Awesome book, with some fascinating facts about the history of Loch Ness.
One of the most interesting facts is Loch Ness Lake is 900 feet deep. That's almost as tall as the Eiffel Tower........WOW

I enjoy reading books like this with my 10 year old, who is an avid believer in the Loch Ness Monster. I learned a lot about possible sightings, scientific findings, and other "monsters" believed to have been found in other bodies of water. It's definitely an informative and interesting book.

This is the first book in this series I’ve read. It was pretty good overall. I can definitely see this as a good classroom library book. A lot of neat information in a short chapter book.

I'm kind of in love with this book in the series of What is/What was about what we know about the Loch Ness Monster. Somehow I am enamored with the story I didn't know I needed to be obsessed about yet the presentation of evidence, information, history, and science that Korte details in this short book makes me want to 1) travel to Loch Ness and bring a camera, 2) learn more about all the cryptids that exist, 3) and while not necessarily become a crytozoologist, maybe not make fun of those who believe in the yet-to-truly-be-proven animals like Bigfoot and the Yeti for instance.

I learned new details and rewound on a few that I already had heard but I didn't know as much about the area itself that Korte explains at great length.

I have yet to find a WhoHQ book I haven't loved. Even as an adult, I am always captivated by the books in this series and constantly learning something new. Like the other books in this series, this book is broken down into easy to follow chapters that outline the history and current day legend in a kid-friendly fashion. However, not wanting to ruin the magic of mystery, it never explicitly states that the Loch Ness Monster is most likely not real. What would be the fun in that? Instead it keeps the magic alive by giving all the known facts and letting kids decide for themselves.

This was a fascinating read- I learned a lot about the Loch, the monster and the people who witnessed the sightings. Questions remain about whether or not this creature actually exists today or went extinct with the dinosaurs.
I guess my understanding of the Bible and what the book of Job says about the leviathan makes me wonder whether we don’t have a great understanding of the ocean so it’s possible that Nessie exists but is hidden in the murky waters.

Kids who are interested in mythical and unusual creatures of the world will enjoy reading this one. Timelines and bibliography at the end of the book. Highly recommended for Grades 4-6.

There are lots of theories about Nessie and lots of stories of sightings. Some can be explained away as hoaxes and others leave the reader wondering about the truth of the story. This was a good compilation of what is known about the Loch Ness Monster. You will have to determine your answers for yourself.

I thought that this book was a good way to introduce the old legend of the Loch Ness monster in a way that is fun and interesting for kids. I thought that the text was simple and easy to read and the illustrations were very colorful.

I did not know anything about Cryptids or about the Loch Ness monster before reading this book. I’ve only heard about Yetis and about the Bigfoot in references. The book has helped me understand what Cryptids are and about Lock Ness.

My thoughts: All cryptids are real. Like how does something get this much traction over this many years without having any evidence. They're out there. We aren't alone. So many people across cultures and locations have beliefs on these things.

Another very good book in the WHOHQ series. I have read about the Loch Ness monster numerous times before but this little book gives a very concise history of trying to track Nessie that sure beats tracking it down in newspaper/magazine/internet articles. Clearly written and well illustrated.
