Ruth earned a B.A. in American Thought and Civilization from George Washington University and an M.A. in American Studies from the University of Maryland. Although she always wanted to become a writer, Glick was convinced that her lack of spelling skills meant that her goal was unattainable. As a stay-at-home mother, she took a community college course to help her choose a career. The course made it very clear that writing was her primary interest. Glick began writing articles for newspapers and magazines, but after several years decided to try writing fiction. Her first book, a kids' science fiction book, was finally purchased by Scholastic Inc..
Since then, Glick has become a highly successful author of over 50 romantic suspense and paranormal novels. Night Ecstasy:
Was okay in the start but the "insect bite" and the "magic pill" just wrecked it for me. I did like seeing the soft side of a 300 year old vampire, though.
Velvet Night:
How is it okay to sneak into someone's bedroom when they're asleep and do "stuff" to them? And then the girl falls in love with this perv? I liked how he never lied to her and told her he was a vampire.
Midnight Court:
The twist at the end was really good but the whole story was a little too vague for me.
This book can be a good beginning for someone just starting to read Vampire novels. For readers of Anita Blake or Sookie Stackhouse novels, it is almost too vanilla!

I only read the York story and it was bad. Jules, a vamp, can't have sex, but still seeks companionship but has to be worried about killing his women. Taylor, is an artist, who needs a new relationship to keep her muse fresh. These 2 embark on a relationship that was just odd and involved viagra. Not sure why I didn't stop reading.

These stories left much to be desired. Maybe because they were so short. If I had to pick a favorite, I would say the first story by Rebecca York was the one that I liked the most.

Enjoyed this book. The stories were very interesting and eerie. I like how each tale put a different twist on the vampire lore. Each story was very electrifying with passion and primal attraction. It truly had me not wanting to put it down.😊

3 stories of vampiric love...
1st is Taylor and Jules... Jules is a 300 year old, lonely vampire - not knowing anyone else of his kind... he currently lives in New Orleans... as a youth, he livedon the streets of London until an aristocratic vampire brought him home and raised him, educated him, and turned him to vampire when he was dying of TB... in this mythology, vampires rarely have the physical response for traditional intercourse... thier hunger and desire is satisfied by taking blood when a woman is climaxing... he has many laisons with women, but short lived as he would hurt them to conitinue to take blood - so he would wipe their memories of him... Taylor contacts him at the request of a past laison, whose memories he did not totally replace... she is an artist, who does her best work when passion is new with a man... she askes him to take her to some of the seedier sections of New Orleans, to inspire her... he does so, but she finds more reaction as he touches her, or kisses the side ofher neck... and he is enamored of her, wishing to be closer to her than to anyone else he has been with... he brings her to climax the 1st night, then takes her home... wanting her to freely choose him... she paints up a storm, and falls into his arms when he returns... he clouds her mind as he has sex with her... taking control, mimicking penile entrance with his fingers... and takes her blood... and the pattern repeats... and during the day, she paints and sells her paintings, and wonders about not having clear memories... she goes to him one night, and he wants to have full intercourse withher... he leaves to take blood for 12 men, and comes to her engorged... they make full love all night, without his fogging her mind... and the next day she wonders... and she thinks vampire, looking at the different marks onher body... and she buys a video camera... and he takes her in his usual way, and she watches the video, and he comes to her, and agrees to stay away from her... and he watches her through her window.. and her paintings are dark... and after a week he awakens to her presence, and she tells him she is not ready to give up on him... and wants to be with him fully... and he risks himself and makes love to her as he ususally does without fogging her mind... and she accepts him... and she returns the next night with viagra... and low and behold... it works...
Next story is of Vickie and Pete... Vickie has returned to her grandparent's cabin in the Virginia woods as a break from her life as an NYPD cop... and she meets Pete, a 'new' vampire (8 months old), DEA agent, in the mountains looking for a meth lab... there is instant attraction.. he comes to her in her sleep and makes out with her and takes some blood... then goes out to find the lab, and gets his foot caught in a bear trap... she wakes up restless and decides a walk will do her good... she finds him, rescues him... and he takes more of her blood (he is weak after all), and tells her he is a vampire... with his healed ankle as proof... and she figures out where the methlab must be (underground cave)... he & his team take them down... he returns to her and they plan a life together...
third story is harder to understand... Christopher and Elizabeth, and a castle with the infamous Midnight Court... Christopher is hedonistic, into pleasures of sex and blood, but he does not take so much that it kills his victims... Elizabeth is a vampire hunter (her brother, a vampire) and she uses the Midnight Court to kill vampires... and she brings in an innocent that looks like an angel;, but is of the devil? it didn't make sense - to entice christopher, but so that she can show him he belongs to her... and she does, and he finds his soul mate... hmmmm

It's funny. I glanced over some of the other reviews and am once again reminded why I'm not a big fan of "romance" novels. My tastes seem to go opposite of the other reviewers.
The story I enjoyed most was "Midnight Court" for its complicated storyline of court intrigue. Dante was not your typical romance character in that you didn't get constant descriptions of his hunkiness. He was cynical, somewhat bored, and clueless as to what was really going on. Since he was the main character we were following, it left us having to puzzle out what was going on. A challenge that proved interesting to pursue.
Rebecca York's story, "Night Ecstasy", was sensual and light entertainment.
"Velvet Night" is the type of story that makes me just a little crazy. Tough, strong girl falls for hunky man she knows nothing about, but has to have him and becomes a weak, sniveling girl in his presence.
The hardest thing I think that an author of short stories has to confront is character development. It's challenging enough in a novel, but in a short story one has to find a way to give depth to a character in a very short period of time. Out of the three, I think "Midnight Court" carried it off the best, with her character Dante. In the first few paragraphs we had a good view of how his mind worked (and he didn't come of as some vapid lust-filled human or creature!).

Night Ecstasy - Rebecca York
I found this short story awful. Taylor (heroine) calls Jules (the vampire) out of the blue after relocating to New Orleans. They meet and hit it off immediately. On the second date, they're already sleeping together and in love. She is a painter and paints explicit scenes of each encounter with Jules. She doesn't know he's a vampire and she interprets his bite mark as insect bites. I realize this is a short story but come on. What is she a freaking idiot? I could only stomach 44 of the 86 pages before I gave up and went to the Rosemary Laurey tale.

Pete Falcon is my kinda man - kickass, sensitive and sexy as hell. This story was good and would have been great as a full length novel where the characters could have been fleshed out a little better.

The first story, "Night Ecstasy" by Rebecca York, was an OK read. The Viagra part was a lot to swallow, no pun intended. The story would have been great if it had been a little longer with a little more time for the couple to fall in love. But all in all it was definitely the best story.
The second story, "Velvet Night" by Rosemary Laurey, was passable. Again it would have been a lot better read if there was a more in depth plot, with the couple falling in love a little more slowly. It would have been even better if she would have been shot and him turned her. However, I do get that these are short stories, but the writer could have expanded it more.
The third story, "Midnight Court" by Linda Thomas Sundstrom, makes me wonder how this author was ever chosen for this type of book. It was down right awful! The story line is very tough to follow. Yes I did eventually get certain points, but there was no romance, no nothing. At least in the first stories there was romance. The story made no sense.

This was signed for me by both Rebecca York and Rosemary Laurey so I decided to give it a try. It was ok. The first story was the best because the thought of a thousand year old vampire being introduced to Viagra had me choking back laughs as I read it on my lunch break.
The second story was good but not chuckle worthy. Girl meets newly turned vamp neighbor and they solve a meth lab run by yokels.
The third story I just kind of skimmed through. It was confusing and the heroine was not clearly defined.

The first story, "Night Ecstasy" was pretty good. I liked our vampire and enjoyed the story. Nothing too drastically different from many of the vampire love stories I have read...
The second story, "Velvet Night" was again a standard tale. I liked the two characters, but nothing rocked my world.
The third story, "Midnight Court", was fantastic! different than the first two stories. Twists and turns, intrigue and vampires...just a nicely told story.

Not a bad trio of vampire tales, but not great either. The first two entries were pretty humdrum and I was struggling to finish. Lots of steamy sex throughout but I`m one of those fuddy-duddy types that needs more than hot sex and weak plots. I like hot sex and strong plots. I`m very glad I pushed on to the last story (written by Linda Thomas-Sundstrom)because it was the best of the three and pushed this trilogy from the 2 stars I had been planning to give it to a 3 star book.

Dear God. I picked this book up at the library on a whim. I truly wish I hadn't. I started to read the first story, Rebecca York's Night Ecstasy. Vampire bites as insect bites? Seriously? It only went downhill from there. I cringed my way through this story, finally just skipping to the last chapter. I really should have just given it up as a lost cause. Vamps on Viagra. Lollipops. Oh, dear God. Soooooooooooo damned bad.

The first and last story wasn't very good. the first one was more of a comedy on vampire fantasy and the last one I couldn't finish reading bc it was so weird and confusing. I gave up but velvet night by rosemary was really good and left me wanting to know more.

I would give this book a 4 stars, but I really disliked the last story - to the point I couldn't finish it. The first two stories were very enjoyable though.

Rebecca York and Rosemary Laurey's stories were the bomb... I couldn't get into the last one for some reason. I believe people should read this book for the first two... awesome stories!

August 30, 2011I loved Night Ecstacy. I was crazy about Velvet Night but it made me mad that it ended like that. It didnt sound right ending like that. Hopefully it will be finished. I havent read Midnight Court.

Fun collection of novellas. I liked some stories more than others but I really enjoyed trying new authors and visiting fun new paranormal worlds built by some talented authors.
