And now everything has changed.

With secrets swirling around the building, Stefania finds it hard to know who to trust, until she forms a close bond with two other new recruits. Ailsa is a gifted radio operator and Fran a logistics genius, and the two women help Stefania navigate her new world of codebreaking. But even though Stefania’s skills are crucial to the war effort, her position is put in jeopardy when Italy joins the opposite side of the battle – and her beloved fiancé becomes the enemy.

Her heart belongs to Matteo, but she knows she must do whatever it takes to help England win the war. So when she is asked to go on a classified mission, she jumps at the chance. But it soon becomes clear there’s a traitor in their midst, and all eyes turn to her…

I wanted to be an author from the moment I could pick up a pen and was writing boarding-school novels by the age of nine. I made the early mistake of thinking I ought to get a ‘proper job’ and went into Factory Planning – a career that gave me some wonderful experiences, amazing friends and even a fantastic husband, but didn’t offer much creative scope. So when I stopped to have children I took the chance to start the ‘improper job’ of writing. During the baby years I wrote in the brief gaps provided by sleeps, playschools and obliging grandparents, publishing short stories and serials in all the women’s magazines.

But my ultimate aim was to write longer fiction and several years ago I published a series of successful historical novels under the pseudonym Joanna Courtney. I will continue to publish under that name but am delighted, as Anna Stuart, to also be able to write contemporary fiction. Bonnie and Stan is a true to life romance set in both the present day and sixties Liverpool and Four Minutes to Save a Life is a domestic drama about how small acts of kindness might just change the world!

It was 1940 when three young women stepped from the train, strangers to one another but soon to be close friends. Their arrival at Bletchley Park was shrouded in mystery, the security intense. Then there was the Official Secrets Act, a document they each had to sign before they were told anything. But soon they were into work which could alter the course of the war. Steffi Carmichael with her talent for languages; Aisla from a small island off Scotland's coast who'd never been away from home before, knew a lot about radio operating, and Fran was a logistics genius. All would help immensely.

As the weeks and months moved forward the friends worked in different huts, until first Steffi, then Aisla were sent to overseas outposts. Steffi to Cairo and Aisla to Malta. It was hoped their closer proximity to the front line would aid in the first hand knowledge that was so far escaping them. But did they have a spy among them? The Germans were too accurate - they must find who was passing information on...

The Bletchley Girls is another exceptional historical novel, based on fact, by Anna Stuart which I thoroughly enjoyed. The three main characters were from different walks of life, but when they were drawn together, they proved how well they could work, and how they could stand up to the officiousness of some of the suits. Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. .. of course it is a.ww2 fiction, with all the disasters , bombing , dying, suffering. But this book has also the strong friendship between female characters, that i really like in books. . You can see the growth in the female Main characters throughout rhe book. From shy til sassy. From a little bit of a snob to a relaterte person. It also has a little sprinkle of lgbt. What I did not like in this book , was the ending. It felt rushed. But I still highly recommend this book.
Thank you to netgalley for letting me read this e arc in exchange for an honest opinion

Three women sign up as spies. Recruited as codebreakers, the women in this story were among 10,000 who were assigned to various locations, and women made up the majority in this organization. In this enthralling read by Anna Stewart. we meet Stefania Carmichael who is from Rome, and she is currently engaged to Matteo. We also meet new friends Alisia and Fran and while at first the three women room together, one travels to Malta and the other to Egypt, all with the same goal, to thwart the enemy at any chance possible.

While World War II was a devastating time for all, but this story shows the strength of friendship of the women and other relationships that they form. Honestly, I had not heard of Bletchley Park before reading this novel, so I am quite pleased to have had this opportunity. Learning about a network that trained and trusted thousands of women was very much appreciated by me.

With this book, I love how three different women from different backgrounds found the strong bond of friendship during such a difficult time in history. This book also gave one character's relationship a daring one, considering the time frame involved.

To further make this book such a worthy read, I definitely recommend reading the Author's Note at the end of the book, as it contains valuable information as to the background of Bletchley Park, and also the research that preceded the writing of this intriguing read. This is a story of secrets, of friendship and also one of hope, courage and love. Anna Stuart has done a fine job with this book and I look forward to reading her next one.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

The Bletchley Girls by Anna Stuart is a marvellous historical novel that I just could not put down.
Whilst World War II was undoubtedly absolutely awful, it did provide opportunities for woman. Previously expected to marry and reproduce, now women could have positions of responsibility and really make a difference to the war effort, and even the outcome of the war.
Bletchley Park was a place of brilliant minds and unique skill sets. The reader follows three young women with varying talents, all of whom are heading to Bletchley Park. As they become firm friends their lives go in different directions as the BP girls are sent where they are most needed.
The reader sees the war at home, in Malta and in Egypt. All are fighting the same war. There are some truly terrifying moments.
We witness the skill and bravery of the girls as they adapt to their situations and fight the war using their brains.
The characters are all well drawn, likable and realistic. As Anna Stuart led them through the war, the reader can ‘see’ the situations through their eyes.
Love is important. Whatever else we may lose is replaceable but family and friends aren’t. We need to tell those we love that we love them through actions and words.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Bletchley Girls. It was an exciting, powerful read. I always enjoy Anna Stuart’s novels and look forward to reading much more by her.
I received a free copy via Net Galley. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

I loved this moving and inspirational book about 3 women who played crucial intelligence roles within Bletchley Park during WW2. Despite the atrocities of the war, I loved how willing they were to work ferociously hard but to also play hard and enjoy life as they could see how precious each moment is.

I took to all 3 characters immediately and couldn’t even name a favourite. The friendship vibes hugged me hard from the pages, and I adored the unbreakable bond these 3 strangers formed.

The history was fascinating, I’ve read a lot of WW2 books, but I felt like a learnt a lot from this book about what went on behind the battlefields. Not just code breaking, but radio transmitting and intelligence gathering and storage. And some of what hindered progress was eye opening.

I enjoyed the settings from the English county-side, to Malta, to Egypt, I was swept away with the horror, heartbreak and beauty in each.

Definitely worth reading if you enjoy books about the power of friendship, WW2 fiction and the sheer strength of women working together.

First I’d like to thank NetGalley and Bookoture for providing this ARC version of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have to say I believe I am now an Anna Stuart fan. This novel was my introduction to this author and her style of writing. It is difficult to tell a story from one POV and this book has 3. Ms. Stuart weaved their stories together seamlessly and I enjoyed it. We have Fran, Steffie, and Alisa all very different women who forge a beautiful friendship and become a family. While there is some romance it does not overwhelm the story, though with one couple I am not very sure how I feel about how their relationship ends up.

I enjoyed the fact that we were not limited to only Bletchley Park, but we were taken to Egypt and Malta as well. Being historical fiction I was pleasantly surprised to learn a little more about WWII instead of the same basic facts we were taught in school. The book starts off a little on the slow side but when the action comes in as each girl is facing the horrors of war, it really makes you feel like you were there with them. In a way I was sad to see the ‘action’ end. These parts with the code breaking, bombings, etc really had me glued to the page.

My main complaint is that I feel the ending was kind of rushed and I would have liked more. The author could have also left out the entire last chapter. Ending it at chapter 39 I think would have made it feel more like a conclusion. Chapter 40 as I said before just makes it all seem so rushed.

All in all I enjoyed reading this novel and I look forward to finding another Anna Stuart book to read.

I have read several books about Bletchley Park and this was a good one. I loved the friendship the three women developed. I was a little surprised with the "slips" they made regarding confidentiality. That was more than a "no, no" at BP. Overall, an enjoyable read. I always enjoy Anna Stuart's work.

Having read the Bletchley Girls series in previous books, I did not find this one as well written. This story covered three particular girls. Because they were sent to three different locations, the story jumped back and forth between the three making it sometimes difficult to follow. I did find some interesting information in it which kept me reading through it. I also felt that one scenario did not fit the time period. This is book one in a two book series, and I don't plan to read the second book.

What an intriguing story! A novel that will make you take a second look at the Bletchley Girls and their major contribution in hastening the end of World War II. It offers an original angle on the people involved. It is a story of secrets, of course, as it was a secret operation. But the friendship between these women who take centre stage, is heart-warming as they offer each other support through thick and thin. The letters they write maintain a continuing thread of hope. We see their dedication, courage, love, forgiveness, survival, loyalty and loss but also deserved moments of joy.

The story opens with each lead character feeling a sense of mystery once approaching Bletchley Park for the first time. For it is the highest level of secrecy they will experience. These girls have a lot to learn, digest and protect as they find their position in the domain of government secrets.

I was filled with intrigue and stayed fixed to the pages wanting to know what would happen to our heroines Steffie, Fran and Ailsa for although they meet for the first time at Bletchley Park and get to know each other, two of these women are granted missions offshore while one remains on the home front. We are provided three points of view which add wonderful layers and insight to the story’s fabric—a cloth that is woven strong but where threads wander into domains of unfamiliarity or new territories. Which is basically evidence of the novel’s success for it is an original take on Bletchley Park, well fashioned and firm with accurate historical details. But this story does not stay behind the four walls of Bletchley Park, it ventures beyond to hazardous locations.

The first chapter, carefully constructed, allows us to meet the three ladies individually who become the story tellers of the novel. Even with three perspectives, the flow is seamless. The transition is well signposted with a name at the head of each chapter. The dialogue is genuine and you never forget who is speaking. It was easy to put myself in the characters’ shoes, too, and to empathise. I felt their sadness, fears and passions. The settings were vivid and I was easily transported to each location in the plot through Anna’s exceptional descriptions.

If I had to pick a favourite character that would be hard. I admired each of the three women for various reasons. Steffie is the daughter of major general with a gift for languages. She is filled with determination, fortitude and fearlessness. Her love for Matteo is endearing but it puts her in a bad position. These two were together before the war, engaged to be married but shortly before Germany defeats France, Italy becomes an ally of Germany and this divides the lovers in the world’s eyes making her fiance part of the enemy forces. Will her loyalty be questioned during her valuable work in Egypt?

Determined Ailsa is a skilled radio operator with a thirst to see the world. She escaped her Scottish home, the wee island of North Uist, where her parents were trying to marry her off to an older man. She has a passion to use her skills to help her country defeat the Nazis. Her offshore experience is action filled and extremely moving. She ends up on Malta dealing with the trauma of war up close. With the island cut off at times from supplies and communication, she is dealt a heavy hand in severe rations, bombings and loss of communication with her family and friends. The effects of her experiences stirred up a lot of emotion in me. I appreciated her strength, courage and dedication. Her fierce Celtic heart shone through. Even in the war zone, she never gave up and found something lasting. A beautiful love-- pure and protective.

Fran is a lover of Shakespeare (who isn’t?) and comes from a family a medics who want her to follow in their footsteps. So, they do not appreciate her desire to take an English Literature degree. She lands a job at the University Library ‘doing research into the obscure ends of classical literature’. It is here, under the influence of an English don, her talent to dig out gems from rare collections is revealed and honed. This leads to her work at Bletchley. Fran, unlike the other two girls, does not go off to another country but remains on the home front offering her valuable services as a logistic genius. It is here, where she discovers more about herself and an unexpected romance.

This novel was hard to set down once I got into the flow of the story. It is a fantastic offering that made my heart pump faster and allowed me to enter an intriguing realm before my time. The second world war was a difficult, heart-breaking period for those who lived through it. But Anna has allowed us to have more than a bird’s eye view of the women who helped bring victory in ending that war. Rather, we slip into their shoes and experience each of their journeys. I highly recommend The Bletchley Girls for it is well written and wonderfully honours those who made sacrifices for freedom. 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I received an e-ARC version of this book from NetGalley and the publisher.

“The Bletchley Girls” by Anna Stuart was a bit different from what I expected. I’ve read a number of books based on Bletchley Park, so I was expecting “more of the same.” This book wasn’t more of the same, which was a really nice surprise. For instance, part of this book takes place away from the UK - in both Egypt and Malta. What I knew about Malta during WWII before reading this book would be about two sentences long. So, learning about that aspect was very interesting. I also didn’t know that at first people working at Bletchley Park were lodging with townsfolk (seems logical, but the books I read were all later in the war effort). Some parts of the book were predictable - meaning in what happened to the characters - but only one character’s ending I didn’t like (I understand why the author did it, but I don’t have to agree with it). Do read the Author’s Note regarding how she came up with the idea and the included history, in FAQ form, about Bletchley Park. The writing was engaging and the banter between characters enjoyable.

The Bletchley Girls is an engaging historical novel set in World War 2. Author Anna Stuart deftly weaves the historical context into a warm and ultimately triumphant tale of three young women thrust into a world at war.

Stefania Carmichael, Ailsa MacIver, and Frances Morgan are innocent and naïve when they first meet at a train station outside Bletchley Park. Despite their widely different backgrounds – Steffie, a privileged debutant with an Italian fiancé and a gift for language; Ailsa, a small-town Scottish girl escaping an undesirable arranged marriage whose prowess with radio operations proves invaluable; and Fran, a dedicated librarian whose research and organizational skills mark her as an asset in logistics – form an unbreakable, almost familial, bond.

Each of them is asked to take on a specific role in the war effort, but their worktime separation does not deter their growing friendship. Steffie is assigned to Cairo where her linguistics talents threaten to be overshadowed by an unknown traitor. Shy Ailsa is sent to Malta, where she must face the constant terrors of war and her own inner demons. Fran alone remains at Bletchley Park, providing a steady and tenacious advocate for the Allies. As the three continue on their separate adventures, they learn how important – and unshakeable – their friendship is.

The plot lines involving Steffie and Ailsa are by far the strongest, with Ailsa’s story being my favorite. Ailsa’s growth from a bashful, uncertain girl into a forceful and determined young woman in full command of her wit and emotions is a joy to read. Unfortunately, while Ailsa’s and Steffie’s stories seem to flow naturally from their circumstances, Fran’s narrative, while very interesting, at times appears to be overly concerned about appearing PC.

At the end of the day, however, there is no denying that The Bletchley Girls is a fascinating historical novel that celebrates the resilience and strength of friendship in light of adversity. Anna Stuart is an author to watch.

Note: I received an ARC of The Bletchley Girls from NetGalley, and Bookouture. The above is my honest review.

Bletchley Park…a top secret mansion in Buckinghamshire that’s full of intellects, linguists, radio operators and efficiency experts. These folks work round the clock to break codes and transcribe intel from the Germans in an effort to win WWII. For Steffie, Fran and Ailsa…it’s so much more. It’s a chance to find themselves, prove that women are just as capable and discover the true bonds of friendship.

Signing an act of secrecy, they never truly know what each other does within the walls of Bletchley but together they are able to decipher enough information to take down a spy and help overturn the supply war in the Mediterranean. Despite their hidden work, Steffie and Ailsa are not hidden from the dangers of war as the two are sent to the Med. They face bombs, starvation and are even arrested for being spies themselves. Fran is back at Bletchley relaying as much information as she can to keep her friends safe and still take down the enemy.

I loved every page of this book. While the characters are fictional the events and locations in which the story takes place are very real and upon reading the authors notes, I gained a bit of a history lesson that I hadn’t learned before. Ms Stuart has created strong, intelligent and determined characters that you immediately become invested in. I was also grateful to return to Bletchley Park, a place that I’ve only just begun to learn about.

Thanks so much to NetGalley, Bookouture and Anna Stuart for an amazing trip to Bletchley and the Mediterranean! I was thrilled to receive an early copy in exchange for my review!

Well-written and engaging, The Bletchley Girls tells the story of Steffie, Fran, and Ailsa as they begin their secretive work at Bletchley Park during World War 2.

The story covers three years of the war from the perspective of each woman. I loved the descriptions of the work at Bletchley and was pleasantly surprised when the action was moved to Malta and Egypt

The characters vividly brought to life the bravery and courage of the many people who worked tirelessly and mostly unacknowledged at Bletchley Park.

This is my third book by Author Anna Stuart and I must say that her books never fail to disappoint. Her topics and concepts are well researched, her characters are strong, powerful and lovable.

The Bletchley girls is a story of three amazing young girls Steffie, Fran and Ailsa who leave home to begin their selective work at Bletchley Park, during world war 2. The book being based on a true story just did not stop at Bletchley park but also takes us around a few war hit countries like Malta and Egypt, and showed the struggle caused due to the war.

I liked that the book was divided into three parts, but found the third part to be the most interesting. The book also tells us the changing perceptive of women during world war 2. The book not doubt began on a slow note but was enough to keep the reader engaged. I also loved the love story between Ailsa and Ned, I thought it was cute and no doubt the relationship and friendship between the 3 girls were also amazing.

Thanks to netgalley, the publisher at Bookouture and author Anna Stuart for this Arc.

I'm a huge lover of historical fiction and Bletchley has always been an enigma to me (see what I did there?)

I've read several of Stuart's books and have always found them five star worthy, and this one deserved all the stars too. It's very well written, historical moments researched and is an absolutely captivating read.

I love the camaraderie, the strong friendships and the unity the girls had. They were credible characters, well developed and extremely likeable. The story also took us away from Wiltshire and we ventured to both Malta and Egypt.

The Bletchley Girls is a fabulous story of love and loyalty. It's based on true events and is an easily recommendable read.

Many thanks to Bookouture for my tour spot.

Oh deary me, this was a slog of a read. In theory, I should have absolutely loved it because historical fiction is pretty much the only genre I read these days. I particularly love stories featuring strong, female leads that contribute to the war effort, largely forgotten in history.
This was a slow burner, and it never quite grasped my attention. None of the three main characters clicked for me, nor did the overall plot. I thought there was too much talk of military strategy, not enough of the lives of the three women as they navigated their roles in Bletchley Park and beyond.

The book had a lot of promise, and perhaps I will try another book by this author in the future, but for now I'm resigned to say that this one just didn't do it for me.

The Bletchley Girls was a very interesting read! The author clearly did her research about Bletchley Park, code-breaking, and radio operators. It was very fascinating to learn about what happened at Bletchley Park as well as in the Mediterranean in the early years of the war. Aside from learning a lot of unknown facts about the above mentioned, the story line was very intriguing and the three main characters: Stefania, Frances and Ailsa were very well crafted.

Stefania is a high society socialite that fell in love with a dashing Italian pilot prior to Italy joining WWII. As the war separates them, Stefania finds herself working at Bletchley and is torn between fighting for her country and fighting against the main whom occupies her heart.

Frances is from a well-off family of doctors who decides to break the traditions of her family being in the medical field and decides to go to Bletchley to break codes instead. While there, she finds out more about herself then she ever new possible.

Ailsa left the comfort and safety of her native Scotland to see the world, but this fiery red-headed beauty sees the world during a deployment into the middle of a war zone and while there, her fate takes an unexpected turn.

An unexpected incident happens and the girls find themselves, their lives and their futures in jeopardy while facing a accusation that can result in death. Read on to find out what happens and how or if they get through it!

My only complaint is that I feel like the beginning of the book dragged on a tad too long and I would have loved the “action” and “plot” to start much sooner. Still a fantastic read!

Stefania Carmichael is living in Rome, loving her life and engaged to Matteo. Life is good and she is happy as can be. But her life changes in an instant. World War II rages on across Europe and the bombs being dropped are destroying everything in their path. Steffie arrives at the mysterious Bletchley Park. She immediately signs the Official Secrets Act. She was recruited because of her knowledge of different languages and is used as a codebreaker. She doesn’t know anyone so she isn’t sure who she can trust. But she soon befriends Fran in logistics and Ailsa a radio operator. Steffie settles into her assigned tasks and her world is turned upside down once again when her native country of Italy partners with the wrong side, and she soon discovers that her loving fiancé Mattero becomes the enemy.

I was completely captivated by this phenomenal story from the opening of the cover to the turn of the last page. This story was so overwhelming and and left me completely emotional. I was heartbroken to discover that this was a story based on true events. The courageous women of Bletchley Park during the War was shocking, stunning and incredibly fascinating. The story of Bletchley Park was not one I had heard much about and so to read about it now was very heartbreaking. This is one area of history that I will definitely dive deeper into. I can’t recommend this story enough, it was so well researched, and well written. But make sure you read it with a box of Kleenex by your side because you are sure to need it. This one will stay with me for a long, long time. This is such a fabulous story and I highly recommend it.

Thank you Anna Stuart for yet another amazing historical fiction. I found it to be absolutely fascinating and I really enjoyed it. I absolutely recommend it.

'There was much talk of the heroism of the sailors, the power of the ships and the cunning of the plotters - and not a single breath about the codebreakers, translators and indexers'.

'The Bletchley Girls' helps breathe life into the story of these men and women who worked hard behind the scenes to win WWII. The book follows three women in a tri-narrated tale, which helps the reader not only understand many of the more administrative roles of the war effort but also how they may have worked together using only puzzle pieces to build the picture.

Stephania, Fran, and Aisla have all been recruited to Bletchley Park to utilise their individual skill sets to help win the war. However, each girl has their own, personal reasons for being there. The friendship they develop over the course of the book provides the backbone of the story. Anna Stuart augments this with enough war and logistical detailing to give the reader a real sense of each girl's war effort and the challenging conditions they faced.

'The Bletchley Girls' is an easy-to-read and slightly different take from a lot of this WWII genre; focussing on 'war room' work in Britain, Africa and the Mediterranean, rather than occupied France or work camps. I did feel, at times though, that the pace slowed to a holding pattern. Overall though, the characters were likable and the story gave a refreshing take on a popular genre.

This is not my usual genre, although i have read a coiple of the authors other WW2 novels. A history buff friend having piqued my interest in Bletchley Park it called to me.

I enjoyed the different pov of the 3 ladies, and how each ones personality shone in their chapters, as well as learning about the basis of the history.

It did lose me a little in the middle but soon brought my attention back

I definitely am going to have to read the second book and probably more in the genre!

I’d put it at a 3.5 star. Some aspects of the storyline felt unique and interesting (especially learning about the war in Africa as it’s often an area not discussed in WW2 historical fiction). Other parts felt a bit too “neat and tidy” and let it down.

An exceptional read

An exceptionally compelling story of three girls who arrived at Bletchley Park, became firm friends and, along with countless others, helped win World War II.
I do love a good World War II story which includes several factual events, and Anna Stuart does this extremely well.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot recommend it highly enough to lovers of this genre.

As my first Anna Stuart book, this was a fantastic introduction to her wonderful talent.
I had previously read one other historical fiction novel about Bletchley Park and it's impact on the Second World War, and I think I prefer this one. I felt much more engaged, and much more connected to the characters, right from the start. The characters were all extremely well defined, and their skills and personalities complimented each other wonderfully.
The story around the decoding and the Morse code was clearly heavily researched, and Stuart makes it perfectly accessible to the readers. I wasn't alienated by the girls' work, only fascinated and full of admiration for their intelligence and bravery.
I really enjoyed this one, and I can't wait to read what Stuart writes next!

New recruits to Bletchley Park, Britain's top-secret code-breaking headquarters, Steffi, Fran and Ailsa form an instant rapport, despite their different backgrounds. Steffi's the socialite daughter of an ambassador, engaged to an Italian who is now on the enemy side; Fran is the daughter of dull academics while Ailsa is a Scottish island girl escaping the stifling and claustrophobic attitude of home.
Their time at Bletchley leads to adventure, danger and the discovery of strong passions, but their friendship never falters and as the war progresses they grow in strength and stature, ready to face whatever will come next.
This was a really good story with three strong lead characters. I felt it gave a real insight into what life must have been like at Bletchley Park - not as rarefied as I had imagined, despite all those official secret acts!
When the narrative takes our heroines out into the field, to Egypt and to Malta, the plot intensifies - there is plenty action and suspense here, as well as a good sprinkling of romance ... and, as it finishes in 1942, the hope of a follow-up book! An ideal read for lovers of wartime romances who enjoy a meticulously researched, well-crafted story. Author Anna Stuart never disappoints.

Loved it. It was interesting to see how much the woman were treated tan the men, even though they were doing the same job. My favorite part was the relationship Ailsa, Fran and Steffie formed with each other. They became their own little family and were there for each other. Ailsa changed the most through out the book. It took guts for her to join the WAAFS, go against her family and leave her island. She became more independent and finally came out of her shell. I hated how her mom treated her. Of course, it takes a near death tragedy for people to realize what they could lose. Fran always knew what she wanted to do and didn't allow her parents to force her into the medical field. Although, her family always downplayed Fran's role at Bletchley Park. Would people be so OK with Fran's life choices during this time? It seemed like everyone just accepted it and it wasn't a big deal. Steffie was the rich girl who lived a charmed life. She told everyone who would listen that she had an Italian fiancé. Not sure how Steffie could still love Matteo after the encounter in the hospital. His response just showed that he didn't love her and I doubt he would change his thinking. Would he really just be able to show up like he did? That part didn't seem believable.

Really enjoyed the book. The Intelligence Officers really aren't that smart for how they tried to accuse the girls of being spies. These women were working to help them and even alerted them that the Germans were getting information from someone, but no one listened. All because of a farm. Loved reading about the work the girls were doing in Malta and Cairo.

Definitely recommend the book. Loved the characters, story and writing style. Look forward to reading more books by the author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bookouture through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is the second book that I’ve read by this author, and like the first one I absolutely loved it. This is a historical fiction read based on true events. Once I started reading this I couldn’t put it down it was such an interesting read. I loved the characters of the 3 girls who were sent to Bletchley Park to work. All 3 were from different walks of life and I loved how they developed as the story went on. This book is perfect for curling up on the couch with a cup of tea. I promise once you start it you won’t want to put it down. A superb read well worthy of 5 ⭐️
