Look-out-behind-you danger from the USA Today bestselling author
Luke Deal's gang has had their depravities interrupted one time too many by the Bar 40 ranch foreman, Owen. Now, an English tenderfoot has bought a choice longhorn and is being escorted by Owen and his three toughest cowhands on an ambush-laden, hell-for-leather trip. For the greenhorn, it will be the adventure of a lifetime. But for Luke Deal's pack of rabid human wolves, it's the chance to settle a very old score.
Alfred Pitney, a representative of the BLC, some British cattle ranchers, arrives in Texas to buy a bull from four Bar-40 ranch by the name Big Blue and four young cows. One of them called Emily. Pitney intends to take the bull and cows to Wyoming with four Bar-40 cattle hands and a cook. There is some humor but also a lot of violence. Water moccasins, cattle rustlers, and then there is Luke Deal, Grutt and Bronk. Luke Deal is the worst. He loves to kill. Men, women and children. The ending of the story was a little strange.
The English are running a spread in Wyoming. The overseer, a man from Bristol, England, wants to improve the hardiness of his heard by introducing longhorn blood. He finds a ranch in Texas and buys a bull, payment due on delivery. Four cowhands and the Brit take the bull and four cows to Wyoming. The dangers along the path are at every turn and it is action packed. There is a good side story also.
