Sometimes one needs to read a book that inspires love and hope, which this book has in spades, with delightful characters and an uncomplicated plot. By uncomplicated, I certainly don't for one second mean boring. It centres on Eramus and his inability to remember his past until a mysterious man appears who promises to tell him the truth. Eramus has kept his magical skills tightly hidden by all but an incidence forced his hand and now he is feared and ostracized by his village. Uncertain whether to trust this mysterious stranger,, Eramus let's his curiosity get the upper hand and they embark on him learning how to use his magic. The plot and world building progress steadily as new challenges and events appear. The feelings of love and support abound throughout the book, which I found beautiful.Eramus is such a gentle, kind, generous character, so nicely balanced, he's a delight. As his is precocious love interest. The interaction between the two of his sweet and just lovely. I enjoyed the introduction of the new characters, who were all introduced at the right time. I love how naive Eramus is and how forgiving. This book lays an excellent foundation for the next book, which I'm looking forward to

A fab story filled with mystery , intrigue, magic and adventure. Our character Eramus doesn’t remember his past and this is his story and it will have you on the edge of your seat. Exciting and engrossing this story drew me in from the start and the world building is simply fantastic.

This is clean, YA romantic fantasy.
A simple, fun romantic read about young lovers, a secret-royalty-trope, and a boy shunned for using his magic.
Audio narration: Jamie Treselyan
Who does multiple voices quite well, though I wasn't overly fond of the female ones.
Though the plot is relatively simple, this was an enjoyable enough story to listen to. The MC is likeable and his love interest is fun. I think some of my younger nieces might really like this sort of story.
I think it's biggest flaw is that the dialogue is all a bit too 'on the nose'.
Sexual content: none except for a very minor suggestive comment
Coarse language: none
Violence and gore: mild-moderate violence, mild gore
Conclusion
Although I won't be continuing the series myself, I wouldn't mind suggesting this to my teenage nieces, and enjoyed the story.

Evree and the entire village are threatened by those with powerful abilities and by a king bent on revenge...
So I must say definitely not a fan of the cover on this one. But decided to give it a go anyway, and I'm glad I gave it a chance. Friends to lovers romance with some secret identities and lots of magic spells. Only one POV which is from our MMC, Eramus. An interesting thing is that there is never any conflict or misunderstanding between Eramus and Evree, everything is always love and buttercups between them. I thought the magic system could have been a bit better grounded (magical stones fell from the sky and a mysterious voice told kids how to use them). And I figured out the secret identities quite a while before Eramus did. Romance is sweet throughout, and I enjoyed the action at the end. A series I may continue.

Eramus has trouble remembering his past until a mysterious man comes to him with promises of telling him the truth of it. Keeping his magic a secret until he is forced to reveal it, he is now ostracized from his town and goes on an adventure to understand how to use his magic and learn who he is.
I loved the plot and the way the story was told. The author does a great job in creating a fun world full of mystery, magic and adventure, and you won't be bored with this type of plot. Eramus was a great and relatable character who made the book the best it could be.
The beginning was incredibly slow, and the the way characters spoke to each other was a little on the bland side. The overall story was great, the writing needed a little more work.

Wow... what a fantastic story! I found myself immediately spellbound by the wonderfully written fairytale. This should definitely be made into a Disney movie! You will absolutely fall in love with the characters. This wholesome book is great for adults and the kiddos too! I'm a big fan of fantasy with a "fairytale" ending and this page turner will give you adventure, fantasy, magic, and much more! If you're a lover of great storytelling and outstanding writing, this is the one for you! BRAVO!

I loved reading reading this story! Eramus is the sweetest guy ever and the beginning of his story will keep you on the edge of your seat, I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out! The worldbuilding is beautiful and the cast of characters strong and entertaining. The twists and reveals are on point and will leave you wanting more! The romance is sweet and clean and it's a beautiful written story.

I really enjoyed this story and wish whole heartedly the next book was Available on Audible so I could continue the story!!
Narrator does a Excellent job on the characters voices and the entire storyline. I highly recommend this Story.

I’m not sure why. I just couldn’t get into the story enough. As well as narration just didn’t do it for me.

I enjoyed this first book in the Children of Magic series, the characters are interesting and the story was entertaining.
