Dan Wakefield gives us an insider's look into the shared experiences of those fortunate enough to participate in his course on writing one's spiritual autobiography. He says of this undertaking, rather astutely, "I believe strongly that the common sharing by men and women of our deepest experience enlarges the humanity of us all."
His exploration of the spiritual life, culminating in this course and the book which outlines the process and purpose thereof, reminds us all of the common spiritual journey upon which we have all embarked, albeit from very different places and for very different reasons. And, even as I have discovered in my own experience, he assures us that "spirituality exists in the most commonplace details of everyday life."
The beauty of such an idea is that no one is disqualified from possessing a spiritual life. Neither are they excluded from the invitation, discovery, and enjoyment of both exploring it and writing about it. I myself have begun to undertake that very same journey.
Mr. Wakefield will be one of my trusted guides in that endeavour. Thank you, sir, for your courage in pursuing and sharing your own spiritual discoveries in this volume.
