Private detective Levi Morales has never worked a case like this one. He comes to Angel River on an urgent hunt for a rare book by little-known author Browning Weidler. At first it seems that the job will be easy, but the coveted first edition of the 1899 classic proves elusive. And if Levi can't find it in time, there's a lot more than money at stake.

Mae Wallace has worked hard to get her life right where she wants it. As the owner of the Angel River Cafe and a beloved member of the community, it's never occurred to her that she might be lonely. But everything changes when a tall, dark, handsome stranger comes knocking on her door.

As Mae and Levi work together to locate this precious and mysterious book, their search takes them on an unexpected journey. Through secretive hearts and secret compartments, to hidden cottages in the woods, and hidden places within themselves. And when the last page is turned, they will have to do they write the next chapter, or close the book forever?

About the author

You might not think that an addiction to television would inspire a career in writing, but that is exactly what happened with me. When I was about six years old, my mother “encouraged” me to turn off the TV and pick up a book by offering to pay me two cents for every page I read. It was an unusual strategy, but it worked: soon I was a bona fide book junkie (thanks Mom!). Of course, it wasn't long before I graduated from reading to writing. I write multiple genres of closed-door romance, including small town family sagas with a touch of mystery, romantic suspense, and even a dash of paranormal.

Readers can feel the temperature rise as soon as the stranger visits Mae’s coffee shop the first time. The mystery about a long-lost book keeps us turning the pages, but we hope the story lasts long enough to fulfill the promise of a simmering romance. The author writes a captivating and gentle story that reminds us of why we enjoy reading. Set in a community we all know by different names and among characters similar to ones who populate our own lives, The Book of Forgotten Angels delivers pleasant nighttime reading with a large dose of heart.
