This is my first cleaning book and boy it's little but it packs a punch. This little book has tips from how to clean your kitchen , toilet , rug and how to dust. It's a perfect read for those that are new to clean or looking for tips and tricks on how to clean better and it's perfect . I absolutely loved how the information was laid out and how the author delivered . I highly recommend, I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Great little book about with what and how to clean different rooms and surfaces. There is the quick cleaning, the more intense cleaning, and then the full proper cleaning with examples how to do it and what ingredients and "tools" needed. Easy to read, easy to follow, the only thing left is to do the actual cleaning. Great book!
I hate to be negative but I really didn’t care for this cleaning book. It is extremely basic. As a few others have mentioned, it might be good for a new homemaker who has never cleaned before. If so, I think the suggested routine might be overwhelming though. Sweep and vacuum your floors “at least daily.” Clean your fridge every week, change your bedroom filters every month, vacuum and clean both sides of your mattress every six months, and so on.
The format is black and white and dark green, with dark green photos and really random full page quotes on green pages.
The author frequently recommends microfiber cloths, which are absolutely terrible for human health and the environment. Every time you wash them, they release microplastics into the water supply that cannot be filtered out and accumulate in our water, fish and animals, and then in us. She recommends washing your daily used microfiber cloths in a separate load every time you use them, which is also incredibly wasteful and is basically dumping microplastics into the water supply at a even more terrible rate. She also recommends products like bleach, which are also not great for health or the environment.
Besides all of this, it’s just not particularly thorough or helpful. You can get any of this from your average web page from any magazine geared towards middle age women (more modern ones tend to be a little more helpful and less stuck in the 1950s). It also doesn’t address things like routines, clutter (other than a few sentences), crisis cleaning, or how to become a tidy person if you’re not.
I found literally one tip that was new to me, and that was quoted from someone on TikTok— when you sweep up dirt and debris, spray it with water or cleaning fluid so you can easily wipe it up with a cloth. I don’t think I’ll use that tip (I’m fine with a dustpan), but it was the one and only piece of information that I wouldn’t consider pretty basic knowledge for most adults or available on a million generic websites.
If you are looking for a book to help you or a loved one get a handle on cleaning, there are such better books out there. Again, I’m sorry to be negative but if you’re going to pay money for a cleaning book I would recommend others before this one.
I read a temporary digital arc of this book for review.
You Need This Book !! - I needed this book and did not even know it! -- The Little Book of Cleaning Tips.
"There is no place like home" is sometimes true at my house, but not most of the time. This book will inspire you to declutter and clean. Who knew I could be INSPIRED to do this! Clean and clutter free is good for our mental health as well as looking really good. Sorting and scrubbing can help you work thru anxiety and stress. And relaxing at the end of the day in a clean serene space helps us recharge. Are you inspired yet? I was.
This book is full of quick cleaning routines, helpful hacks and deep cleaning projects for doing in every room of your home and there are no expensive tools required. Routine cleansing takes 20 minutes or less. and makes a space feel clean and serene. Deep cleaning takes more time and elbow grease but these tasks are so satisfying for the soul when they are done. Find a cleaning schedule that works for you - there is an example on page 79. This example recommends what to do daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. I plan to start with this schedule and modify as I go.
Kitchen was the first place that gets routine cleaning in the book. Each task starts with a list of what you will need to complete that task. There are cleaning techniques for your countertops by type of material. Tips for decluttering countertops (I really needed to be encouraged to do this one). Cleaning tips for your sink and disposal. Then the book moves to stove top and refrigerator. Oh no - not the refrigerator! There is a page for the kitchen called five ways to freshen up in five minutes that is really helpful. Then there are cleaning tips for appliances that you use in the kitchen.
Deep cleaning for the kitchen is about cleaning your dishwasher, oven, trash bin, recycling bin, microwave and backsplash. Most of the deep cleaning tasks are on the schedule for monthly or once a year. Most of the routine cleaning is on the scheduled for daily or weekly.
Happy Cleaning! This book should make 2023 my best year yet for mental health, anxiety and stress. I hope to be relaxing in a much more clean and serene space.
This compact yet beautifully crafted book offers a wealth of knowledge on maintaining a clean and organized home. Its layout comprises numerous sections brimming with valuable cleaning advice, spanning from techniques for achieving a spotless stovetop to dealing with unexpected pet-related incidents.
What sets this book apart is its precision and practicality, making it an invaluable resource for those who are new to the world of house cleaning. The inclusion of "5-minute cleaning" sections is particularly beneficial for those hectic moments when guests are about to arrive, providing quick and effective solutions to spruce up your space.
One aspect that truly resonates with environmentally-conscious readers is the book's recommendation of eco-friendly cleaning materials and alternatives. It reflects a genuine commitment to both tidiness and sustainability, catering to the conscientious homeowner.
As a reader, I found myself earmarking pages for future reference, knowing that I'll be implementing some of these tips and tricks in my own home. The icing on the cake is the well-structured cleaning schedule at the book's conclusion, providing a comprehensive plan for maintaining order in one's living space.
I extend my gratitude to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me the opportunity to peruse this advanced copy. It's a valuable resource for anyone seeking to elevate their housekeeping game and create a more organized, tidy, and environmentally-friendly home.
This little book is an extremely comprehensive guide to cleaning most parts of your house.
What I loved: - The book is largely organized by room, providing tips and strategies for keeping each room well maintained so that deep-cleaning is not overwhelming. - The emphasis on using basic cleaning supplies. I am often tempted by the latest "revolutionary" cleaning product, but they rarely live up to the hype, and often clutter my cabinets. Most of her recommended cleaning solutions involve dish soap & vinegar, with a couple mentions of bleach for disinfecting the truly germy surfaces. Her method of cleaning is affordable, tried, and proven to work. - This is a great reference book, and great motivation! I read this book in less than an hour, and I already feel more motivated to go clean my bathroom! I predict I'll open this book every weekend as I do my chores.
*I received a free ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review*
This book is exactly as advertised - it may not be very long, but it is filled with cleaning tips that anyone can easily follow. And who knew that vinegar is the duct tape of cleaning? I loved the "Five Ways to Freshen Up in Five Minutes" sections at the end of each chapter. It is just a nice reminder that there are little things we can do everyday to keep our spaces clean and refreshed. I will definitely be keeping this book close and referring to it often (at least until everything becomes so routine that I know it by heart).
Hi everyone! Tidy book for a tidy home. This little books is very well designed and It has many sections with many cleaning tips that go from stovetop cleaning to animal incidents. It’s very specific and gives you a lot of help if you’re new to house cleaning. It even has some “5-minute cleaning” sections that help if you’ve guest coming over and have little time to tidy up.
I appreciated that they suggest environment friendly cleaning materials and alternatives.
I’m definitely going to use some of these tips in the future and the great cleaning schedule at the end of the book!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read the advanced copy.
You know a book on cleaning is good, when while you are reading you have to pause and go to the thing you just read about. I now have a very clean garbage disposal and stove top. Thank you Leah N. Miles. I am writing up a cleaning plan for 2023 after I write this review. I am inspired to get rid of the harsh chemicals and use the recipes in this book. Not only are they safer but they also work better.
This is a great collection of cleaning tips for someone starting with very little knowledge of cleaning. Perhaps a twenty-something living in their first apartment. While there were some good deep cleaning tips for more experienced clearers (the garbage disposal, the dishwasher) the majority of the book is for the beginner cleaner, looking for a list and tips.
This is packed with excellent suggestions for cleaning every room in the house, checklists, and even how to clean your cleaning supplies! Leah N. Miles even includes how to clean small items, such as remote controls. I also like her emphasis on using natural products, such as white vinegar. It's hard to get motivated to clean at times, but this book certainly helps!
I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. I really enjoyed this book. The author did a great job giving very helpful tips on cleaning house top to bottom. I got tons of new ideas with tons of easy cheap recipes. Perfect for those clean freaks that are looking for a guide and recipes for cleaning products a through your house. Highly recommend. Thank you.
This was a simple and easy-to-read book, I liked the separation of routine and deep cleaning tasks as well as suggestions for different kinds of materials you might be cleaning. A great book for someone who might not be familiar with cleaning or who wants a little more guidance on what to clean, how, and when. Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for this ARC!
This is just what I needed. I often have had reactions to bought cleaning solutions so this is perfect for me. The products are easily made and can be unscented if required. Will be dipping into this book on a very regular basis.
This is a nice gift to give someone going out on their own the first time. Not only does it have cleaners that are natural but also some things you already have at home. Some of them I knew but also found some new ones.
Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. This was a great quick read filled with cleaning tips on how to clean different rooms and surfaces. It covers both quick cleaning and more intense/deep cleaning. Easy to read and follow and handy to refer to when you need to either do some everyday cleaning or some spot cleaning. #netgalley #thelittlebookofcleaningtips #tea_sipping_bookworm #goodreads #cleaning #amazonaustralia #kindle #thestorygraph #litsy #bookqueen #bookstagram
**Thank you to Leah N. Miles, NetGalley and Zeitgeist for allowing me to receive an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!** This is a book that everyone should own! I absolutely loved how there were different levels of cleaning included. It is important to realize when things need to be deep cleaned but it's so helpful to be able to have simpler ways to do upkeep cleaning. I really enjoyed all of these tips and it really has helped me to figure out better ways to clean my home. It's especially helpful because I am moving and I want to be certain that I am returning my old place to a clean reset home. I really enjoyed the tip about the ceiling fans because I had never thought of doing that!!
A quick read with a focus on natural cleaning products. With the advent of IG sites like gocleanco, there's a lot of info out there on this topic, particularly with natural products, so not sure it would be worthwhile to invest in a book. The blurb mentions gifting the book...so I guess that's one idea.
