Last episode marked a big change in the style of the Host Club comics. Gone are the cutesy little everyone-getting-alone, single episode plot lines. Instead, the plots are becoming deeper and more meaningful, and stretching out over a longer span. This episode had great development for Kyoya, the twins, and Haruhi especially.
Episode 52: 5/5
Kyoya begins to scour France for Tamaki's mother, simply out of the goodness of his heart and his affection for Tamaki. The twins are still fighting, and Haruhi is spending increased time with Kaoru, who arranges small displays of affection between the two while he knows Hikaru is watching, even going so far as to ask her on agt date.
Episode 53: 5/5
Kaoru decides there isn't chemistry between him and Haruhi, and makes up with Hikaru, wishing him the best. He decides they need to start differentiating and separating themselves, but Hikaru argues that it would solve the problem to start with everyone else differentiating between them, and so he dyes his hair dark.
Episode 54: 5/5
Kyoya is hilariously starting to fade from the exhaustion of looking for Tamaki's mother. Home in Japan, Tamaki is lonely and bored stuff, and begins to spent time with his father at Suoh Co., where he spends more time caring after people in need than learning the trade.
Episode 55: 5/5
Unable to stay away, Tamaki sneaks outside Haruhi's house hoping to spy on her inside, but she catches him. The two are left alone in Haruhi's house, where she confesses how hopeless and unprepared she felt to help the twins' during their fight, and now to help Tamaki, who didn't go to France because of his mother. Tamaki tells Haruhi how his mother's sickness inspired him to try and be happy everyday, and make others happy. The two share ~INFINITY~ sweet moments that made my heart burst out of his chest, including a (SQUEAK) kiss, which leaves Haruhi infatuated and confused. Meanwhile, Kyoya interviews an old staff member in Tamaki's mother, Anne Sophie's house, and finds out where Tamaki's mother is.
Episode 56: 5/5
Kyoya has now whiled away his entire vacation looking for Anne Sophie, and collapses in exhaustion at her doorstep, where she takes him in and hauls him into bed. Anne Sophie tells this exchange student a little about her life, and Kyoya politely listens and participates in conversation, not giving away his identity, but offering her support and comfort. After he leaves, we find out that Anne Sophie recognized him halfway through the conversation. At home, Kyoya gives out presents, the best one of all to Tamaki -- news about his mother.
