I had several people tell me that this is a great book to give to expecting/new moms as a gift. I felt like I couldn't give it as a gift if I hadn't read it and thought it was helpful.

So I dove into and while of course I knew a lot of it being our second kid, I also found myself laugh and even getting choked up a bit. Like every other baby book out there, they do contradict themselves somewhat, saying one thing on page 1 and another one page 10 but it still helps a new mom get lots of perspectives.

I really liked the sections about postpartum depression and going back to work once you have a baby. It was very honest and something I think would be so helpful for moms to read and know they are normal. I will probably give it as a gift now with other essentials no one wants to buy new moms! :)

Good overview of mommyhood. Skewed towards urban, upwardly mobile working moms and those who intend to breastfeed. Definitely written from a specific viewpoint.

This book stresses the challenges of new motherhood and for mothers to be understanding towards themselves. I liked the first section the best, which covered infant care and had good general information and good product recommendations.

The anedoctal recollections from the Today staff are wonderful and will allow a new mother or expectant mother to create an understanding that she and her spouse are fallible as parents just like everyone else (i.e. they give great perspective).

The only reason I got this book is because it was one of the newer looking ones my library had available in its very limited preggo section. I was surprised, this book actually had a lot of good tips.

The best thing about this particular parenting book is that several points of view are offered per issue. No hard-nosed rights and wrongs are to be found in these pages. What a relief.
