This case has Stoneybrook on pins and needles …

The pink-and-white awning of Stoneybrook’s newest shop, Patchwork Quilts, has locals seeing red. Regardless of the warm welcome the town gave her, Mabel Bailey seems bent on sewing the seeds of competition with Frannie’s Quilt Stop. Slashing prices is one thing, but stealing quilt designs is a crafting faux pas.

When Hadley finds Mabel dead in her quilt shop, the townspeople have to face the terrible truth that one of their own might have taken her out. Or was she running from someone in her past? Honestly, the Stoneybrook rumor mill is out of control, and Hadley’s having a hard time figuring out the truth.

With Paul out of town, and Kevin preoccupied with his campaign for sheriff, Hadley might be the only one who can solve this case. But is even Hadley unprepared for the dark reasoning behind Mabel’s death? Because it’s about to get even worse than it seams.

Recipes included: Meyer lemon marmalade and bergamot-honey syrup.

Eryn Scott is the author of heartwarming cozy mysteries. Her novels feature close friendships and strong families because those are the most important things in her life -- a little humor doesn't hurt either.

She calls the Pacific Northwest home and doesn't plan on changing that anytime soon. Eryn loves to hike, horseback ride, knit, ski, and read. She believes musicals are the greatest thing since lattes, even though she's not particularly good at singing or dancing -- hey, a girl can dream, right?

Her first cozy mystery series, Pepper Brooks, is based on some of the greats in classic literature. Each book features a different author from Shakespeare to Austen. Eryn's newest series is set in a little town called Stoneybrook. The Stoneybrook Mysteries follow local jam-maker Hadley James as she solves mysteries in her town's year-round farmers market. From deceased knitters to sabotaged florists, these crafty citizens keep Hadley and her twin brother, a deputy sheriff, on their toes. Pebble Cove Teahouse Mysteries are great for readers who love a hint of paranormal with their mysteries. These books feature a tiny town tucked between craggy coastline and rocky shores with quirky characters of both the living and non-living variety. Look for new releases from all three of these series in 2022 as well as Eryn Scott's new cozy series.

Who Killed Mabel Bailey ? . . .

This is a clever cozy mystery with likable characters and a story line that flows well to keep the reader entertained while trying to figure out the mystery. Why was the victim, Mabel Bailey, owner of Patchwork Quilts, so aggressively going after Frannie’s Quilt Stop business? Did Frannie become so angry that she wanted to remove Mabel as her competition? Or was someone else with an unrelated grievance from the past trying to silence Mabel?

With Paul on vacation and Kevin busy campaigning for Sheriff, Hadley is joined by the elderly quilting ladies (you will love them!) to find out who killed Mabel. Grab your copy and find some answers!

Drama, mystery, turmoil, and suspense will keep the reader turning the pages. This series is well-written and well-paced, holding the reader’s attention from beginning to end.

This is another case for are cat loving, jam making amateur sleuth and like the previous books in the series I loved it. The characters are what makes this such a special series and one I can't get enough of (which is good because the author also releases them on audio, guess what I will be getting). With her best friend Suze and her brother Paul away on holiday it is up to the elderly quilting group to play sidekicks for Hadley during her investigation and what a hoot they are. I enjoyed the way they tackled the rumours and social media. Even meeting Hadley's school nemesis was fun. I absolutely loved the sweet ending and the romance side to the story, which is unusual for me as I am normally all about the mystery. The mystery was good and I never even had the killer on my radar because there was plenty of other suspects. There's a lot going on with the murder investigation and running a campaign for the new sheriff and it held my attention until the very last word. Just a good mystery and a nice addition to a wonderful series created by a talented author.
With two quilting shops now open in the small town of Stoneybrook, jam maker Hadley expected there to be some fierce competition on market day but she never expected the sweet elderly shop owner Frannie to get into a loud argument with the newest shop owner. This makes her the prime suspect when Mabel is found dead. Even her closest friends think she might have been involved. With Hadley's brother out of town and the deputy Kevin busy running for the sheriff's job frannie's friends ask Hadley to investigate. She is reluctant to get involved until it looks like the only way Kevin has of winning the election is by solving the murder. Can Hadley and the quilters find the reason behind the murder? Or will Hadley's school nemesis coming back on the scene throw up even more problems.

When Patchwork Quilts opens in the small town of Stoneybrook not all the residents are happy. The ladies who open and operate the original quilt store in town are upset that the new owner, Mabel Bailey, is copying some of their own designs and selling them at a lower price both at her store and the town market.
Hadley, who is the main character, is at the market selling items from her own store when she sees at fight break out between Mabel and Frannie, who works with the original quilt store.
Hadley is cat sitting for a friend and when she goes to take care of that cat, she sees a cat in Mabel's store window. When she goes to check on the cat in Mabel's window, she finds Mabel dead. Mabel has been stabbed with some expensive scissors. Can Frannie have snapped or is the killer someone with a different motive?
Eryn Scott once again does a fabulous job of bringing the small town of Stoneybrook and its residents to life. There is plenty of suspense along with some yummy food mentioned that made me hungry. Two of the recipes are included. I always like a little food with murder mystery.
The author does a good job of mentioning some information for the backstory, but you will want to read all this series in order.
I have become a huge fan of Eryn Scott's and enjoyed other series. If you want novels to entertain you, look no further than this talented author.

I'm a huge book addict, and I will have to place this book in my list as a future reread. As I love to reread favorite books. Hadley is such an adorable character full of life. She has a special way of looking at things when it comes to solving things. As a business lady, she looks out for clients. I'm from Florida and now want to try Florida Meyers Lemons. Kevin the deputy is a nice match with Hadley are solving the murder. A nice touch was adding the Quilting, the shops and the lovely ladies to the mix. I now want to try my hands at making a quilt. I highly recommend sitting down, sipping a chilly glass of Lemonade. I'm going to go back and read all her other books in this series.

This was another great whodunnit from Eryn Scott! She is one of my favorite authors and her cozy mysteries are always great.

I love going back to Stoneybrook because it is a cute Washington town with plenty of charm and quirky townsfolk. Hadley has lived there all her life and it's fun to see her solve these mysteries.

This is a quick, easy, and entertaining read with a mystery that will keep you guessing with plenty of small town fun and even a little romance. I can't recommend this book or series enough!

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.

In A Patchwork Case, the tenth book in the Stoneybrook Mystery series, the author wraps readers in the snuggly warmth of lifelong friendships and close-knit families that unite in support of Deputy Kevin Daniels in his run for County Sherriff. Solving a recent murder could synch the election, but the local quilting society thinks the deputy could use some help. As much as Hadley James' would like to stay out of police business, there's no denying that the owner of Pretty Jam Good has a knack for solving crimes. When clues point unfavorably to the quilt shop owner, Frannie, even the members of the quilting society have serious doubts about her innocence. But she's definitely not the only one on the suspect list.

A Patchwork Case is just as sweet and entertaining as all previous books in the series with endearing characters and multiple plot twists, but the surprise ending makes this book extra special. I highly recommend this book for readers who welcome warm fuzzies and syrupy sweet endings.

Welcome to Stoneybrook, a charming town with quirky characters and interesting businesses. A mystery is at the forefront when a recent business owner is murdered. It is fun to read about Hadley’s attempts to figure out the various clues that hopefully might lead up to solving this mystery. Throw in some small-town political rivalry as well as delightful pets and you’ve got yourself a book worth reading that holds your interest.
I enjoy the author’s style of writing and highly recommend A Patchwork Case.

as the race for Sheriff intensifies, and Founders Day rolls around, things get intense with neighbors.

A quilter was apparently involved with some aggressive encounters with several folks, and our favorite jam maker finds her dead

hidden secrets and old foes pop up, along with a cute romantic gesture or two

Throughout this book I kept thinking I knew "who dunnit?" - but then a little bit further into the book I'd completely change my mind. The denoument was completely unexpected, which is something I truly appreciate in a mystery. This is a great book for readers that want the mystery to continue to the end of the book. Well done Eryn Scott!.

Eryn Scott is a well established writer and darn good at her hometown mysterys in this series are filled with family and small town love and respect ,clean full of an array of vibrant , colorful ,charming and quirky characters. Yet it wouldn't be a mystery without the schemers and odd haters, all drawing you in wanting to get to know them better while the mystery entices you further and the plot filled with small town drama and adventure of its own carries you throughout out making you want to turn page after page picking up clues here and there until you reach its unexpected and climatic conclusion. The story keeps you entranced its really hard to set down once you get started reading. I read it in one enjoyable sitting. Acquire "A Patchwork Case " book ten in the Stoneybrook Mystery so that you yourself can enjoy it as much as I have.

This was a good mystery. Hadley finds a dead body. She tries to figure out who did. While also dealing with a person from her past. Thankfully she solves the murder and all is well for now.

I missed Suze and Paul in this one. I don't like Kitty. I really don't understand the long simmering feud between Hadley and Amber. I'm a fan of this series and a fan of quilting cozies, but this one just didn't gel and come together for me. Maybe it needed more pectin!

I was kindly given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I love the Stoneybrook mystery series and have binged listened to them this year so I was really pleased to listen to the latest book.
Another wonderful mystery set in Stoneybrook with vivid descriptions throughout that make me feel part of the town. I would love to live in Stoneybrook...although I would probably be slightly fearful for my life given the murder rate.
This is a lovely cozy mystery, I love the characters throughout this series and that it has evolved and involved more characters as the series goes on.
There were enough twists and turns to keep me guessing throughout and I think I worked out who the killer was at around the same time as Hadley did.
The narrator has a pleasing voice and I enjoy listening to her, she differentiates her reading tone well to describe when different characters are talking without sounding silly.
I honestly love the Stoneybrook series, it encompasses so many things that I enjoy- mysteries, crafts, sports, the outdoors... I really enjoyed the book and can't wait for the next installment.

Oh boy does this book have big plots happening!

With each book in this series the world expands, and we are encompassing bigger political players, plus more town folk. Hadley handles it all with grace, and honestly, it's about time she joins the detective force herself. I love that she gets to confront more about her childhood, and come to happy endings with it. Such a small town thing to happen. lol

There's a lot to unpack in this book, and I'm afraid if I let out an inch of it, it'll be spoilers galore. So I'm just going to say, mysteries where the elderly community is getting involved have to be some of my favorite. They are all without filters, and living their best retired lives. It's perfection.

So many twists in this book, resolved conflicts, and shady sheriff antics. With each new installment, my love for these characters grows deeper. The ending though. Happy tears and overjoyed excitement for Hadley and her circle. I loved all that we uncover about Paul and his partner, such a great dynamic to explore.

Even though this is book 10, the series never feels over done, or too murderous. Let me forever live in Stoneybrook with all the cats.

Good

When the owner of a new quilt shop in town is found murdered, suspicion falls upon the ladies of the quilting society.
With Paul away on vacation, Hadley is determined to help Kevin, whose campaign for sheriff would only benefit from a solid win in his column…

This is the first book in the series which has Hadley working closely with the other Stoneybrook Deputy, since her twin is away. We get to know Kevin a bit better (a positive thing) and see just why Paul thinks Kevin would be a great sheriff! We also get to see just why Hadley is such a good investigator, and there are some fun family and friend interactions in this book. Oh, and a new cat too!

This is an enjoyable, and feel-good series, with a clean romance, as well as a cosy setting. Fans of cosy mystery will enjoy the small town ambience and the enjoyable antics of Hadley’s fellow Stoneybrookians.

Although I'm not usually fond of books where the main female character tries to solve the murder, this series handles that process pretty well. Her twin is one of the deputies/ investigators, and they welcome Hadley's help. It's a great series.

Amazon synopsis:

Regardless of the warm welcome the town gave her, Mabel Bailey seems bent on sewing the seeds of competition with Frannie’s Quilt Stop. It’s always good to visit with the folks in Stoneybrook, even when there’s another murder to solve. So many wonderful characters, it’s like visiting with old friends. Great families and friendships, working together to help Deputy Kevin solve the crime while he’s running against that awful incumbent for County Sheriff. There is no shortage of suspects and murder victim Mabel’s past and Hadley’s past collide during the investigation. Richard the cat was a show stealer for sure. Surprises at the end because I sure didn’t guess the killer and another surprise I did guess. Definitely can’t wait for the next book.

Eeeek! Another great book in this series! The ending was so perfect and sweet. I normally guess the culprit, but this one was not as easy. No spoilers though. This book we see more of Gran and Kitty, which was so great. I missed Suze and Paul though. But it was still a nice switch of secondary characters while still incorporating them all. Also a new character to enjoy, although that is a complicated relationship. I like that it ended well with the new character. The case was interesting amd wound up being two cases in one. I can't say enough about how much I love this series.

Lighthearted fun!

It is good to be back in Stoneybrook! There's another mystery foe Hadley to unravel; too bad her deputy twin brother, Paul, and bestie, Suze, are out of town. At least Luke is available to help wrangle a bunch of geriatric wannabe sleuths! There are lighthearted moments within this surprisingly complex murder mystery, and the killer and motive are unexpected. "A Patchwork Case" is a good choice for fans of clean cozy mysteries.

Another fun visit to Stoneybrook! The only downside was that Paul and Suze weren't part of this story as they were out of town while it took place. Hopefully the foursome will be back together for the next installment. I still enjoyed the ride and love spending time with characters that feel like friends. Looking forward to the next one!

Rounded from 2.5

Better than the last one but there a lot of mistakes that should’ve been picked up on. Wrong names used in conversations, constant repetition of actions or reminders of what characters have said. It’s not necessary and slows the pace of the story.

Going to give this series one last try with the next book but it maybe the end for me.
