It's bedtime, but Wooly the little lamb can't find his mother. Who will tuck him in? "I will, I will," said Mrs. Cow. "Don't you worry. I know how. Everything will be all right. I'll tuck you in real snug and tight." But Mrs. Cow wraps poor Wooly up so tight that he can't move. "STOP!" cries Wooly. "That's not right! Oh, who will tuck me in tonight?" Mrs. Cat, Mrs. Horse, Mrs. Pig, and Mrs. Duck all try, but their efforts prove disastrous, and Wooly grows more and more desperate. Mother Sheep returns at last and tucks her little one in just rightas only a mother can. From the team who created the best-selling Little Bunny's Sleepless Night comes another comic, yet sweet and satisfying, bedtime story.
"Who Will Tuck Me In Tonight?" by Carol Roth with illustrations by Valeri Gorbachev is a children's picture book written for younger kids ages about three to six. This book is about a little lamb who was ready to go to bed but could not find his mother to tuck him in. This lighthearted story explains how each of the other barnyard animals attempt to tuck him in such as the cow who tucks him in so snug he couldn't move and the cat who attempts to give him bedtime kisses but just licks him all over. In the end, the mother comes back and is able to tuck the little lamb in just right. The author of this story, Carol Roth, uses personification as she portrays animals as people. The illustrations are bright and colorful and will keep readers interested. I would recommend this book for young children who are learning to read because this book has little words on each page, and therefore can be a good starting story for children who are learning to read.
Miss 3 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
Hated the text - rhyming couplets broken by a non-rhyming verse and then rhyming couplets again. Also, orange juice and a cupcake is not a healthy bedtime snack!
This is a sweet story with fabulous illustrations. Woolly the lamb was ready for bed but he couldn’t find his mama sheep to tuck him in. Mrs. Cow, Mrs. Cat, Mrs. Pig, Mrs. Horse, Mrs Duck were each happy to help, but their methods were not at all suitable to Woolly. This rhyming story is cute and funny.
This book follows a lamb who is ready for bed, but her mother is not home yet. Many animals try and attempt to put Wooly to bed but it's not how his mom does. No one can tuck a child in like their mother can. It has a great rhyming and was one of my favorite books growing up!
One of our favorite read-alouds. Great rhyming story with fun characters and good opportunity for voices if you want it. Simple, and a great bedtime book.
This book is about a young sheep who is getting ready to go to sleep but he wants someone to tuck him into bed. I choose the book because it's a short read which would be good for a begining reader. The intended audience would be kindergarten or first grade. I would choose this for children to read during silent reading time and if they had questions about the book then they could ask me.
I really enjoy this story. It's about a lamb who can't find his mother so there's no one to tuck him in at night. Many other animal mothers try and tuck the lamb in but they don't do it right. The lamb becomes discouraged but then...his mother shows up to tuck him it! The story is really cute and the illustartions are delightful. They're ink drawings with watercolor washs. So many rhyming/goodnight stories are illustrated in heavier mediums with bold colors so it was lovely to see the lighter application used here.
"The sun was setting on the farm and Wolly the little lamb was sleepy..." So begins one of the most under-appreciated classics of our time. A little lamb searches for his mother. A community comes together to fill his need. A mother's love triumphs over all. Even despite it's blatant sexism and exclusionary undertones, Who Will Tuck Me in Tonight is a beautiful work which always brings a tear to my eye and a yawn to my lips.
This book has all the ingredients for a super participatory read-aloud; farm animals to identify and make noises, a refrain that the audience can learn and say along, and a question as to whether each mother substitute is suitable or not. Nobody seems to be able to put Woolly, the little lamb, to bed in the right way, until someone who knows him best returns to save the day. Not too twee, but reassuring nevertheless. Read in Soft Toy Sleepover 10/Jul/2012.
Who will tuck me in tonight, is about a little lamb that is looking for his mother to tuck him in for bed. He cannot find his mother so he asks for help from the other farm animals. Although the other animals help him, no one is able to do it just like his mother. This is such a cute book for children to learn and talk about different farm animals. It also repeats itself through the story and makes it fun for children to read along.
preschool story time; narrative skills, rhyming, phonological awareness, print motivation;
This book is about a little lamb who needs to be tucked in. All the other animals (cow, cat) try but can't do it the way little lamb needs. His mother finally returns and tucks him in the right way.
preschoolers will love the fact that they can identify with the little lamb in the story. Its not too wordy and great for children with parents at story time.
Fun option for a storytime, especially bedtime with preschool or early elementary age ranges in the audience. Woolly the lamb is sleepy and wants to be tucked in...animals from the farm give it a try, each in a different way that isn't quite right. Children will love the reassuring ending.
This book is about a little lamb who needs his mama to tuck him in to bed and while the other animals try - it's just not the same. So stinkin cute. I love this author and illustrator.
