Norman Bridwell was an American author and cartoonist, best-known for the Clifford the Big Red Dog series of children's books. Bridwell attended John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, Indiana. He lived on Martha's Vineyard, MA, where he wrote an average of two books a year.
This book is told in just 40 words that are listed on the last page in alphabetical order. I had more fun reading that list out loud than I did all the preceding pages.
This is a very short book with a simple concept. I would have this in the classroom and read aloud only if I taught a lower grade level such is Kindergarten.
My kids (3 & 5) love Clifford. We read through this the first time together. Next we went to the word list at the back and picked three words that they would work on reading. Once they got those down, they chose three more words. They can practically read this book all by themselves now. I love this book, my kids had a lot of fun learning to read with it.
Clifford celebrate sValentine's Day with friends and receives a lot of gifts from so many! This is a great Valentine's Day book for kindergarteners and first graders. It's an easy read with quality pictures.
If it wasn't Clifford, not sure if it would have been worth it. But being Clifford, it was decent. Would be fun for young kids who are ready to enjoy valentines for the first time.
Good book for new readers because sentences are very simple and short with some repetition. It's also a good book because some students may be familiar with Clifford.
