A biography of Fred Astaire, the man one talent scout assessed as "can't act, can't sing, balding, can dance a little", but who went on to become one of the world's greatest popular dancers and film stars. An intriguing portrait of Astaire emerges from Tim Satchell's book.
Another interesting showbiz biography.Easy to read, informative, thorough and balanced.Perfect for readers of the Golden Years of Hollywood and showbiz history.
Oh, this was fine enough. Diverting. I feel I've got a handle on Fred, at least as he presented himself professionally. As to Fred personally, I'm not so sure. Is it possible he's too good to be true here? I wonder if something's been left out. Or disinfected. I don't think Fred was by any means a bastard. By I do think he was a man, and at times he comes off as a little more machine in these pages. No real love interest until his late twenties? Come now.
