the a message for Kate and seems beyond terrified. Unfortunately that means it will drag Simon into this mess whether he likes it or not. Simon doesn't want to get sucked into Kate's drama but if he can't solve this then he will be playing games with a madman.

Setting aside the fact that I personally do not believe in psychic abilities, I am loving this paranormal thriller series! While Kate is sometimes annoying with the way she treats Simon's "abilities," it feels like she is finally starting to understand that his abilities aren't as necessarily manageable as she would like. Each case appears to be unrelated, except by Simon's abilities. Ready for the next book in the series!

Kate and Simon are on another murder case. Simon is not having visions of this one but is dragged in as messages are being left.
Is he in danger? Why are these people being murdered and what is the connection?
Kidnapping, torture and murder are the basis of this case.
Can Kate and her team find the killer before someone else dies?
